QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) = 3 syllables less. Good try though, and good song. 15, 13, and 16 syllables if I'm counting correctly = Itsy bitsy missed it by 1 syllable.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) DBAH0 is good Soxtalk poster that helps the long nights at work become somewhat bearable. YASNY is a class act and someone who's opinions I always respect even when they diverge greatly from my own. Judging from that last post, he may or may not also be the Maytag Repair Man.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Change in My Hand - Primitive Radio Gods. (1996) = 3 syllables less. Good try though, and good song.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) i thought ghosts of mars was a terrible movie....but that's my opinion.. I heard as much and that's why I've not seen it.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) Flaax, what about "They Live"? "I came to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum." Well, while Rowdy Roddy Piper certainly is a sign of quality B-movie cinematic entartainment, I'd have to put they live a little further down on the list of Carpenter offerings. I'd put Vampires, Prince of Darkness, and even The Fog (and I think I'm the only person who ever say that film) above They Live. I've not yet seen Ghosts of Mars so I don't know how that compares. Maybe it's a guilty pleasure admission, but I think one of Carpenter's best films - and one that shows he's got some depth - is the now near-cult status action/comedy Big Trouble In Little China. The guy put Kurt Russell to work for a while there, didn't he? Then there was Starman which I really disliked.

That's an easy one. For the White Sox to have a World Title-type season, it is vital that EVERYBODY (from the offense), and EVERYBODY from the pitching staff have great seasons. And you guys call yourselves baseball minds... Seriously, I'll go predictable on offense and say if PK puts together another complete year that's going to the spark everybody else. And if Garland can put it together and get +-15 wins at the back of the rotation then the rest of the staff will relax and each of them can do their own thing and give the team a chance to win every night.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) I would place this up with "Halloween" and "Escape From New York" as Carpenter's best work. Not in the top 3. His remake of The Thing, poor man's Alien though it was, is still up there on the intensity scale and has to be considered superior to Precinct 13.

So the Boras/Magglio party line has gone from "he'll be happy to workout for any team" to "any doctor you want can examine him" to "take a look at the the selected medical history we provide, and yes he is actually doing a little 'baseball activity' but for all you know that may be spitting and scratching his nuts..." And somehow teams are still interested...?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Evil Jester rules because he always has such flattering pics of me up in his avatar. Wow, the total package. We already had you pegged as a perfect 11 from the neck on up after all.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) winodj once licked a coffee table. When it comes to comparing brain pans, Soxy can go toe to toe with the best of them. I secretly want to be her phrenologist. Now, if only she can get a handle on this whole scientific method thing...

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey That used to be my favorite submission for the song category in family charades games. Man, the cousins would blow a gasket trying to act that out. btw, can you think of a song with a longer title than that?

Bart Johnson was the first sports autograph I ever got as a kid. He was the speaker at one of my little league banquets. I remember that I also got a pretty cool White Sox transistor radio that night for selling x-number of raffle tickets. That was like 600 years ago, of course.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Add mine. How much is it worth to the US to have Democracy in Iraq? $100,000,000,000 and 10,000 dead? What price is too much? Friends and families of those lost on all sides in this conflict remain in my heart and thoughts. As far as the $100,000,000,000 price tag... including the new $80 billion request, didn't we pass that milestone like $100,000,000,000 ago?

Yeah, but it looks like a really cool service! I paid a couple hundred $ for a fractal based Photoshop plug-in to do what these guys will do for free. I have to try it out. We're about to close on a new house and I was not looking forward to the Disney character murals I had promised to paint in the kids' bedrooms (I did it in their nursery and now I'm roped into it again I guess). Now I think I'll save time and rasterbate some images instead.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Chaos is a true Conservative Wing Nut. I hope to enjoy a brew with him one day soon. Mike, this doesn't seem to be going too well. I really like Mr. Eye's great big eye. And I think National Complement Day is a really awesome observance, destined to one day replace 'bring your neighbor's kid's dog to work day' in the great pantheon of observances to note with annoyed indifference.

CART MASTER: Bring out your dead! CUSTOMER: Here's one. CART MASTER: Ninepence. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! CART MASTER: What? CUSTOMER: Nothing. Here's your ninepence. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! CART MASTER: 'Ere. He says he's not dead! CUSTOMER: Yes, he is. DEAD PERSON: I'm not! CART MASTER: He isn't? CUSTOMER: Well, he will be soon. He's very ill. DEAD PERSON: I'm getting better! CUSTOMER: No, you're not. You'll be stone dead in a moment. CART MASTER: Oh, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations. DEAD PERSON: I don't want to go on the cart! CUSTOMER: Oh, don't be such a baby. CART MASTER: I can't take him. DEAD PERSON: I feel fine! CUSTOMER: Well, do us a favour. CART MASTER: I can't. CUSTOMER: Well, can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long. CART MASTER: No, I've got to go to the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today. CUSTOMER: Well, when's your next round? QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) They did mention the local Community College offered the same course, using the same textbook, with a Dr. as professor. I think if they had their choice, they would sub all the prerequisite stuff to the Community College. Well if that is a viable option I take back my harsh words about the administration. I know a lot of schools only let you apply CC/JC course hours in your first two years though, so if this is a degree requirement with several prerequisites and they had that rule it would still be hard to make it work.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:00 AM) There is a required course in the Psychology department that is only offered in the morning. The departments position is, if you want this degree, you will find a way to quit your full time job for a semester and take it because no one wants to teach this at all, especially at night. Making the people who run the dapartment a bunch of asswipes. If they agree to take on part-time students with day jobs, families, etc., that is a heck of a place to drop the ball.
