  1. So what you are saying is that you couldn't refute any of my facts and couldn't actually absorb it or discuss it, and are now just complaining about it rather than tackling it. That's what I expected.
  2. We had a couple of negative reacts early on, but they ended up being more trouble than they were worth, so they were ditched.
  3. I don't have a lot of other fans bases on my feeds, but Cubs fans are standing on the edge of a tall building, contemplating how the Rickets lied to them, and whether a rebuild is worth it.
  4. Most are used correctly, and are a fair reaction to funny posts.
  5. Markets can only handle irrationality for so long, eventually the big dollars flood them out. There seems to be no good reason to believe this a real thing. I did do some investigations, but even the puts are insanely expensive. There is SO much vol built into the prices, there isn't much upside to be had without a HUGE collapse. The April at the money's are $80 on a $150 stock. That is NUTS. I don't I have ever seen that before.
  6. If we are going to cite 2020 as an indicator for 21, there are a few things worth mentioning. #1 Lance Lynn is here. He doesn't have to be a super star, but even as a step back from his 2020, is a very large improvement over what was in this slot last year. #2 Michael Kopech will be here at some point. #3 Dylan Cease has another year of experience and a new pitching coach to try to unlock him #4 Even if you don't believe in Lopez, him having another new voice and not trying to quickly come back off of injury will put him in a better spot for 21. Maybe that is as a reliever or a starter, who knows, maybe he really is a bust, and we never see him again. #5 Stiever also exists in the wings and will be given a chance to bounce back to where he was. If he doesn't exist, the odds are he was dealt for another starter, who then filll up another known spot in the rotation. #6 We all know the Sox are still looking to fill the rotation up with at least one more starter. While it won't be a top notch guy, with the offense they have, they don't need it as much as other teams. They can win games 7-5 and 9-6 this year. What they need is mediocre innings eating if they don't steps forwards from Kopech, Cease, Stiever and whoever else is here. Sure you'd love to have Bauer there, but they can hide some things with their offense #7 Would also have an expectation of a step forward as a whole with the pen. Colome is gone, but Hendriks is here. Bummer is healthy. Crochet is healthy. Guys like Lambert, Burdi and Tyler Johnson lurk in the distance, and maybe we see a failed starter drop down. #8 We also have another year of growth in the minors for a guy to potentially surprise. Maybe a guy like Flores really does pop up as a useful option. Maybe someone no one is talking about like a Kade McClure's pop up stuff is real and he had a Brandon McCarthy style flight through MiLB. Looking back at '20, because this was a 60 game season, the Sox approached the last two weeks very differently than if they still had about 100 games to go. I don't think they shorten up their rotation and panic the way that they did with 10 games to go. They would have been a lot more apt to let their starters pitch through some things and try to learn on the job. Dunning/Cease/ReyLo all fit here. Maybe even a Stiever gets another shot or run. Who knows what the record would have looked like, but I think overall they would have known some more about some of their guys if they had pitched a full season, or even a longer season. They would have also been able to give Rodon time to figure out if he could start again, or how to be a reliever. While I don't think all questions would have been answered in the affirmative, I do think enough would have gone right that they would have been more ready for the playoffs than they were with them starting at the apex of their worst slump of the season.
  7. No lazy is selling just the most negative piece of the narrative over and over again. Remember a few posts ago when you defended your extreme pessimism by saying... " I don't need to "justify" a fucking fact. "? All of what I stated are facts. You just don't like them, so now you are trying to disqualify them with some irrelevant handwaving designed to make things look as bad as possible, even though your "facts" are seemingly unable to be challenged in your mind. Funny how that changes with the facts don't fit your bias and narrative.
  8. I was just reading about this. Was thinking about some Puts here.
  9. That kind of contradicts the idea of only having one positive reaction. If you are looking for "meaning" in the reacts, why would it bother you that you get MORE clarity with a variety of reacts versus just one plain +1 style react? Also if a person is already posting to you, that gives you WAY more insight to what they are thinking than a +1 reaction does. They are literally spelling out whatever message they want to respond to you with. The only difference is that you know who ISN'T responding to you, which if you aren't looking to call them out, what good does that do you? Again, since we JUST had a person who is actively looking to target people to call out AND is pissed off at the reactions they are getting, it isn't a very large leap to expect that person to start calling out people who gave him a react that he got his feelings hurt by. And trust me when I say, he isn't alone. All publicizing reactions does is allow people to actively target and bully people who they don't like their reactions from, when they could just take the hint.
