June 22 Promotion -- Nothing but Nancy
Rex Kickass replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Damn right he's smart. The thing that makes him so smart is that he actually listens to Sox fans. What a concept! I believe LCR was right about him making that comment about Nancy last year, and I also believe some Sox fans have straightened out his thinking in that regard. All us liberals look alike, eh? -

The reason I'm freakin out about it is because Brooks made some noise about "not needing" an organist last year. I think I read it in the Cubune. -

Big props to Frank for being eager to testify. Finally, a player who says "test me anytime" and means it.

June 22 Promotion -- Nothing but Nancy

Is this Nancy's last hurrah? Or are they going to extend her contract? To me its more important to lock her down long term than anyone else. -
I hate that show. How many cohosts have they already gone through and the show is like 8 months old?

I think there oughta be an investigation - and if the ignorance defense is true, the dozen other congresspeople oughta get some sort of censure.... But DeLay is facing his fourth ethics violation within a 12 month time span. That's just ridiculous. And he's under investigation for a possible felony indictment too.

I can only name two. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

I've been thinking about registering for the NBA draft. Just cause.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) When stuff like this happens, the DEM and GOP labels should be tossed out the window and let them face the music. Partisan politics being what it is, some peole feel compelled to defend "their" guy. I agree.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) While that is truly the point, no amout of explaining will get that thru the heads of the resident liberals here. It doesn't matter what kind of person they are, or how hard they work or how amazing they are, THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY. If they're here illegally, deport em. But the people who exploit migrant workers (many of whom are here legally by the way) oughta be kept in the same conditions they place their workers.

I got hit by a car while stopped in a turn lane waiting for the light to change on my bicycle in Lawrence Kansas. Her bumper finally came to a stop two inches from my ass. She yelled at me about how she scared me and then drove off, not even offering me a ride home. I was so stunned, I forgot to get her license plate number.

You can also use it to get some discounts on some things. Psi Chi gets a break on Geico insurance for one.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Uh, yeah, Saddam was giving the Oil For Food money to the malnurished children. He has a real soft spot for the poor and oppressed. :rolly In fact, that's why he kept kicking out the UN inspectors. He didn't want them to expose him as a "softie" and ruin his "dictator cred." During the course of OFFP, the average daily intake of calories by Iraqis increased 83%, from about 1200 a day to about 2200 a day. Malnutrition rates dropped from 11% to 4% during the course of the program. Since the end of OFFP, the malnutrition rate has begun to increase again, rated at just under 8% in November of last year. Of course, don't take my word for it... you can always just read the data yourself.. Oh, you're also incorrect about weapons inspectors being kicked out. Saddam Hussein never kicked out the UN inspectors. In 1998, UNSCOM left Iraq at the behest of a United States request to the Security Council.

I don't think anyone's defense is all that excusable, but why is DeLay trying to cover this up and lying about getting approval beforehand? Maybe its because he's the only Congressman who has a history of ethics violations and may be staring at a felony indictment because of illegal political fundraising activity. He's the majority leader of the GOP and wields a lot of power and apparently shows little to no respect for the rules of his own institution. It didn't fly for Rostenkowski and it shouldn't fly for DeLay. The GOP and America deserves better.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) DeLay has a huge target on his back after the mid decade redistricting strategy he pushed through. I feel bad for the big guy. However, I don't think the press will be able to bring down a tower of a Texan. I'll bet they are just making this stuff up. Are you filling in for Nuke while he's on maneuvers?

Wasn't there a controversy around the serving of dog at the World Cup? Not stirring the pot, just asking.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) That's right. The Oil For Food Program and the weapons inspections were incredibly effective. Apparently they were. How many WMD were there when we invaded? Oh yeah, that's right - none. Child malnutrition rates were halved as a result of oil-for-food. But that's cool dude, don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

That was the Cubs M.O. last year. Great glass arms on the mound. Powerful juiced offense.

That's overall or just for a visiting Quarterback? Cause he never plays there more than twice a year... Damn

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Why is it that everyone I know from Michigan has a cache of guns and knives in their home? Is it something in the water? If you live in Detroit, Flint or Benton Harbor, you need it.

Apparently a handful of Congressmen accepted trips to Korea, on behalf of a foreign agent. Three of them Dems, including Pelosi. This is, apparently, a violation of House Ethics rules. All of those who took the trips are pleading ignorance at the time that they accepted the trip. Here's the story. So DeLay seems to be caught in a lie here, everyone is admitting to taking the trips - out of ignorance - but DeLay's camp is saying that they got approval beforehand, even though they apparently didn't. This would be the House Majority Leader's fourth ethics violation within a twelve month time span. With Ethics violations, how many strikes until you're out - of the leadership at least? Apparently, there is no limit.
