QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Just had a conversation - and it's true. the scrubs were waaaaay closer then this. we need to buckle down, and put on the hardhats, and JUST f***ING WIN. man, it's so f***ing close you can TASTE IT. They will. When we cross that "5 outs away" voodoo theshold it will be more than the average Cub fan can take. 'We got closer than you" is the only argument they had lefy going for them. That said, yeah, win the focking thing tomorrow and fly home heroes!

Amazing! History in the making. Freddy joins the ALCS SuperHurler's Pantheon.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) We're leading 2-1 in the ALCS, winning 6-2 in game 4. Kinda neat, eh? You have an amizing gift for understatement. THIS FOCKING RAWX!!!

Also, Tuesday's loss was the only game I tried to justdo a cap and not a Sox shirt or jersey as well. You should have seen me scrambling to get home tonight to get a Sox shirt on before the first pitch.
-
I've worn a different Sox cap each game. The game we dropped I was wearing a cap signed by Josh Paul. :banghead Big problem now, though. After tonight I'M OUT OF CAPS!!
-
Jon!!! I'm downright giddy after tonight's game.
-
OK, tonight's win was convoncing enough, and I just booked travel in for the weekend of WS Games 1 and 2. I'll be there, so the Sox sure had better be! Now, there's just that pesky matter of tickets. . .

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) LOL. Back in high school in Batavia, there was this guy who used to go to the McDonalds all the time who was "Mr Ham Radio". This guy drove with headphones on, 99 percent of the time, and had more than 20 huge antennas on his lime green escort. Always funny to see the guy cruise through Oh Sweet Mercy! A Lime Green Hatchback. It's a thing of beauty!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) IIRC there is a strict rule in the Missouri area about scalping and the way people try to get around that is by selling some crappy baseball card and including 4 free tickets to the world series to see the Cardinals. So people will pay like 1200 bucks for a freaking Willie Harris card or whatever (if you had like 4 tix). DOn't know if that really makes it legal, but its what I remember seeing be done a few years back. Yep. The old "Blind Pig," theme and variations. To get around various liquor sales laws, proprietors would charge a cover charge to see some 'amazing' sight in the tavern, like a blind pig or something equally stupid. Then they'd just happen to serve 'free' booze to the folks who seem unusually interested in seeing some crap in the back room. Very creative.

Ach, I have a love/hate relationship with Metro anyway. I saw some good shows there, but also some clams - mostly to appease the Metro junkie girlfriend who was the high school love of my life. Could have been worse, I guess. She could have been a Cubs fan.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Gracias, don't you think that they should all be selling them since it's through ticketmaster? Supposedly, NONE of those outlets are supposed to sell. Other than the main phone line and the central online sales, none of the satellite sites are supposed to sell. But, we know some did because that's how at least one person here got tix for the ALCS. Bottom line, try anything and everything!

Jon is going to get it done tonight, and the bats are going to wake up, and all will be right with the world.

Point Taken. I guess the cbgb mystique would not be so huge either if you replaced The Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie, and Talking Heads with the Starland Vocal Band and Shaun Cassidy either.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) I would open up a nightclub to feature metal and punk shows. Give that sonuvab**** Joe Shanahan a run for his money... And maybe you could talk R.E.M. into being the the first act booked in your club like he did. . .

QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) Ooo Goody! I think that's the only way I can talk my wife into getting some. We have 0% for like 2 years on purchases. Then get me 4 too while you're at it.

My kids -7 and 6 - know every word, and we sing it in the car on the way to their school in the mornings. Twice as loud now that it's October. Growing up in Beverly and being a vinyl junkie I was a big fan of Beverly Records (they also were a magic shop then). Glad to see Mr. Dreznes is getting legal copies of the song into the hands of fans, and I don't mind seeing him make a little money on it as well. Mom and Pop music stores are almost extinct these days.

QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Does ticket master take American Express? Yes they do.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) I have wanted to own a pet store for my whole life. I probably will someday. Stores like PetSmart and Petco make it pretty difficult for small petstores to compete though. Mr. Peebles, How much is that gorilla in the window?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) but I wouldn't invest money in it. Took me like 5 minutes to finish. But, hell, Tex. Using that logic you'd never hire a prostitute again?!? The Kidding and the Caring and all that Claptrap. . .

QUOTE(Bridgeport Sox @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) I don't care..I still think he's a horrible coach But it's kinda cool that he looks like a Ferengi. Not to the degree that Reggie Miller looks like a Ferengi, of course. Quick, Find the Ferengi! See? Not so easy, is it?

Scientists see 50-100 massive stars newly formed in the dust cloud around the Milky Galaxy's central black hole. They are 30-50 times as massive as Sol, and 100,000 as luminous. Since they're burning so big and bright, they'll likely burn out and go superniva in a relatively short 5 million years. Neat stuff going on in the universe. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/10/13/b...reut/index.html