  10. Of course the distance between 2nd and 7th was a grand total of... 1 game. But it isn't quite as dramatic like that. It also misses that they had tied for the 4th best record in the AL, and 7th best in all MLB. or that 2 of the 4 teams in the AL which had those great records have taken major steps back this winter. But sell that narrative.
  11. -What do you get out of knowing exactly who is reacting to your posts, that won't result in negative problems on the board? Are you telling me that no one is going to start questioning people about reacts? If you can promise me that, we can talk about changes there. -I see no real reason we only need one react. Some things are funny. Some things are like worthy, and others are worth a little more. Not sure what the problem with having different reacts is there. -I promise you the system you are describing will results in more problems for admin/mod staff. In this very thread we already have had one person today losing his mind about his reacts and threatening to call out people who he disagreed with because " Let them continue making asses of themselves. That's fine. I will not stop pointing out how much it makes them look like one. ". This is EXACTLY why we don't want everyone to be able to see reacts. We don't need more people engaging in this entitled behavior because they don't like the reacts their posts get. That isn't the kind of "dialogue" we want here.
  12. Come on, we need a few more paragraphs on this.
  13. That is a lot of consternation for someone who mentioned more than once they don't look at it, and don't care. We have definitely altered the set of reactions over time to better fit what we wanted them for. The idea was to have there be a little bit more personality within the site, and let's be honest, 98% of the time, they work and are utilized just fine. The only time they get "noticed" in this manner is when someone is out on a limb and doesn't like being told so. But at the end of the day, even knowing that there is some reaction to a post is a valid feed back. Not everyone is going to like your posts, some might even find them ridiculous. Having a way of giving that information without a personal confrontation isn't the same thing as just confronting someone every single time they are out of line. Maybe it actually could serve as a reflection point to the person who receives the feedback? Nah, the other person is the problem, who am I kidding in 2021.
  14. I hate the idea of giving up a quality prospect for him, and giving a spot to a guy you are gambling on in 2021. If we were still in a 2019 situation where results didn't matter, I would be more pro-Gray for sure. But in 2021, I would rather put a guy into the rotation you are pretty sure is going to be a 45-50 out of 80 with a high level of certainty, versus a guy who could be a 55 if things go right, but could also be a 35 or a 40. The search for lottery tickets is more limited now.
  15. Also @fathom is now banned. Nothing at all related to laugh reacts or anything like that.
  16. Very, very rarely is it admins who use the laugh function unless it is actually funny. For example in this recent string, not a single laugh react was from an admin. The reason for anonymity is that is supposed to be a post feedback system. If a person really wants to tell you that your post is stupid/funny/excellent, they can also respond. if you look at it at a high level, if you keep getting the same kids of reacts, there is probably a reason for it. That was the idea behind keeping this as a new feature with the upgrade a few years ago. As an admin/mod group when we talked about it, the general feeling was that what was the upside to having that information out there? So that the same posters who are complaining now can derail threads by tagging people and asking for a public explanation of why they posted the reaction that they did? What good does that serve? Do we really want to derail more threads so people with hurt feelings can get it all out? We already got rid of most of the negative feedbacks, including the actual -1 stuff because of the way it was being used. The laugh function does at least serve a purpose. If you can make a compelling argument that it won't cause more harm than good we will listen, but trust me when I say we have talked about these things before.
  17. It is available to the admin staff to be able to observe if there are any issues, and that seems to work just fine.
  18. Apparently I have already started blocking him out as Cespedes, lol.
  19. I believe you called this technique "deflection".
  20. This year is too soon, unless you are referring to maybe at the end of a season where he flies through the minors. I don't see a scenario where he starts out the season on the major league roster.
  21. Depending on cost, Semien would be a great add on for this team, especially if he can even add a passable corner OF to his resume. Super utility guy to start and then you know Moncada and Anderson both typically miss time during a season.
  22. Assuming he stays healthy, I am sure he and Burdi both will get their chances.
