  1. I also like Bonds. I hope he gets better.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Can anyone who watches Arrested Development tell me, what is the name of Gob's theme song. It bothers the hell out of me that I can't figure this out. They play the song everytime he does magic and they played it when they showed his photo at the end of Sunday's episode. Europe - "The Final Countdown"
  3. And her husband. And her parents. Who have unlimited access.
  4. That always happens... I just turned down a job to get back into radio, because I knew the change was too much. I just got settled here, why would I wanna pick up and move to Louisiana for less money to start completely over... for the third time in two years? Try to sit back if you can and relax a bit. Test your waters, find out who your friends are around the office and then grow into it. The best part about work is that, there's 16 hours a day that doesn't involve it.
  5. Change is never easy, even when its for the best. I'm in a situation where most major things in my life are in flux at the moment - car, apartment, job. Although it all seems to be for the better, the amount of stress and worry it creates definitely has a depressing effect. Just do your damn best to stay positive and hopefully things will make themselves better. What's stressing you out about the new spot at work? Bad situation?
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) I am completely neutral on this issue. I'm just sick of hearing about it constantly. Me too, pretty much. I'm just concerned that state's rights are being thrown off the reservation for one single case. Especially when it's only to gain political points with a single issue voting group.

  8. If this was about a marriage ending, why would he fight for her right to die for seven years? He could have just walked away. Period.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) IIRC the College of Cardinals would meet and vote for his successor. It is a very secretive process, in which there are no public canditates, and no one states their interest in the position. Rumors a while ago that they want to appoint a Latino or African Pope to try to reach out to more non-Euro people. I don't know if that is still relevant or not. There have been lots of rumours swirling about. NPR does a story on it every few years or so. Nothing stated, but there's always whispers.
  10. There's been talk for some time. Chances are that the papacy will be passed down to someone with a less conservative bent, PJPII sent the pendulum pretty far one way, a little give and take is natural.
  11. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Reminder of where to get the DETAILED FACTS on the Schiavo case. Summary of political lines of thought on this matter: social liberals - support Michael's right to kill & cremate his wife over regardless of his being engaged to another woman & fathering two of her children social conservatives - the right to life trumps the right to die in nearly all circumstances social moderates - Call into question whether Michael should have remained Terri's guardian when he became formally engaged to another woman. He could not legally marry her w/out divorcing his wife & it would seem the $ he was awarded outside of Terri's medical care costs was the driving factor in not divorcing Terri at the time. Well, the social conservatives that you are trumpeting so loudly that signed this bill into law also signed a bill into law in Texas allowing the hospital to make that life or death decision over the wishes of the family in 1999. Social Moderates would see both sides to the issue I think. They would probably feel, like anyone else who isn't blinded by ideology in this issue, conflicted. They've seen video of Terri Schiavo and felt moved. They've read about the doctor after doctor that issued the same diagnosis. They've seen the CAT scan showing mostly fluid where her brain should be. Maybe they side with the parents, maybe they side with the husband. But social moderates ought to be disgusted with the way that the politicians involved wrapped themselves up in this issue to exploit political purpose. And Social Moderates ought to respect the rule of law.
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Steff, that link has dead links when it comes to the actual divorce law in the states. A 2 line addendum concentrating on whether a state has no fault divorce or not does not suffice as evidence to the contrary. SS, let me see if I got this straight. I am suppose to consider an article from the UK that doesn't even know many decisions were rendered as the gospel truth on the matter? That might seem logical to you but it doesn't to me. I will look up the details of the decisions myself. I'm sure to find at least one judge declaring she goes back on the tube because otherwise she wouldn't be alive today. The only time a court order to place Terri back on a PEG tube was issued was contingent on an appellate process. Look it up. Or just read the Federal judge's opinion issued today where he says the same damn thing.
  13. I honestly think French people love to strike. There's always one going on somewhere, and they're usually good fun to watch. As long as you don't mind not getting your mail, taking the train, the subway, the bus, or needing to travel in general.
  14. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) So the Cubs are saying that Borowski broke his hand eh? That means that Joe now no longer has a right hand. Maybe someone can give him the number of a good hook maker. With all that weight he lost he can now reach his goal of playing Captain Hook in Peter Pan at the Second City. Congrats Joe! I just flashed to Arrested Development with Buster and the robovac. Well, what do you expect Mother, I'm HALF MACHINE!!!! I'M A MONSTER!!!

    Hawk

You ever hear harry call a white sox winner? Crazy stuff that was. I can't say that I like Rooney/Farmer. Kinda whiny and a lot of dead air. Dead air may work for TV, but the crowd mic for ESPN 1000 isn't usually that strong, and that makes dead air, dead air.
  16. Glad you reposted it. After the ninth page of a broken foot, I'd moved on. Speaking of which - it's still 4-6 weeks, right?
  17. I wonder if I limit the amount of visitors to my apartment every year, if I get a rent reduction.... that'd be awesome!
  18. There have been 20 judges that have reviewed this case. Not a single judge has ordered the reinsertion of the PEG tube for any other reason than to allow appeal. Every single court decision has agreed with the findings of the original judge involved, including the appellate courts of Florida and the Supreme Courts of Florida and the United States. 20-0 is not a plurality. It's unanimity.
  19. Coho lips and Garry oughta reunite by retiring. Neither of them seem to have anything resembling entertainment left to contribute.

  21. Read it again. It's not that they like the guy. It's that they don't wanna pick a battle over this guy. All they said was "he is a serious candidate." That's a resounding endorsement if I do say so myself.
  22. So first it was about the money. Then he abused her. Then he denied her care. Now he sleeps around on her. Is it me, or is every stop being pulled out to demonize this guy? And should someone have to live a life of paralysis indefinitely because his wife is brain dead? He waited 8 years before he asked to have the feeding tube removed. Eight years is a long enough time to establish whether or not there is hope. Seven levels of judicial review have now agreed with Michael Schiavo that her wishes should be honored. The parents don't.

    Hawk

The great thing about Hawk is that he could give two s***s about the other team doing something great offensively, especially if its a blowout of the game. He's telling a story and barely notices if someone hits a two run shot. That makes me laugh.
