  1. Yup......but I worry Jerry would rather exchange talent for taking on fewer dollars. Penny wise but dollar foolish. If they were ok with Wheeler at 5/125 last winter, why wouldn't they be ok with him at 4/95 this winter?
  2. Sure.....but I'm ok with that because he's got 4 years of control.
  3. When I think of both of those guys I can't help but think of Spencer Adams.
  4. Sounds like an some other organization that had a shitty farm for a while.
  5. Thompson I'd rather trade Dalquist than either.
  6. Trading Places pawn shop scene. "In Philadelphia it's worth $50"
  7. Then Daniels can lose him for nothing, or take advantage of some other sucker. In Chicago, Lynn is worth Stiever and Sheets/Lambert. (kudos if you get the reference)
  8. Daniels can go pound sand then. If they're not OK with Stiever and Lambert/Sheets, then he can hold Lynn and lose him for nothing. There's no deal to be made at those prices.
  9. If that's the case, then I'd pass on Lynn.
  10. They need to go to cash strapped clubs and leverage salary relief in exchange for not giving up top guys. I'd be fine giving up Dunning or Cease for a guy like Darvish or Wheeler where they're controlled for 3 or 4 years respectively. Where I draw the line is at the big 4(Vaughn, Kopech, Crochet and Kelley) for those guys, or even someone like Marquez. I'm not opposed to trading players like Cease, Madrigal, Dunning and Stiever, but I am opposed to trading the first three for a player controlled for fewer than 3 years. The huge thing is that the Sox have to have the pitching depth built up so that they can afford to not lose Giolito for nothing.
  11. I think they might be able to get Wheeler for pretty cheap if the Phillies are desperate to cut payroll. Speaking of long-term RF, LHB solution I think Colas to the Sox is as good as done. I mean, his agent was wearing a White Sox shirt while dining with Colas and Moncada. I think Moncada and Colas share an agent. I'm for the Pederson/Engel platoon in RF.
  12. Honestly it would have been nice if they landed both Wheeler and Keuchel last winter. I think we'd all feel better with Wheeler/Keuchel/McCann than Grandal/Keuchel Who Knows? The Phillies are having some money issues(or so they claim) and the Sox might be able to grab Wheeler via trade for pennies on the dollar.
  13. Yeah, I don't want to re-sign Lynn if it costs 3/55.
  14. He'd be a fool to re-sign period.....he should go to the open market and maximize his value. You ok re-signing a 35 year old pitcher for the same guaranteed money that Keuchel got? That's what I think it would take. I'd pass there.
  15. Who's to say he wouldn't want to test the market after taking a cheap deal in which he produced surplus value this time around. Lynn will be 35 next winter and it will likely be his last big contract. He'd be a fool to re-sign.
  16. We'd have crucified Hahn for trading that package to Cleveland and then Clevinger being unavailable for 2021 due to TJS and on an innings limited in 2022, his walk year.
  17. Which defeats the purpose of locking the position players up.
  18. Ding ding ding...why give up anything of value if you can sign him for just money next winter? It's time for the Sox to act like a team interested in winning a championship payroll wise. This is a different era. You cannot win being cheap. You might make a world series appearance but you won't win.
  19. If they're not willing to carry a 150-160M payroll then keeping their players isn't only necessary, it's required. Also, if they're not willing to carry a 140M payroll this year, then they're not interested in winning a championship in 2021, so also keep the prospects.
  20. Those guys aren't Vaughn/Kopech and Crochet. Those guys are fine to give away for a starter with 3+ years of control that has TOR potential.
  21. Because he's not a bonafide TOR starter.
  22. That's even more of a reason to hold on to the prospects. It shouldn't be that expensive to sign a pitcher like Tanaka or the Japanese imports and fix RF with a Pederson/Engel platoon. If they don't want to bring up Vaughn now, they can sign Brantley to split LF/DH with Eloy.
  23. What the fuck are you talking about? They only have 3 holes on the entire team: RF, a #2/3 SP and DH. They have internal options for the 2nd two in Kopech/Cease and Vaughn. If they don't have enough money to fill 3 holes, then they're not winning championships anyway and we should just trade everyone and start over again.
