  1. FOXnews story was talking about 8 affiliates that aren't airing the show - citing it being a negative portrayal of Christianity. It also at the bottom of the story noted that the Episcopalian church, which is the denomination portrayed in the story, doesn't have a problem with it. In fact a diocese in California is attached to the show in an advisory capacity and says - something along the lines of although the message might be seen as mixed, we think its an awesome opportunity to talk about our faith.
  2. "BUSH IS AN STUPID." That's funny.
  3. You know what I love is that people seem to think its either broke off your ass or owning a Lexus. There is a middle ground. But then again, nobody here - not even the so called moderates on that board seem to understand that. Or they're so infected by the polemic that they claim to hate that they refuse to see anything in other than an us/them light.
  4. I've stopped taking joy in elected officials getting verbal "come uppance." It never changes anything.
  5. The jack is all jacked up, and its crap but I love the neck. It's so slender and fits my hand perfect. It's nothing special, it's just my first electric guitar and I love it.

    Joey update...

Steff, Im so sorry to hear that.
  7. I don't speak for them. Only of them.
  8. Because a protester getting the access to confront Bush is a lot rarer. Most of his "town meetings" are staged. So its rare that he would even get the chance to get talked down to.
  9. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Why do 'we' have to take care of them? The government shouldn't be a soup kitchen or a landlord. It is charged with protecting its citizens, but I don't nkow where it says it has to provide me a home and 3 squares a day. You want to help? Fine, go help, donate money, time etc. Millions of churches, groups and people, including me, have. That's where charity should end. Where did i say Government?
  10. Evil, I agree with you, he probably has forgotten meeting this guy. It's been four years, and I'm pretty sure more important stuff has crossed his mind than a piss-ant influence peddler.
  11. Actually, they have said stop the program and get the warrants. I think that was the whole point from the beginning. If we're fighting to protect freedom and the rule of law, why is it acceptable to throw out both in the name of themselves?
  12. So what do you do for the least of New Orleansians? Let's say someone's got a low wage, low skill job making in the 7-8 dollar an hour range in the New Orleans area and is renting. Chances are the person is just barely making enough to get by as it is, and may be in such a low income bracket that these flood prone houses or apartments are his only affordable spot he can find. How do we make sure these folks are taken care of? That's my concern.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) ...ummmm...wow...the praise of a Squire...I presume you have one? I love my thirty year old third hand squire. It's crap and I wub it.
  14. Because his radio show does well for some unknown reason.
  15. Just because he's well qualified doesn't mean he's the right person for the job. The Democrats aren't planning a filibuster at this point from everything I've read. But they are going to have a vigorous hearing. So we'll see what happens. Personally, I think its the President's perogative to nominate who he wants. Unfortunately, we elected someone who nominates people that I disagree with.
  16. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) So, if you take a subway somewhere and you don't have a weapon in your bag, nothing happens to you and you're allowed to go on your way. For the sake of argument, let's say that there is no expectation of privacy in phone or e-mail conversations anymore. If you're not plotting to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge via conversations with your buddy in Saudi Arabia, what exactly do you have to worry about? Just curious. If that were only the case, I think I could live with bag searches on the subway. But, its not. The NYPD has said if they find anything they can use against someone in a bag search, they will. So it might not be a bomb. It might be something else. Not related to terrorism and that would constitute a huge growth of access into your private life by federal or local authorities. You may not have a problem with it now. But what if one day it affects you. What if you're carrying a can of spray paint home to paint something at your house and they think its to tag up the subway station? Let's say your friend makes a joke to you about blowing something up on the phone and its intercepted for no real good reason. The joke comes out of nowhere and means nothing. But you're put under surveillance as a result. Would you be happy with that? Or would you be upset that a few words uttered by one of your friends is putting your life under the microscope? If you're saying "let them investigate me, I've got nothing to hide," you obviously have nothing worth protecting. You can have total security or you can have freedom. But you can't have both. I'd rather be somewhat vulnerable than watched at every moment. You know who ran the most famous surveillance programs of its citizens in the 20th century? The communists. The Stasi in East Germany encouraged children to spy and report on their parents and neighbor to do so against neighbor. Saying its ok to investigate someone without a warrant in any case, puts us a giant step closer to that.
  17. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) Some. All. One. What's the difference? A group is a group of "people", correct? And why should it matter if they're in that market or not? If they're not in that market, why are these affilates removing it? I don't know why, but it works sometimes. There's nothing I find more revolting than when I'm asked to participate in a direct action regarding something that affects a local market other than mine. I'm usually asked to pretend like I live in that town or state. I'm willing to guarantee that some of these stations were flooded by emails from "local" AFA members who didn't live anywhere close to the station signals.
  18. If it's inevitable, see how easy it would be to insure your house against it.
  19. Why? There are more than enough people who agree with him that will call his prayer line with their credit card.
