Stuppidist thing you have done involving alcohol?
QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) I once licked a coffee table. That's just a funny statement. It should be in the Catch-all Anything thread - freed from the shackles of context that simple statement of fact can soar to great heights.

Hey William Tell!!!
Double-dog damn! That's the same clip with the same penguin falling through the ice, and the same Bad Penguin videoshop'd into two different spots to do the shoving and the tripping! Good stuff, Maynard!

Hey William Tell!!!
QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) From all I have heard, it is fake. Yeah, I can see the flipper push being faked - but the pengin stumble into the drink has got to be real. Fark HOF material here. I do think the leg trip clip out ther eis real - I have to find it again. EDIT: well dang, on further review this one is also faked (but funny) http://www.veryfunnydownloads.com/downloads/videos/DODO.MPG Again, this clip sems to be taking advantage of the inherent clumsiness of these animals and embellishing a natural pratfall. Do you think Chevy Chase was a penguin in a past life?

Stuppidist thing you have done involving alcohol?
QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) So my question is what is the stuppidist thing you have done with alcohol while under age. Let's just say that for me the severity of the stupid thing could not be fully assessed until about a month after the stupid thing occurred. Thankfully my li'l swimmers must have been as drunk as I was and it ended up being merely one night of stupid instead of the stupid that keeps on giving.

Question about doing taxes?
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Yet you still have a no Sox related poker ad in your signature. That constitutes spam in my book & I think this is a no-spam site. I can't recall one other poster who has done such a thing. We need to have a sitdown about commercial links in sigs I think. All I know is that I now get 100+ spam emails a day on my personal account because I registered at one of those sites and I have regretted it ever since. So, be forewarned and think before you link.

Hey William Tell!!!
I posted on it earlier too - it's hilarious and it had me watching it for minutes on end and laughing out loud EVERY TIME Bad Penguin tripped the other guy! WTell may chime in, but I think it's real footage. I've seen another equally funny clip of emperor penguins where one sticks out a foot and trips another one. I've always assumed such antics are just part of them being pretty clumsy out of the water... but maybe there's a mean streak in there somewhere? I mean, what about that Bad Penguin from Wallace and Grommit?

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Yeah if that's the case, no sympathy is deserved. Man, you guys are tough. I've seen lots of students in that position and within reason I like to try to get them into a class even if they were the ones not planning their schedules right. I try to put myself in their position of having to put everything off by at least a semester if not a year -- a lot of grad schools still only start new students in the fall so if you miss it by a semester, you have to wait a whole year or find another school. I'm a big pushover that way I guess. But, go ahead and be hardasses about it. Just make sure the students don't know where you live.

Sun Times article on Iguchi, fans, & 2005 lineup!
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I just don't think it's worth b****ing about. After April 15th, it won't matter. There is so much emphasis on who's number 2 .. or 3 .. or 4 .... and it really doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Really, all that matters is who is in the 5th starter spot If they plan on taking advantage of off days and skiping the spotto keep other guys on 4 days' rest. I thought there was an earlier suggestion that El Duque would take the 5th spot for exactly that reason, since he's only pitched 130 or so innings the last few years while we regularly get 200+ from Garland. That and the fact that he is probably more of an injury risk than Jon made him a logical 5th starter choice, but I must not be up to speed on what the club has been thinking on this.

WilliamTell's evil penguin avatar cracks me up. Bad Penguin! Bad Penguin!- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Why do students think that, "I need this class to graduate" is a compelling reason to be let into a full course? Your poor schedule planning does NOT mean that I am going to reorganize my life--or break the rules. You used to fight da Man. Now you are da Man. Authority sucks!... now I'm auditing that class so save a seat for me.- Jesus is everywhere
QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) The bible is a living document. That is to say that it has been updated, modified over time through various different editions and translated. Although the basic story is the same, its odd how you can different messages and emphasis from edition to edition. That always makes you wonder if the translators were always as divinely inspired as the original authors are purported to be. More often, though, they have instead been socio-politically inspired so that new translations stroke the right groups (Romans when they were in power), villainize the right groups (Jews when everyobody was already heaping on them as an oppressed minority), and disenfranchizes the groups that need disenfranchizing (women, who quickly went from being of great prominence early Christiandom to being very effectively marginalized by reactionary male church leaders).- Dull offseason or is it moi?
After an apparant slow ("under the radar") start, this has turned out to be a great offseason. If the news of the Iguchi signing is true, then I'll grade Kenny a solid A this off-season. Damn, I'm getting antsy now... How many days until pitchers report?- Tadahito Iguchi Signed
If that information is correct (my head is still spinning after reading that), then major props to KW for this offseason! Thanks KW!- Johnny Carson
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) The undisputed King of Late Night TV .... and the best of them. He'll be missed. Here, here! Johnny!- ACLU, that bastion of free speech.
Well said and well explained, Tex. You wouldn't think it would need to be s p e l l e d o u t for an educated readership, but people can surprise you.- McDonaldland
QUOTE(Jake @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Someone please tell me what this is Ooh, Oooh, I got one, I got one... In a terrible menu mix-up, Ronald McDonald instead of giving a patron a Fillet-O-Fish ends up serving up an order of Fellati-O-Fish. With extra tartar sauce, of course.- ACLU, that bastion of free speech.
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) If a person wants to put a crucifix, a giant cross with a Jesus being crucified, a 2 ton 10 Commandments monument ON THEIR PROPERTY, they are more than welcome to do so. However, they cannot and should be able to put it in public buildings run by the state... It sure seems simple enough, doesn't it? But then you get the "damn activist judges" (I thought those could only be liberal) who don't get it and want the Ten Commandments in their courthouse and can't figure out what all the hoopla over it is.- Inauguration
QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) The only point they have to espouse is that "Bush sucks" but what else is new? Please. wino was just reiterating what a number political analysts - even Righties like Peggy Noonan - have said: the speech was well written and poorly/uninspiringly delivered. And Bush does suck.- Does Hanson really suck?
No, Hanson doesn't really suck. They just regular suck.- Bush Administration receives call from above
QUOTE(PoohIss @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) If I remember correctly, Kerry believes in God as well. What's the difference? God and W are tight.- McDonaldland
QUOTE(Jake @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Someone please tell me what this is I guess some would consider it a Happy Meal?- Bush too stingy for God
A humorous moment, but to be fair, the President usually doesn't carry a wallet or money or identification with him.- Oh this is going to look great...
QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) haha self inflicted.. i laugh at that lets see... I have pierced my eyebrow with a safety pin (in study hall in 10th grade) the same year i stuck a safety pin through my lip and closed it, got sent to the principal for reasons I do not know.. whenever i have a strange bump or sore I dig at it with a knife and/or cut it off myself I have a little scar on me left bicep where I cut out a little chunk of skin to see if it would hurt, which it didnt pretty much anything that would have to do with sticking poking piercing or cutting to myself I will do it... I have a very high tolerence for pain.. I got my first tattoo on the back of my neck, like on the top of the spine and it didnt bother me at all.. I dunno whats wrong with me Yikes...- ACLU, that bastion of free speech.
Nuke, your initial post suggested Meyers was 'about to get kicked off,' and he may well believe that but it doesn't make it true. From the NYT piece, noting that th call for a hearing on this came from an Oregon Chapter member: It DOES sound like they're having problems, but even the bastion of free speech is going to have governance issues. - Kind of Sad
