Great post.
I still believe in a lot of guys on this team. The old guys and Eloy, not so much.
I think Robert will figure it out eventually this year.
I think Abreu/Grandal/Pollock are just old and declining
Idk what to think about Burger and Sheets. Complete wild cards
Leury and Harrison suck. Get Yolbert up here. Play Harrison for the D in the meantime.
I think Moncada will be fine, but I'm a bit concerned about how bad he was in the spring.
Eloy will be Jorge Soler if he figures out how to elevate.
Given the limited control that the players have, I think this is more of a complete rebuild than a retool.
Obviously Vaughn and Robert will be here for a while, but beyond them, Everyone only has 3 or fewer years left.
What did the Twins get for Berrios? I forgot. Let me look it up.
https://www.mlb.com/news/jose-berrios-trade#:~:text=TORONTO -- The Blue Jays,4 prospect Simeon Woods Richardson.
That's not a bad return, but they were able to re-sign Berrios. Idk if the Sox would get that type of return without an extension agreement.
Honestly for Robert I think Javy Baez might be the best comp for him.
I don't see him ever walking enough to be Mike Cameron.
Eloy and Robert are basically the same guy at the plate, except Robert is a freak athlete.
Yeah, but hitting all of his potential isn't realistic, as we've seen with Moncada. I'm grounding myself in reality. I'll be pleasantly surprised if any of the Sox players come anywhere close to their ceilings.
So I guess the team was just overrated and overhyped. They all truly suck.
I could totally see Moncada coming back and sucking too.
2019-20 was a mirage that lulled Sox fans into a false sense of security.
The team from July 2021 to present is the real Sox.
A retooling is needed at this point. With Cease being a Boras guy I think you move on from him now, try to get some big time prospects.
I honestly don't know what to think about Luis Robert but I think that if everything works out he's a Mike Cameron type.
I didn't think they would be this bad. I just thought that the rest of the team was going to be better. I saw them in the 85-89 win range, and I thought that another ALC team would take steps forward to nip them.
I did warn everyone about the offense though.
