I'd like to point out that this has had 0 impact on his polling thus far.l

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) At the very least, we seem to be avoiding a double-dip. But we still need to see slightly better gains, and for a few more months, before it is time to say the recovery is truly gaining steam. Agreed. But my sense of it, through my job at least, is that I feel that the economy has actually been a little better than the numbers say for quite a while now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) Serious question...have many Democratic public figures actually spoken about this case? Just pundits and advisers. When the GOP is in Circular Firing Squad mode, why get in the crossfire?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) And UE rate falls to 9.0. Been a strange year in the jobs market. Things were starting to look pretty decent in the early months of the year, then things fell back a bit, now picking up a little steam again... but none of it nearly enough to really up the curve. Need like 150k job add numbers, and 375k or less new filiings, consistently for at least a few months, to start really picking up steam. Behind the numbers, things look better. I think they "found" another 100+K jobs in August and September, so this report was actually a net gain of 200K. Also to be noted, the bigger U6 number dropped to 16.2 from 16.5, still really high - but a nice uptick.

Or a sweet gesture for someone on his staff.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Listen to the video. There is pretty much no chance that Corzine didn't know about this. There is a very small chance that this accounting fraud has been short term. That means he has probably lied to regulators repeatedly, and it means he seemingly lied to the companies who were looking to buy the company, such as Interactive Broker and Jefferies. All of those are securities crimes, and doing them willfully is a slamdunk for jailtime. This makes me sad to hear.

I went from a 2005 Scion xB to a 2011 Kia Soul this year. Loved both cars, because they are both small but have an amazingly large amount of space inside them. Performance wise - they're small engined and sluggish. But my speakers light up and that's a plus.

And now he's saying he was aware of the financial settlement after all http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com...-led-sex-charge Sorry, I don't buy this. If it was baseless and you settled to make it go away, why wouldn't you just say that in the first place? To say it was a lie less than 24 hours before you admit it wasn't is not a good sign.

So yeah, NBC News has confirmed that there was a settlement on at least one of the two allegations. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/...cash-settlement

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Because f*** Pink Floyd. Agreed. Plus the album was more about feeling isolated due to his "rockstardom" than anything about really getting high.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Blaming this on the media can certainly work. It worked for governor a**-grabber in California. The LA Times ran that same type of story a week before the election, and they still won by saying it was a liberal media smear. Turned out of course he wasn't just a womanizer, he'd had a child with a housekeeper about 2 years beforehand, so the LAT was right on track...but they were the liberal media, and that attack worked. Yeah, but then again - an actor who has always been known as a womanizer of sorts isn't going to be as big of an effect. There are a whole lot of different mechanics that make Cain's situation different.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Just for the record, I'm not assuming that these allegations are true by posting this, just noting it because it is clearly campaign newsworthy. When your whole campaign is about having the character to be President, this could be a deathblow. It's not like he has foreign policy knowhow to fall back on. Or any kind of actual knowhow.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) Am I wrong, or could Mitch Daniels enter this race tomorrow and have the nomination locked up by March? I think you're wrong. Rick Perry felt the same way, and well - look how that's turning out.

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) I agree. I frankly don't see how Obama gets reelected. It's a tough push, but at the same time - in my mind the GOP path to electability starts and ends at Mittens. I do think Obama has a shot, but he has to hold onto some states that would be pretty tenuous for him this time around (PA, NC, NH, FL)
