  1. Hasn't Bill Frist already pretty much announced. That's why he's retiring from the Senate in the first place.

Take it with a grain of salt but.... http://www.webbforsenate.com/media/phone_message.wav Fox News poll shows a wave of Dem support tomorrow. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,227707,00.html

  4. McGreevey was a crook. As to whether or not it "destroyed" his marriage is up for debate. I have a feeling that this marriage was created knowing full well about his sexuality. He wants to get married now. He opposed gay marriage before he came out. If he wants to get married now, great. But he's a hypocrite of the same degree as Haggard. PA: Whoda thought we'd agree on all these issues even three weeks ago?

  6. PA, Frankly I think the whole situation sucks. It sucks for the thousands he hurt by lying about who he is. It sucks for the hundreds of thousands more who might be hurt tomorrow by lying about who he is. And it sucks for him. When I first heard about the situation, there was an O Henry chuckle moment, yeah. But I think its horrible that people are so uncomfortable with who they are that they have to turn to this level of deception to others and even themselves. And I think its horrible that our society, and in some ways the faith that I claim as my own, make the idea of repression and discrimination and flat out hate so accessible and acceptable sometimes.
  7. As the wind blows, so do most of your posts. But some of them are good enough to be posted here. On the Quotes of the Month thread. Yeah.
  8. It's funny about the narrowing polls. Because some of the blogs I read are full of Chicken Little's saying "the sky is falling" because a 12 point lead suddenly dropped to a much closer 6 or 7 points. What will probably happen? A Democratic House and a 50/50 chance at a Democratic Senate. (I still think a 50-48-2 with Cheney getting the tiebreaker vote is most likely). So what's considered a Democratic party success in my view? Getting one house in their column. A year ago, the Democratic party was looking at a best case scenario of 10 pickups in the house and maybe two in the Senate. As of last week, close to 80 House seats are in some form of contention. Leaning one way or the other, toss up - or close enough that the Republicans had to throw money they weren't expecting on it. The potential is there for three to eight pickups, with possible Dem additions in PA, OH, RI, MT, MO, VA, TN and AZ. A year ago, PA and OH were on the radar, the rest - not so much. What a difference a year can make.

    Mono

When I found out I had mono, there was no doubt about how sick I was. I actually passed out asleep on my way to a couch in my fraternity house. They have to take a bloodtest to know for sure, btw.
  10. Hevesi is less corrupt than Giuliani. He had a state chauffeur drive his wife around in her car with her credit card being used for gas. Giuliani gave his wife a full NYC police detail to his mistress. While married. Plus his name sounds like a cognac. Added bonus!

    The Office

QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) I think it was "Closer to Fine." It was. I get that confused with "Closer to Free" by the BoDeans a lot though.
  12. I vote early. Early on Tuesday.
  13. So what are you doing in your district for election day? Anyone active with a campaign? Working the polls? Voting? I plan on voting and then I am in charge of helping to make sure Democrats in my town turn out. I get to run my towns GOTV plan.
  14. If you don't think pressuring leaders of Iraq to issue a verdict before Tuesday didn't happen, you're incredibly naive.
  15. 26.4 million this weekend. Over 30 grand per theater average. Damn.
  16. QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) Also, IIRC, wasn't most of the hype for SOAP months before it was released? All the hype I have been hearing about Borat started a lot closer to its release. I've been all about Borat since June. He's been doing press for it all summer and fall.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) SHHHHHHH! Shut up with the facts...it ruins a good story. It was the second sentence of this thread, Kap.
  18. There are plenty of people who are willing to use something like this as an excuse.
  19. Syd Barret's Octopus = prehensile Beck.
  20. I'm pretty much on the same boat with that actually EM. Although some do argue that separate but equal has been found unconstitutional before and so that this really isn't an option. But gay marriage amendments don't just ban marriage, they ban civil unions too. They also ban a whole lot of other things on accident.
