There's actually a highly regarded (supposedly one of the best in the country) beer bar called Monk's that blends Cantilion lambic on-site and has a bajillion draft and bottleed Belgian beers, so that's on the roster for sure. Anybody here been there?

Heading out to Philadelphia this Friday for a conference. Any must-sees or must-dos other than seeing that bell with the crack in it or running up the "Rocky Stairs"? Planning on taking in the Phillies/Mets game on Friday night. I don't know how attendance has been, but I assume in this post-championship season it's been pretty good. Flying solo I'll usually not worry about tickets until I get to the park - is that a mistake this time around? Also hoping to get to the Aquarium over in Camden to see some people I know and hopefully getting to a museum or two. I'll eat cheese-steaks until whiz is coming out my ears, and I haven't decided if I'll work up to scrapple. Don't know if Alex PA is out there lurking, but if so, you know you are encouraged to seek me out and buy me beers. Thanks for any insights you all might have.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 12:20 AM) I received a bottle of Ron Zacapa 23 for my birthday, very good stuff. Yeah, at $45 a bottle, getting the Zacapa as a gift is much preferable to buying it. My birthday is coming up, by the way, in case teh SoxTalk community at large is wondering what to get me.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) Had some legit absinthe last night, and found out a ton of interesting info about it from my buddies dad, who is a huge enthusiast. I love the history and the wormwood lore surrounding the stuff, I love the louche (cloudiness) when water is added, but it remains a less than favorite drink for me. I can do it the traditional way with the sugar cube and cut 4- or 5-to-1 with water, but any other way and it's just too much overpowering anise flavor for me – like somebody just force-fed me a case of Good N' Plentys.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 02:58 AM) Throwing in the "fool" at the end made this post hilarious to me. This has been another edition of Eating Healthy With Mr. T. . . Fool!

Zaya 12 year Gran Reserva and El Dorado Demerara 15 year sipping rums tonight. If i had a bottle of Ron Zacapa 23 here I would be in rum heaven.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) Breakfast: tossed into some scrambled eggs, wrapped in a tortilla. I am a bit of a snob, I will only eat Guerra's Brand from San Manuel, Texas. The seasoning is perfect, and I know they use quality meat. Chorizo and eggs is just about the best breakfast ever.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 02:09 AM) I'm a little late. But happy b-day to the guy that started it all. ^^^

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) Looks like someone has a pearl necklace. Wow, that logo is either horrifically bad or a DaVinci Code-type of code warning that some of the priests were up to something.

Never a dine-and-ditch that a restaurant took it on the chin for, but a couple of years ago I caught up with some old students of mine in for a visit and totally absentmindedly and unintentionally stuck them with the tab for a few pints. I didn't get drunk or anything, but i was running late to meet the family somewhere and it completely slipped my mind to leave any money for the drinks I'd had on their tab. I didn't even think about it until the next day when I was at the hardware store and looked into my wallet to find the $20 bill that shouldn't have been there because I intended to pay my bill with it.

My wife was away at job training for most of the week so I used the opportunity to watch the entire LOTR extended trilogy over six consecutive nights. I still think those are outstanding films all in all.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) No, I remembered that in the colonies we refer to it as a sausage in the mouth! Michael: We just call it a sausage.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) I hope I can somehow sneak in with my pants already off. As a nevernude, I can do the same and still not get arrested.

QUOTE (mreye @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) "OK, I'm sitting down, relaxed and I've strapped it down." Brought a tear to my eye, especially since her grandmother had her saying, "Go Cubs" lat season. Outstanding.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) I'll take the bait, only it's more of a 20 sided die joke! Here it is...ready?! He failed his saving throw. If only I hadn't already cast a resurrection spell on some stupid paladin my 9th level cleric could do something. Dibs on the invisibility boots!

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Well, that's probably because it says on your chart you're f***ed up. Your s***s all retarded and you talk like a f**. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) You should have followed that up by saying "Im 'bating!" and asked if they serve mountain dew from the tap Did you happen to eat at Buttf***ers? No, but I did have on my Ow My Balls! T-shirt.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) Idiocracy was awesome on so many levels. I love the breeding chart at the beginning of the movie I took the family out to dinner last night and when my wife asked the waitress for a glass of water I said, "Water? You Mean Like Outta the Toilet?". She just stared blankly at me, like she usually does, of course. Some people just don't appreciate genius.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Or one of the EVERYONE who liked Office Space. Yeah, Office Space was well received and deservedly so. Fox seemed to almost intentionally not get behind the release of Idiocracy which obviously hurt it's success.
