  1. Hint to autocorrect.......it's never duck.
  2. The issue that I have with drafts is that players do not have the choice on where to sign. I'm fine with limiting spending on amateur players, as a competitive balance tool, but the draft pool has to be bigger dollar wise than what it is.
  3. I think we might be a few days away from a deal but the framework is here, IMO.
  4. Boom goes the dynamite. Dayn Perry FTW.
  5. There has to be some type of petty bullshit in there, right?
  6. It's just not worth arguing anymore. People are going to believe what they want to believe. I'll make a comment and just leave it at that.
  7. What baseball really needs is 30 owners willing to spend like Steve Cohen , but I digress.
  8. Don't forget about the Dodgers. Before Cohen they were outspending everyone, by a lot.
  9. I'm sure there are weirdos in Chicago that like baseball but watch whichever team is good at the moment. But if both teams are good or both are bad you'd bet your ass they're picking the Cubs first.
  10. Sox will be considered a large market team. That's all that matters. JR should be fighting that because the Cubs have at least 60% of the Chicago baseball market, and that's probably conservative. I did some math on twitter follows and there was about a 70/30 split. I really don't know where else to get data but that's about right IMO.
  11. This seems like a good offer but I think MLB is low on the pre-arb pool. Other than that, I think this has the potential to get done. If they could meet in the middle on the pre-arb pool I think we might have something.
  12. If they make the big tier the only one that loses draft picks for multiple overages I think it's doable.
  13. It's a salary cap. Of course they're going to reject it. If the MLBPA rejects this though, I could see the owners going scorched earth and asking for a hard cap. I've always been of the opinion that the MLBPA only cares about the stars and doesn't realize what a cap and floor would do for their average players. I'm miffed about how the MLBPA doesn't fight for the average vet.
  14. It probably would be. MLBPA will view it as a salary cap(as they should) and will consider it a non-starter.
  15. the NHL and NFL are doing this too. It's just a matter of time before it becomes commonplace throughout all sports. I thought I saw that TNF will be an Amazon Prime exclusive going forward and every team plays one Thursday game.
  16. If they reach a deal this week you guys can thank me for declaring the 2022 season canceled in a 2AM doompost yesterday morning..... Hopefully the reverse jinx works like a charm. I declared baseball over for 3 years and it didn't happen. just FYI I'm poking fun at myself.
  17. Caveat-unless it's Sox related. Bob is Jerry's BFF in the media. Dammit-they killed the fake Bob known as @boobnightengale
  18. OBJ is re-signing with LA. Legit forgot about JuJu but added Kirk in an edit. DK Metcalf is reportedly available via trade but the Bears can't afford that.
  19. Mike Williams re-signed with the Chargers. Adams and Godwin Franchised. Gallup looks like he's going to return to Dallas if they're releasing Amari Cooper, and with the market the way it is they might not have to release him anymore. A trade may be possible. Cooper, Kirk and Chark may be the top WRs on the market, which sucks.
  20. I actually found the stat: They're now 2-15 against teams with a .600 win % or better. They really miss Ball and Caruso but idk how much of a difference those guys will make.
