    Wedding Bliss

Stories like that make me wish I was still doing morning radio.
  2. Lee was one of my favorite players in the last few years. Caballo looked like he enjoyed himself out there and played hard quite a bit. I didn't notice that this year. I did often wonder why Lee wasn't in on the action in a lot of plays in his territory. I did often wonder why he was aiming for the Home Run when the base hit would do. What I don't get about this thread, is why is it OK for columnists to bash the trade, but when you write a story hailing the trade - and claiming - with some evidence to back it up - that it was more than just about speed and production, it's a hatchet job.
  3. I don't think that's the point. Judges aren't normal citizens. They are public figures who represent the law in daily life. Taking the responsibility of that, means you have to act responsibly in your personal life as well. He didn't do that. Think of it as a morals clause with the public trust.
  4. I use Usenet archives. All sorts of crap there and with the right provider, no way of tracking what you downloaded.
  5. That anomaly I believe would be reality. I don't think this system ever passed an unrigged test if my memory serves me correctly.

  7. BEA ARTHUR! Sorry, I've just had an urge to shout the name lately.
  8. I thought the weak dollar meant that trade deficits would go down?
  9. FWIW, this was not the first time that soldiers have brought this issue up before Rumsfeld. It happened May 13, 2004 too. http://www.defenselink.mil/transcripts/200...secdef0747.html
  10. But can she swing a bat! Total DH material here. In the offseason, she can double as a gargoyle to keep the pigeons off the roof. Its a match made in heaven
  11. You know what is funny? People still are talking about that Jon Benet thing too. That same weekend a baby was found left for dead in Chicago, raped and gang symbols carved into her... and nobody cared. When I found that out, these "vanity cases" lost all meaning to me.

    Ewwww

    I still repeat. Ewww.
  13. I thought Ozzieball was less about power and more about contact, and aggressive baserunning. If we're getting speed over power in this case, I'm giving Oz the benefit of the doubt. He's sculpting his team here. We gotta give him this chance before we go and burn KW in effigy. It frees up a lot of salary which I hope will be used for a big FA signing. My spidey senses tell me that another, very good, shoe is gonna drop.
  14. Wow. A Neubauten fan. And one who actually listens to the noisemusic? Or do you just buy the CDs and say how much you love them. I own ONE Neubauten album. It's enough. Although I do love 1/2 Mensch. What exactly is Magyar Posse sounding like?

  16. The Hives would make my list even though I can never seem to gut check and buy their CDs. They're Swedish, aren't they? I like the Swedes. I actually think if there was a "coolest" profession to be, Swedish rock star would be it. Ya know, hangin at IKEA with the Swedish bikini team, pounding Meatballs and lingonberries - your own personal Swedish chef. Candy that looks like fish. That would be sweeet.
  17. How could this sound gay? Unless you're taking her out to a Streisand concert, it sound pretty straight to me. :rolly *sigh* Breeders.
  18. Joe Lieberman is a real possibility because it would take away a DEM seat in the Senate. The governor of CT is GOP and would appoint the acting senator until the 2006 election.
  19. That Dick Clark can't be there? Or that Regis will be?

    Ewwww

In Massachussets and Kansas, a girl can get married with parental consent at 12. In the more civilized state of Texas, a person can't get married til the ripe old age of 14. Saw this today and got a little grossed out.

    Nanny-gate

I think it's going to come out that this has less to do with a Nanny and more to do with a million dollar kickback scheme from Big Tobacco when he was running New York prisons, or maybe his mob connections, his interests with the Saudi Royal Family, the fact that there's missing money under his watch from training Iraqi police, the fact that he abandoned his first kid and there were a ton of sex scandals surrounding him. He may be a tough guy. Just not a very good one.
  22. So I was wondering: What were your favorite albums of 2004? Here are my favorites: Phoenix - Alphabetical: Great uplifting, positive album. A band that stays under the radar because it doesn't quite fit the mold of radio airplay, yet finds itself in movie soundtrack after movie soundtrack. Reminiscent of underground 90s band Self. Great poppy licks and fun! Cool synth too. Brian Wilson - Smile: So this has been the holy grail of rock for 35+ years. Its nice to hear the official completed version of what was supposed to be the Beach Boys masterwork. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't remastered and remixed original recordings - but the music is so well done - it took me 10 minutes to figure it out. Oh yeah, this was recorded in Mono too, but you'd never know. Bjork - Medulla: Bjork always makes my list, cause I got a thing for her. But this time I mean it. This album is all acoustic and features Rahzel prominently. Some tracks are filler material but songs like Where is the Line? and the Beach-Boys esque Submarine just get me "right there." Kanye West - College Dropout: Hip Hop needed a new it guy. P. Diddy was getting stale, and the best part about Kanye is that he actually has talent. Rasmus - Dead Letter: Picture Swedish rock that has the best of Bon Jovi's bigness but without all the crap that sucks about that pussy band. It's like emo-arena rock, but good. Other songs I dug but whose albums didn't warrant a mention: Prince - Musicology The Killers - Somebody Told Me Snoop Dogg - Drop It Like Its Hot N.E.R.D. - She Wants to Move Macy Gray - When I See You U2 - Vertigo William Shatner - Common People Twista - Slow Jams
