    Wow. Just wow.

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Common sense changes all the time. Common sense told us that the sun, moon, and stars revolved around the flat earth. Common sense would tell us that a box cutter couldn't cause an airplane to crash into the World Trade Center. Tex, is this bizarro day? You agree with me here, you agree with me on the WalMart issue. OK, what'd you do with the real Tex?

    QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Here's where you're wrong. Common sense security increases could have made a difference. How? It was common sense to believe that someone would try to highjack a plane with boxcutters? While, I do agree that "Common sense and FAA" don't belong together. There's plenty of little old lady's without their knitting needles and nail clippers that would agree with that.

    QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) I'm not blaming anyone or anybody actually. Reading the article, though, it just continues to blow my mind how the US government had been so complacent and ignorant to the imminent threat of terror attacks. I think if they jumped on every "imminent" threat we'd be on continuous lockdown.

    QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I believe airlines can set whatever stricter standards they want. There are many areas that different airlines have diffferent cargo, checked bags, and carry on restrictions. The challenge the intelligence community has is sorting through threats without means and opportunity from threats with means and opportunity. It is really easy in hindsight to come up with the correct action, far harder when the stuff is mounding over your desk. I thought the FAA set the standards when it comes to knives, guns, etc. I'm just pointing out that they didn't break any laws getting on the planes.

    Tax Question

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) I am pretty sure that it all stays tax free. But I am sure one of the resident CPA (ie-nerds) can help you more. And you're not?

  12. This goes into my "When did it become cool to..." List. Along with: Blackout covers for head and tail lights (Yeah, it's cool that it makes it difficult for the guy behind me to know that I'm stopping) Bending up the license plate on their motorcycles. (OK, I'm speeding, let me give the cops another reason to pull me over) Driving with only fog lights when it's not foggy. (You still need your tail lights on when it's dark, asshole!)
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Wow a post without reference to deaths. Must have hurt him.
  14. I hope no one honestly took this seriously.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) That's part of the problem. I hate being slow at work. Plus the pay sucks, and there is no incentive for preformance. Actually with the bonus structure there is more incentive NOT to work. No incentive for spelling either, huh?
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) I had Jury Duty today --- $17.20 for me \m/ Too bad I put 50 miles on my truck round trip, and had to buy lunch. 50Miles/13MPG = 3.84Gallons * $1.99/G = $7.65 + lunch ($5.67) = 13.32 $17.20 - 13.32 = $3.88 divided by 6 hours of my day = $0.65 per hour.... So I've got that going for me..... Some places pay you mileage.

    Looks like I just made it in. 3 coils on one truck!!!!???? One coil puts a truck at 80,000 pounds (Legal limit for 5 axles). Yikes. If this wasn't a "Michigan Train" this guy is in so much trouble. Note: "Michigan Trains" are those trucks with a s***load of axles.
