On our other Board, Blacksox said Whisler has agreed to terms, just waiting until school is out, now it adds up.

In Tribune article about FT sitting out I found this blurb. The Sox have signed 12 of their top 14 picks, with one playing in the College World Series and the other finishing up high school. Does not jive, 10 of top 11, 16 0f top 20 (16 rounds). If Ricks is signed just waiting to finish college WS, that is still 17 of 20, and 11 of top 14. So either Lemon/McCarthy/Whisler has signed as well.

2 games, try not to get expectation too high. Also, some have gathered we are giving up on Nanita, I am sure that is not true, he just needed to go down and get hot and get some confidence going.
-
Some years you need to sign more than others, our teams in minors are fairly weak this year, we traded off depth and have had a load of arm injuries to pitchers, so we need to stock up in the draft. Last year was the opposite, we seemed quite comfortable with how we were stocked up and took some stretches taking kids assumed undraftable (and many were) and we ended up not signing as many. It runs in cycles. We have quite a few guys in Birm and Win-Salem who are either 1 year players (guys we brought in to make Birm respectable, but not real prospects) or releasable (Win-Salem pitching staff has at least 6 pitchers we could cut and not look back)

Appears Bakker is too, besides Russell.
-
Reed and Borchard 2 hits apiece, Borchard with a solo shot, Valenzuela with 2 homers to pace Josh Stewart to a win. Nice relief again for Pacheco, he has had several decent relief outings in a row now. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform...px?GAMEID=13909

Nothing wrong with those stats with the schedule Stanford plays.

He imploded, was not holding guys on, he still has stuff, but he cannot do anything with it, he will never be crap for us anymore, release him. Leskanic can pitch in setup role, Koch will not.
-
Release Koch outright, pick up Leskanic, we would be a better team for it, Koch has lost his confidence, he imploded big time in Seattle, cannot imagine him getting it back.
-
Whisler, Russell, Lemon, McCarthy and Ricks. All college kids.

and he missed some of his first season with Sox rookie team too if I recall correctly.

Great start for Munoz, nice relief, and good hitting for Spidale, Morse and Bikowski. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=16135

(Hickory, NC) – Kannapolis (30-33) completed their second series sweep of the season clipping the Crawdads 4-3 Monday night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory. Micah Schnurstein’s lead off homer off Crawdads starter Josh Shortslef in the fourth inning broke the scoreless tie. David Cook was hit by Shortslef in the same inning and scored on Chris Young’s double. Intimidators starter Rafael Flores (4-4) was impressive in his ninth start of the season and first vs. Hickory. The right-hander surrendered two runs on four hits in seven innings pitched with eight strikeouts for his fourth win.. After retiring the first ten batters, Flores surrendered a base hit to Craig Stensberry in the fourth inning. Stansberry tied the game with a two-run shot in the sixth off Flores. Chris Young delivered in the clutch breaking the logjam with a two run double off Hickory reliever Yoann Torrealba scoring Leo Daigle and Micah Schnurstein in the eighth inning. Torrealba was saddled with the loss. In the bottom half, Hickory (35-29) pulled within a run, 4-3, on a Jon Benick Single with two outs scoring Bobby Kingsbury. Fernando Hernandez (1) notched his first Intimidators save shutting down the Shellfish 1-2-3 in the ninth inning to end the game. The Intimidators have won four straight games for just the second time all season. They accomplished the feat May 10-13 against the Greensboro Bats.

Get serious, no one is going to take Burke in a trade, they could have had him for free in past couple of years.

Sunday game KANNAPOLIS OUTLASTS HICKORY 5-4 TEAM HAS NOW WON THREE STRAIGHT (Hickory, NC) – The Intimidators went ahead in the sixth inning and held on for their third consecutive win outlasting the Crawdads 5-4 Sunday night in Hickory. Ehren Wassermann came into the game in the ninth inning following an Adam Boeve two-run blast cutting the lead, 5-4. The closer earned his third straight save and second against the Crawdads for his 13th save of the season. The visiting Intimidators took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI double from Micah Schnurstein scoring Leo Daigle to make it 3-2. The Intimidators added to lead in the eighth inning on David Cook’s two RBI double. Kannapolis starter Brian Miller (5-6) snapped a four game losing streak allowing a pair of runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Miller walked two, while striking out two earning his first win since May 17th. Matt Capps (2-3) took the loss for Hickory. Capps went three innings allowing three runs on six hits.

no boxes, but some text about their game, this is Saturday night game INTIMIDATORS TAKE TIGHT ONE IN HICKORY (Hickory, NC) – The Intimidators clipped the Crawdads 2-1 behind a solid outing by starter Ryan Rodriguez and Brandon Bounds’ two run homer leading Kannapolis (28-33) to their second consecutive win. The Crawdads took the lead, 1-0, in the third inning. Sean Smith, who led off the inning with a triple off Rodriguez, scored on a single by Milver Reyes. Rodriguez (5-4) kept the Crawdads scoreless and left the game with four strikeouts in five and two third innings earning the win. For the second consecutive night, the Intimidators bullpen held on to the lead. Adam Larson entered the game in the sixth inning with two outs and a man on second. He popped up Mike Collum to end the inning. Larson added two more scoreless innings in relief. Seth Morris and Robert Valido combined to preserve the win with a tremendous defensive play in the eighth. Craig Stansberry hit a ball off the right field wall. Morris played it perfectly off the wall and threw to Valido at second tagging Stansberry off the bag for the second out. Crawdads manager Dave Clark came out to argue that the ball was actually hit over the wall for a home run but the play stood as originally called. In the ninth inning, Ehren Wasserman (12) retired three out of four batters faced to notch his team-high 12th save. Wasserman has a save in each of the last two Kannapolis wins.

2004 Draft Finishes w/Position & School Breakdown
MnSoxFan replied to danman31's topic in FutureSox Board
KWs kid is going to play college ball at Arizona, if that is correct he has to be pretty dog gone good. If KW knew he was not going to sign, not sure why he did not wait until 50th round to take him. -
Gonna have to quit doing this, they are sucking really bad of late. Miller and Fabio with iffy games, especially Miller, and Chris Young with good offensive game, Kanny loses 7-4, they are really slumping it seems. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=12092 An and Espinol with nice games, but Castro loses in 9th, 2-1. AGon and Anderson with good games. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...px?GAMEID=15578 Kohlmeier and Wylie pounded, Charlotte loses 8-2. http://milb.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnfor...spx?GAMEID=9363 Barons lose 4-3 allowing 3 in bottom of 9th.

18th rated player in Ga, • RHP Josh Fields, who has thrown out a seven-figure price tag and but is only 6-foot, 165-pounds, is headed to Georgia. Fields, once a bat boy for the Bulldogs, reminds some scouts of Bo Lanier because he shows a quick arm, low 90s velocity and has a good curveball, but he's made it clear he wants to go to school.
-
There is another Josh Fields in Georgia, a HS player, projected high but committed to college so not likely to be taken high in draft.

Lot of JC kids, see how they progress and grab up as D&F for next year. I see our top D&F from last year, Van Pope, went 5th round to the Braves.
