Bush implicated in Plame leak
John Kerry, douche that he's become, actually sounded good on CNN yesterday. Made salient points and didn't make me fall asleep. Won't answer whether he's running.

Kerry calls for Iraq deadlines, exit
That's just Bushbashing! Honestly, I think you might have a point but it would be real difficult to motivate the American public to support an attack on Iran at this point. I don't know how doable that really is. I sometimes get the feeling that the government is trying to condition us for a state of perpetual war. That kinda concerns me.

Ready for $3 gas again?
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Actually a throw away paragraph saids it all in the middle of the story. More government regulations are most likely to blame for the decrease in supply. That's a direct difference from what I'm saying though. I'm not talking about changing chemicals in gasoline, I'm talking about requiring oil companies who receive corporate welfare from our government, like ExxonMobil among others, to spend a portion of their money maintaining and creating new refineries and processing centers so that supply can better meet demand.

Which would be exactly the wrong thing to do.

But gas supplies are down. Driving up gas futures, right? I'm not calling for price controls or anything, but I think that the government ought to regulate a minimum for capacity maintenance that oil/gas companies have to spend per year.

Wage Talk
Until last year, Wal-Mart considered an employee working 28 hours a week to be full-time. I worked for a radio station who's news director's salary in 2000 was 14K a year. His assistant was 12K. I worked for the third largest radio company in the country for a while and one of the assistants to the sales staff was making under 18K a year and working 50 hours a week. You'd be surprised how little you make on the low end of the white collar scale.

Ready for $3 gas again?
So Crude Oil inventories are up. But the price for crude is higher? At what point is our government going to come in and force some of these oil companies who control the production and distribution of a necessary product for our security and economy to actually build the refineries we need to increase capacity?

Kerry calls for Iraq deadlines, exit
I guess I used we in the larger sense. If left to its own devices, Iran will come in and take tactical advantage of the Iraqi situation.

Kerry calls for Iraq deadlines, exit
If it explodes, it explodes. It will explode if we leave, which would be bad. There's a better shot that it won't if we stay and at least try to improve the situation.

That's a great question. Internationalize our operation. Fly under the flag of NATO, or the UN. I don't know that we can get enough cooperation from the UN because of our previously poor diplomacy there, but having an internationalized force (at least in a name basis) may go a long way to help stem the violence. Get the Arab League involved to help with reconstruction. Actually make reconstruction efforts work. Get more Arab speakers into Iraq that can improve our PR scheme. There are plenty of things that we can do that people way smarter than me have come up with. But its up to our administration to listen to them. So far, they've turned a deaf ear to ideas from outside the inner circle.

Bush implicated in Plame leak
Apparently some of Scooter Libby's testimony came out today and there was confusion about what it was the President was authorizing a leak of.... The NIE assessment which is legal, or the Plame outting which isn't. CNN ran a two minute correction and apologized for the mistake.

Bush implicated in Plame leak
Turns out that this was an NIE assessment leak. Which is legal.

Bush implicated in Plame leak
Or not, never mind. CNN is correcting the story that the AP released 25 mins ago.

Not to sound too critical
I totally understand your points. What I'm concerned about is that its three games into the season and we haven't repeated as World Series Champions yet! I demand satisfaction now! Fire Ozzie! 1-2 after three games? How do we rebound from that? I mean we lost fewer games in the whole postseason last year!

Who knew that FlaSoxxJimm was responsible for stricter immigration laws - somehow I'd thought that would have been a combination of Congress and a problem with immigration. I was listening to WABC today and they were discussing a doomed proposal about letting legal immigrants vote in local elections (they can vote for school board in Chicago) in NYC. Then a self described "right wing as they come" caller admitted to hiring illegal aliens because he needed the cheap labor. Then he complained about how they're planning to stay home on May Day so that people can see exactly how big of a factor they are in our workforce. And suddenly there was no problem with employing illegal workers, the problem was the "gall" of those illegal workers to strike and demand anything at all.

I understand what you meant but I think a lot of people don't appreciate the idea of a third option besides "do the same thing" and "leave."
