  1. I'm flying to Iceland next month. I have a crippling fear of flying. How can I get past it?
  2. Yes, because as I'm sure Algerians have noticed, the Muslim is king in France.
  3. To me, it doesn't and shouldn't matter to me. All that matters is that the rules apply equally across the board. If Gerry Studds married Anna Nicole Smith 10 days before he died, this wouldn't have mattered. Anna Nicole would have gotten the death benefits. Not because of any other reason than she's a woman.
  4. They were partnered for 25 years IIRC.
  5. He was that Congressman who had the affair with the page back in 1983 and got reelected after being censured.... He died last week. He's legally married in Massachussets. Congressmen receive a pension and after death, their spouse is entitled to death benefits equalling 50% of the pension. Congressman Studds' spouse was denied this pension. Because Congressman Studds' spouse is another man. And whose fault is this? Bill Clinton's. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachus...ecause_hes_gay/ Equal people deserve equal rights. Democrats or Republicans.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) Also, Tex, I didn't state any opinions other then to say what is wrong with all of us when it comes to joking about this kind of stuff, and not only that, the divide has gotten so bad that it's "acceptable" for this behavior. It's not. Plain and simple. My "manufactured outrage" was directed at society, not John Kerry. He's just an idiot for saying this the way he did. If America wasn't so politically poisoned to begin with, nobody would have even thought to make the connection between a bad joke and a threat to the President's life IMHO.
  7. I think you can fault Kolbe for not doing enough to make sure that the Foley thing was taken care of six years ago. However, this little investigation is based on an allegation that he gave a former page a hug on a family/staff camping trip and then nothing else happened.
  8. The judge said in her sentencing, that it was taking into account her breast cancer, her history as a public defender, and the fact that there was no apparent actual damage done IIRC.
  9. Well, when you taste success but don't fully reach it.... and when your crosstown rival gets the trophy you've wanted for almost 100 years... suddenly ivy on the walls doesn't seem as important as being competitive.
  10. I don't get the Men Women and Children album. There's just so much going on at once, it's like nothing's happening at all. I kinda love the concept though.
  11. When he isn't drowning kittens in a bucket.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) Sheehan went over the cuckoo's nest a long time ago. I cannot see the YouTube video here at work, but I'll watch it tonight. My gut reaction to the quote is, even if it was part of a joke, it was over the line. I'll reserve further judgement until I see it. My gut reaction is it wasn't a joke about killing anything. To say this is about killing George Bush is a pretty awful stretch. It was just a bad joke.
  13. OK, I found it... after searching a while. He said it on Real Time with Bill Maher. But it was immediately after a joke about killing two birds with one stone by buying Theresa a birthday present by getting it in New Hampshire. So is he saying he wants to kill the President? Or is it more just wishing he got elected in the first place? Here's my hunch. John Kerry ran for President. I think he really wanted to win. Cause he's running again in 2008. Something tells me that the remarks are more about wanting to be in the White House than hurting someone in it. But then again, your mileage may vary. PS: I don't care what Cindy Sheehan said. I haven't cared what she's had to say in over a year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIF7_P92ORQ Here's the link. Watch it yourself.
  14. Saying you wish you could kill someone is not the same thing as threatening to kill someone. But I still want to know where this quote came from, because it isn't on Drudge Report or Google News as of half an hour ago... and if John Kerry really said it, it'd be in 100 pt type on Drudge.
  15. I am indeed. You can too, just shoot me a PM. I can hook you up with a package... hotel, tix to the show and r/t airfare. It's not as expensive as you'd think.
  16. The Sugarcubes are reuniting for one night only! The show will be at Laugardalsholl Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland November 17th. This will be the first time that the indie rock legends will have performed with international superstar Bjork since 1992. Rex Kickass will be there. Also trying to catch the last show on Sufjan Stevens' two night Icelandic tour the following evening.
  17. It makes a difference because of the way this investigation is going. Instead of going towards people who are preying on pages. It's going towards gay people who like to give a hug.
  18. I liked Randi Rhodes, but it seemed like the more desperate they got, the more shrill she got.
  19. Yeah, it was only a matter of time and that's really been obvious for months from that network. I remember looking to work there when it first launched, but six months later - by the time I moved to the area, I didn't even consider it. Looked too much like a shop whose paychecks bounced.
  20. So now this investigation thing is getting ridiculous. Apparently 10 years ago, openly gay Congressman Jim Kolbe went on a trip to the Grand Canyon, invited five staffers, his sister and a couple former pages to join him camping. Someone reported Kolbe offered the pages a hug, but no other contact. Now he's under investigation too. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/13/kol...uiry/index.html There's a big difference between being an online predator and giving someone a hug. This investigation is silly. Remember Gerry Studds? He just died according to CNN.
  21. Except, nope. Might have been real after all. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/10/1...mple/index.html
  22. They probably have atomic weaponry but not nuclear. My guess is that their program is overstated as to what they actually have, the one person that can help us determine that conclusively is AQ Khan, who is under the protection of Pakistan.
  23. I think its a ruse. Classic socialist showmanship of weapons systems that don't really exist.
