Bush briefed on Levee breaches before Katrina Hit
Rex Kickass replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
I totally think she should be recalled and impeached. Of course, I feel the same way about our current administration. -
He didn't start with Stern's numbers. He started with a 0.0.

Bush briefed on Levee breaches before Katrina Hit
Rex Kickass replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) no one is saying that the federal government did a good job with this disaster but the local government did even worse, so you might want to place some blame on those "not my fault!" democrats in Louisiana don't worry, i won't hold my breath for an admission of fault That doesn't change the fact that the President lied - and there's no other way to put it - over expectations of Levee failure. -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) As usual, well reasoned opinions issued from the shores of good old Lake Woebegone. Except when he writes, its hard to figure out when to "chortle" appropriately.

Sounds like someone asked Ozzie about it and so he answered. Why all the drama?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) Before clicking on the link, how many of you can name the 5 tentants of the first amendment. Nationwide it is one in one THOUSAND. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4761294.stm I'm still trying to figure out what a tentant is

SD state legislature voting to ban abortion
Rex Kickass replied to samclemens's topic in The Filibuster
Enough with the needling. -
I think Cottman transmissions will do the same thing for free.

I thought that "Plan B" only worked to prevent conception which is why it was way less than 50% effective after 36 hours.

Yeah, I remember the Cubs/Sox game with Shingo vs Sosa. Nobody was sitting for that atbat.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) There's a major difference. The original two locations on Wabash have been around forever. The chains are more recent and were once run by a different person. He bought the original locations once the original owner died, but the pizza hasn't degenerated to the level of the chain stores just yet. So far his changes (pretty sure the dough isn't made daily anymore and that the veggies are frozen now) haven't killed it. The sausage and sauce thankfully remain unchanged, and the crust is still pretty good. By virtue of the sale contract, they agreed to never change the menu or way of making the pizza at the two Wabash St locations IIRC.

Yeah. It's one of the reasons I'm getting XM.

A Google Earth/U.S. Cellular Field Experiment
Rex Kickass replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's scary dude. Although I probably would have done the same thing if Google Earth worked on my computer. -
I'm sure he just has an axe to grind

Does that mean for whatever goes wrong in Afghanistan.... Blame Canada?

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Have you EATEN at Friday's? It sure made me angry enough to shoot someone. I ran over two women running away from that place last week. But this is talking about religion. And let's be honest Friday's wouldn't be involved here. Where are you going after church? That's right - I'm talkin Bob Evans baby.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) I agree with you about what Les should have done. They made BILLIONS of $$'s off Stern over the past decade alone. Stock in Inf/CBS or Sirius..? From what CBS is alleging. Sirius and Stern had a deal that he could receive several hundred thousand shares of Sirius stock in advance (as early as last month, when he received them) if they beat subscriber targets in time. Because he used his bully pulpit to relentlessly promote Sirius rather than doing a good show, and did so on the air with the intent of fulfilling his contract without CBS being a party to it, then Stern violated his CBS contract and what he did seems to fit the definition of payola.

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Yeah right, they got together at TGI FRidays for lunch on Saturday and hammered out the rough draft. I guess you're right. Better they spend their time shooting 78 year old men I guess.

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) I'm sorry, I'm not impressed. It's like a giant collective campaign promise-- sounds and looks good on paper, but in reality will not be carried out at all, and nobody will really care. Less statements, less feel-good-about-ourselves bulls***, more action. More putting up and more shutting up. Quit wasting tax dollars composing stupid worthless "Up With Catholic Politicians" mantras and do your f***ing jobs. This wasn't done on government time.

Awww. How cute. Air America is owned by a completely different company than the company that founded it. And yes, the loan in question has been settled and repaid. It was months ago.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) And when he crossed their line, they suspended him for a few days. If they had a bigger issue, they should have done more. Bottom line, he was their cash cow. They sucked it up for that reason alone. Now to come out crying makes them look like the idiots they are. This is much ado about nothing. I'm well aware of how powerful Stern is. I'm well aware of how the game is, and was played. Sirius screwed because they haven't turned a profit yet...? Ok... I think it was a mistake to let him stay on the air for so long as he did to milk it for the short term. If I was Les, he would have been sitting silent off air for months. But I also think that if he had stock options depending on his promotion of his Sirius show, and was doing it without Sirius paying CBS, that's payola of sorts. Which is supposed to be illegal.

I have heard him before. It takes some getting used to. He was one of the first baby Sterns to not be a baby Stern. I think if CKG wanted to pick up a new syndie show, they should have gotten Free Beer and Hot Wings. They can be pretty damn funny. They are right now out of Grand Rapids and run on a few stations in the Northeast and Tennessee.

I contemplated legally changing my name to Rex Kickass. It would look great on a business card. The quote is by the McCarthy that ran for president in 1968. He was the reason LBJ didn't stand for another term. And he said this great thing that's so applicable today.

Adam is doing the worst of the three. And Rover's show will find an audience in Chicago. He's done very well in the two dozen or so markets he was in before Stern left.

I think its a great thing. And I don't think this is all about abortion. I think this is about Democrats - of all makes, models and colors standing back up and taking back their faith. Too often we stereotype people on each side of the aisle of being overly pious bible thumpers or godless or whatever. The truth is that there are men and women on both sides of the aisle for whom religion and spirituality is important to them personally. And it should be known and celebrated.
