LEAVING THE LEFT
QUOTE(mreye @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Aren't you the one that always brings up Limbaugh, Hannity, etc? Actually, yes I do bring them up a lot. I don't honestly think that they speak for anyone other than their fat wallets. They are both blowhards worthy of my derision. And I assume that they speak only for the idiots who parrot out all that they say, lock stock and barrel.

LEAVING THE LEFT
Making the most extreme left wing folk in our movement speak for the rest of us is like saying that David Duke is representative of White America. Being Progressive, or left-wing, or liberal or whatever the hell you wanna call it has less to do with the people involved and more to do with the basic ideas involved. You can be a liberal without liking Susan Sontag as much as you can be a conservative without espousing the views of James Dobson.

What the hell dd I do?
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) What is making this fun is in the past my businesses have all revolved around manufacturing and representing companies. First it was primarily US based, then Mexico, then I was doing overseas purchasing offices in countries whose names I couldn't spell. A friend of mine jumped off that treadmill and started a lawn care business. A Canadian in South Texas, moving lawns I've been watching him for a couple years and he is so damn happy. The other part is my son is old enough and has a few skills that he can add and my wife is interested in helping with a few things. In the past there was really nothing they could do. So my transition to Texan is almost complete. Western boots (steel toed), 3/4 ton V10 Dodge pickup, and a big payroll. Hell, I'm 9/10 of the way to becoming a GOP-erhead If I didn't look so stupid in a western hat, I'd have to pick one up. How do you move a lawn? Very slowly I bet. Congrats though. For cereal.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) You know, that kind of pisses me off. LCR doesn't hate America, and neither do you. Not so sure about Kip. Seriously, you all have every right to question things, but whenever "conservatives" do, we get this slanted negativity about how we're labeling you all as "America Haters". I don't think you do, but you certainly have a different perspective, which the last time I checked is ok. I hope you weren't talking about anyone here, because I think that this has been a good debate for the most part. That has nothing to do with Soxtalk. I think there is generally an atmosphere in the country that one side has to be right, etc... You're pissed at Newsweek or you hate this country, You're against the war or you want to kill everyone.... There's just not enough nuance in this world these days...

Norm Coleman Gets Owned on MSNBC
I will say this for Wellstone, he was a man of conscience and elections be damned, he did what he thought was right in the Senate.

Hillary inviting Iowans to DC Fundraiser
Yeah, I am serious. She's been an excellent Senator, she does her job well for her consituents... and by the way, the polls in NY State show just that. I wouldn't want to see her run for President.

Irresponsible Journalism
LCR, now you're just hating America.

Hillary inviting Iowans to DC Fundraiser
I'd rather she continue being the excellent Senator she's been for New York.

No, don't look at the trail. It's the UNs fault.

Irresponsible Journalism
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) Which means they are reporting heresay, or a rumor? They were reporting a source close to the investigation who has since backed off his claim. This really isn't too hard to follow. From what that source said, they made a prediction. That is not good journalism, and that prediction is what was retracted.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 20, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Yeah, enough that they had to retract their bulls*** story. :rolly Actually pay attention to what they retracted. They retracted the prediction that a specific allegation would be discussed in detail. There is plenty of evidence out there on this subject already. However, Newsweek erred in making a prediction of what would be in a government investigation report. Again, retracting this story - doesn't mean that what they mentioned may have happened didn't happen, just that the government isn't reporting on it.

Music Suggestions
QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Im just going to list some albums Weezer. Either The Blue album or Pinkerton Oasis- Whats The Story Morning Glory Frankly Oasis peaked with Definitely Maybe. Whats the Story is a good album, their last moment before becoming Blowasis. Although the new single ain't bad.

Irresponsible Journalism
There is plenty of evidence to corroborate this news. Including a lawsuit filed against the government claiming the very same thing in October 2004.

Trump rips WTC2 design, pushes own idea
QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ May 19, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) I wouldn't say it was "amazing." IIRC, the buildings were ~ 100 feet taller than the Empire State Building (not a big deal), but were overshadowded by the Sears Tower a year later. They were also bland and looked very similar to the Amoco Building (now called the Aon Center) in Chicago, which was completed the same year. I'm not sure which design I would rather see built: A recreation of the original ugly twin towers or a the previously-selected avant garde Euro-eyesore. If it were up to me, I'd build a 1,700-foot (e.g., world's tallest) tower, similar in design to 900 N. Michigan in Chicago, but that's probably not going to happen. Amoco and Sears Tower were very different buildings structurally. The openness of the inside of the WTC was what made it so special.
