QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) On another note, my son (English) had his English homework "corrected" last week by his English English teacher. Apparantly he had spelt the word colour wrong. He had spelt it "colour" and it was "corrected" by his teacher to "color". What is the world coming to? Damn American globaoisation. He'd probably tell you that you just spelled spelt wrong too. There are a couple of places where we have it flat out wrong here though. I'd much prefer 'petrol' to 'gaaass' (except that it would screw up a great Hawkism). And I'd like to fix the mis-spelling that stuck us with Aluminum instead of the standard international name for the element, Aluminium. THERE'S SUPPOSED TO BE AN "I" IN THERE, PEOPLE!!! . . . bloody tossers.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) No, that would be a buggerer. A bugger is another word for those realy crispy bits you can find up your nose, they're often green. But then again crisps are chips and chips are fries. . . so hard to keep up.
-
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) I think that's a bugger. I thought it was a bleedin' fairy.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) You smoke? You mean that means cigarretes too?!? No I don't smoke, but I was running out of Britspeak.

Cheekey runs the gamut from cute in a smarmy/smartass way to flirtatious. Tosser is interchangable with wanker, and more than just being an A-hole I think he's more of a chump. All I know is I'm going to go out and get pissed tonight. And nobody had better be bumming all me f**s.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) There's been an abortion thread, a music thread, and a few bush bashing threads since I came back... have I said a word? that's right, b**** I missed Jim too much. And posting on soxtalk during the season was bad luck. So I stay away until now. The off season, is my season s***. . . you are off your game. Yep, the off season is definately SLaP season. and

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I'm glad PA is back Ah, but which PA?. . . that's the question.

Proud to say I don't own a single PC. Between work and home I have six Macs though.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) PA speaks balls? It also means rubbish.

QUOTE(HineyBird @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) this guy is a rat he was a prosecutor that prosecuted the mob in philly. he is another bushwacker that will only further ruin the country I don't know the Philly deal, but he was the lead prosecuter in a Jersey mob case that got botched and the guys walked. And from the sound of your post, Hiney, you think he was in the wrong to prosecute mob guys? Lay off the Good Fellas, Bro.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Can someone help me with definitions for 'Wanker', 'Bollocks' and 'Cheeky"? Every time I think I have them figured out, I hear them used in a different way. SS25K is a wanker, everything PA says is bollocks, and ChiSoxy is cheeky. Any questions?

QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) I know it's my call, I'm asking your opinion, damnit! OK then, if you don't slip him a Grant or better you are a cheap ass. How is that for an opinion?

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Did you mean gobbing? I love that word, a real full,phlemy spit. Gouting, no idea. No, I had to ask one of the Resident Brits here what exactly minging meant. He said it was an army term for ugly or dirty and he gave all of those other ones as synonyms. He said it's noy the word so much as the cadence in the way it is said. Personally I think he makes it up as he goes along. I mean, he spends all day studying sponges, so how in the know can he be?

Very nice to see some honesty out there. As far as the reward, just for avoiding the hassle of replacing credit cards and a trip to the DMV for a new license I'd figure that's worth at least fifty bucks or so. But that's completely your call.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) A'hem. I was hoping you'd stumble on that. Yeah, we're doing our part to kill the language as well.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) They're both totally minging. Thank God they can't reproduce with each other. Although, each day William looks more and more like Charles. Ish. Minging, yes. Gipping, gopping, and gouting even, sez this here septic. Stop Brit Language Abuse!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) I'm also interested in how many civil liberties the government can take way in the name of terrorism. I'm interested in what controls the government should and will take over bio-technology. So many issues, but thankfully the writers of the constitution thought of all of them. They also wrote an ingeniuos secret plan for dealing with the eventuality of when our robot servants finally rebel and become our evil overlords. The Founding Fathers are tehRox0rz!

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) You know what I don't get? A Kapkomet original thought here : Why the hell is it that if we were to find an amoeba or *ANY* single cell on the planet of Mars, the next day the headlines would scream, ***LIFE ON MARS*** but an abortion isn't killing life? /Carry on. Serving only to muddy the waters, bear in mind that as much as 50% of normal pregnancies terminate in spontaneous abortion very early on and usually without the mother even knowing she was pregnant. For all the 'God's Will' folks, does this mean God is the perpetrator of more abortions than the combined totals of all the world's abortion clinics ever? The truth is these are really huge and tough ethical questions above and beyond the legal issues. I don't have any numbers handy, but I'm sure most of the women who get abortions are absolutely torn up over it. The image the pro-life camps paint that everybody getting abortions does so simply out of convenience and thinks nothing of the moral and emotional consequences is more of the fanciful black/white nonreality they have created for themselves.

Was there an actual skit, or just Pods on Weekend Update? Did I turn it off and go to sleep too soon? -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) I don't see how NBC can run radio spots promoting the show "Earl" with the main hook being; "if you watch Earl you'll get to see Jaime Presely in a bikini!" when a majority of the population has already seen her naked numerous times. Stop looking through my bedroom window, dammit!
