  1. They already have rules as to who qualifies for the international signings period and who becomes a free agent. Unless they want to renegotiate everything with the union, it is logical to leave alone what is already separate. If they wanted things to make the most sense they would just add the international kids to the regular draft just like hockey and the NBA do. But again, they already have a system in place that works, so they aren't going to throw all of that away to start over.
  2. I am on the edge of the lake effect belt and we have had less than a foot of snow total this winter. I know we are supposed to get around 6 inches in the next day, but this winter has been a joke for the most part.
  3. Of your starting list, one was signed, one wouldn't qualify for the international draft, and one was a trade. Also keep in mind this will involve all of those 16 year olds that are signing, so now teams would have to choose between more sure things with lower superstar potential like Cespedes and Colas, versus guys who have the unlimited ceiling but are 5 to 7 years away from it. We already see that today in the MLB draft with teams choosing between college and HS players and how to weigh development versus potential.
  4. Obviously the actual gathering itself has been cancelled, but it is one of those signs along the way to let you know you are almost through the long cold winter. Now if Rick could give us the Soxfest Surprise signing and get a hole or two taken care of, that would suffice for me.
  5. Combining Hendricks with Bryant will make the return interesting.
  6. Baha, I totally misread that into the context of his 1 year old daughter.
  7. The best part of this? What his daughter is named. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/gordon-beckham-looks-back-hype-and-pressure-being-white-sox-savior
  8. The failures of the President reverberate. Instead of treating this like a national emergency or war, he treated it like a wedge issue and sold a partisan viewpoint full of lies and misdirection to the public. That all still ripples \
  9. Gutsy to trade things for a guy after 2 TJS's
  10. Well at least we know there is one team the Hawks can beat.
  11. Who is "we"? When it comes to cost, I would be against about half of this list because of prospects lost.
  12. I actually mentioned that when the trade took place. Then again I didn't call it an all in trade, and then try to reframe the argument when it blew up.
  13. One not top rated prospect starter and a mediocre spending isn't "all in". Again, for someone who talks loud about comprehension, your answer is in your own words. A PITCHER. Not even close to the highest rated one we have. Not Kopech. Not Cease. Not Kelley. Not Crochet. Not Vaughn. But all in. With A pitcher. This is disingenuous at best.
  14. Holy crap. For someone talking about comprehension, you 100% didn't understand that was an entire sentence.
  15. Nah, it's everyone else who thinks this who has the problem.
  16. Haven’t people learned that Hahn is underplaying his cards this winter to tamp down expectations?
  17. Get back to me when Richards actually throws more than 80 innings in a season. 37 year old Adam Wainwright did it. 28 year old Garrett Richards didn’t do it. 29 year old Garrett Richards didn’t do it. 30 year old Garrett Richards didn’t do it. 31 year old Garrett Richards didn’t do it. 32 year old Garrett Richards didn’t do it. But we should pencil 33 year old Garrett Richards in for a season. No that makes perfect sense.
  18. That isn't really the equation though. It is more like 2/6 of a season of Richards and 4/6 of ReyLo and whoever else versus a season of Wainwright.
  19. Uh, if you have World Series asperations, that all goes out the window. You ride these horses as long as you can. You don't potentially punt on your top pitcher because "control" if you are the White Sox.
