They're not going to give away guaranteed money.

You think Moncada can turn it around or is he toast? Abreu is an older slugger and sometimes those guys just lose it for no apparent reason.
-
Hopefully soon. Better sell high before the suck infects everyone. (Sarcasm intended)
-
The way these guys are looking, they're going to struggle to score runs all season. Abreu, Grandal and Moncada might be toast.

Sox resign Rodon 1 yr /3m official, Vargas DFA
Jack Parkman replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. He totally was a #2 from 2014-16, but he started to drop off in 2017 and Hahn was able to move him just in time, and did a nice sales job about the decline. IIRC Quintana had a 4.42 ERA when he was traded but was having a career year in strikeouts. -

It seems Quintana was just on a 3 year hot streak with the Sox and he got figured out in the NL. Glad Hahn was able to sell high. -
Show, NHL, Madden, and PGA golf are the only games that I even play. I don't like spending $400+ on a console for those. Would be nice if they were released on PC one day.

Happy for Rodon. Been through a lot as a player. Fuck Perez for not getting out of the way.
-
A little late, but Moncada is topping everything.

Did Robert just dog it to 1B?

Sword of the year candidate on Pitching Ninja.

His stuff declined considerably when he was dealing with his injuries. At times he was down to 91. I'm beyond shocked he still has 97-98 in him after a shoulder surgery and Tommy John.

C'mon Yoan.....

Like really.....Moncada has been one of my favorite prospects/players since he got acquired by the Sox. I'm not going to lie and tell people he's been good this year, in fact, he's been bad. Pointing out that fact doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed. There are a lot of fans that are constantly pessimistic about the Sox because the Sox FO has done nothing to convince anyone that they know the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground. They can start by putting together a team that reaches the postseason in consecutive 162 game seasons for the first time in franchise history. That would go a long way. We're all here because we want the Sox to win. Unfortunately, none of us are billionaires or relatives of Jerry Reinsdorf. Bitching about the team is our way of coping with the fact that we have no control over the product on the field.

The Sox have earned the skepticism from their fanbase. Trust in the front office and scouting is earned. They have not earned our trust. Blind optimism is just as annoying, if not more so, as eternal pessimism.

Lots of players hit .340 for 34 games. Stop acting like it's some kind of accomplishment. It was a hot streak, nothing more.
-
WTF is Tony doing? They're not paying Grandal $73M to ride pine.

I hate to break it to everyone, but a lot of the younger players on this team do not have a track record of success. Moncada only did it for one season, TA only did it for 200 games, Robert was only good for a month.......it is possible that those were just hot streaks. Also, both Abreu and Keuchel were declining before their 2020 60 game resurgences. Liam Hendriks is a 32 year old relief pitcher with a short track record of success. What if the 2019-20 positive developments were fool's gold? So far it seems the only positive development from those years that has stuck is Giolito, and his fastball is down 0.6 mph on average from last year, so he could end up getting hit in the summer months.

White Sox running almost exactly MLB average payroll

Yeah, if the Sox win fewer than 81 games this year, then they should trade TA and Gio this winter. -

The Bears won the SB in 85 but that doesn't mean that their ownership isn't trash. Also, Bill Wirtz had some very good Hawks teams in the 80s and early 90s. They happened to run into a generational duo in their prime in Lemieux and Jagr. They had the best record in hockey in 1991 and were runners up in 1992. They ran into Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. Can't do much about that. -

He's not, but that poster isn't wrong. The 2005 Sox=1985 Bears. A lone bright spot surrounded by 40 years of crap and underachievment. -
I agree with both of you.

You also always thought Abreu sucked so you're not the best judge of talent. ? -

It's too early to say for sure. Time will tell. If Yermin sticks I'll totally give you props. -

Of course, didn’t you read the last part? Tony and Rick get to keep their jobs while they dump the FA contracts and Giolito. Anyway, I'm just frustrated tonight and need to vent to fellow Sox fans. Playing the Randy Quaid role from ML2. Disclaimer: take nothing I posted tonight seriously and treat it all as schtick.
