Offseason Targets
Yeah, I mean until there's fans in the stands Grandal territory is top dollar in years and money for Jerry. I don't think he's willing to go any longer than 4 years and any higher than 18-19M AAV on a single contract until things get back to normal revenue wise. The MLB owners are going to use the pandemic to lay the hammer down on the MLBPA and I do not expect a 2022 season at this point. The MLB owners and MLBPA are probably not anywhere close to the same planet. Each side thinks the other is on Uranus.

Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
Given how much his stuff has tailed off, I don't think he's been healthy since 2018. The loss of command and diminishing stuff scream shoulder issues, which finally popped up this year.- Offseason Targets
It's the White Sox Modus Operandi. Has been for 20 years. Leopards don't change their spots.- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
In 2018 Lopez was experimenting with both an 87-89 mph cutter that didn't break as much and an 82-85 mph slider with bigger break. He had much more success and fooled more batters with the cutter than the slider. For some reason, in 2019 they scrapped the cutter.- Offseason Targets
My opinion? If they actually land him it's going to be both Lynn and Gallo. And it's going to cost Cease+, and we're all going to puke when Lynn is not re-signed.- Offseason Targets
To me, that would mean that guys like Darvish, Wheeler and Harper are out of the question as well. I don't think he's willing to top Grandal's deal from last year.- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
Nope, he's sitting around 94 now and topping at 96 which is very different from topping at 99 and sitting around 96-97 which is what he was when he came up. Lopez is nowhere close to the same guy that was a top 40 prospect. It's crazy how Giolito and Lopez went in complete opposite directions in every way after 2018.- George Springer Thread
Tanaka is a ticking time bomb...you know that, right? He's been pitching with a partially torn UCL for 3 years. Eventually that thing is going to go. Out of all of the pitchers on the market, he's the most risky. Unless it's a team flush with cash I don't see him getting a lot of multi-year offers.- Offseason Targets
I thought he had his 1st year where he was above average?- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
Remember, Giolito had a 70 grade curve when he came up in 2017 and then in 2018 that disappeared along with Cooper teaching him a slider. It worked for him, but a curveball, if he could tunnel it with his high heater, would work even better as a breaking pitch. If Katz could get Giolito back to the curve he had in HS, then Gio could take the step forward from strong #2 to bonafide ace. I know exactly why Giolito's curve gets rocked right now and it's because it comes from a different release point than the other 3 pitches. It's fairly obvious when he throws it.- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
Fulmer was due to shit luck more than anything else. Sometimes, a college or HS pitcher's stuff backs up significantly going from starting once a week to every 5 days. Nobody knows who those guys are, and unfortunately for the Sox, Fulmer was one of those guys. It happens in every draft, to a few teams, even in the 1st round.- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
If Cooper stayed there was no doubt in my mind that Cease would have been Lopez part deux. Now there's hope.- Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
Yeah, Cease.- Offseason Targets
The number I saw was $134M- Offseason Targets
They're not going to get another TOR SP unless they let Kopech and Crochet develop. Those guys have special arms, just like Rodon, you let them play out, even if they don't work. There's enough of a likelihood to have a TOR of some combination of Giolito, Crochet and Kopech in 2023. You want to trade that? I'd understand if they traded Kopech as the centerpiece for Blake Snell, as long as Vaughn didn't go with him. I wouldn't be ok if they traded him for anyone else.- Offseason Targets
Yeah, I did. I would prefer they don't trade Vaughn but I could stomach it. I'd still be pissed, it would still be the wrong decision, but I wouldn't completely throw up in my mouth. Trading Vaughn is like 90% bad but there is the 10% of positional flexibility that occurs from not having 2 guys that play only 1st base on your team.- Offseason Targets
They're never going to shop at the top of the market until Jerry is no longer with us. that's just how it is. Someone like Tomoyuki Sugano would be a really good addition to be honest. He's older but ready to go now. I just don't how willing he is to come to Chicago.- Offseason Targets
I'm fine with them trading anyone but Kopech and Crochet. While I don't want to trade Vaughn, I could stomach it because of his positional inflexibility. (1B/DH only) Bucket said that Giolito has reached Buehrle status within the org so they're trying to keep him.- Offseason Targets
Harper would be awesome.....but I think Wheeler is more realistic because they were after him last year.- Offseason Targets
Bringing up Vaughn is a luxury, not a necessity. Bryant already proved that the CBA is the CBA.- Offseason Targets
If Vaughn is as good as we all think he is, and the lineup is already this good....why bring him up now?- Offseason Targets
Unless they feel like they can get away with keeping him in the minors and saving him for next year. If they could spend $5M and get an extra year of service from Vaughn, why wouldn't they?- Offseason Targets
I'd look at Schwarber for DH. Shouldn't be that expensive.- Offseason Targets
I'd like them to bring one more guy in on a flier/MiLB deal.......got any ideas? - Rodon and Mazara Non-Tendered
