Offseason Targets
Overall, I'm absolutely ecstatic about where the Sox are as an organization. There are two things I can complain about: 1. Ownership 2. The Sox tendency to trade guys away when Kenny was running things I'm cautiously optimistic that Moncada will be ok, but it would be a very White Sox thing for his career to be altered by Covid and would suck. My optimism is because he's my favorite position player on the Sox. If he comes back and is himself(likely, IMO) I'm investing in some gear. I've really liked Moncada and Giolito since before they were even in the Sox organization so there's some attachment there due to being incredibly excited that the Sox acquired them. Sustained success comes from great scouting and player development, keeping most of your team's best young players and using money to fill holes the majority of the time.

He absolutely did but I thought he'd never get there because of his swing and miss issues combined with lack of walks. Anderson is a lesson for all of us.

He has a lot of pressure from the MLBPA to get the best deal in this particular season, leading up to labor negotiations. Honestly, Jerry has no qualms paying his own players top dollar but he'd rather not do it for a player from another organization. I really hope bucket is right about Giolito reaching Buehrle status with the org.

Honestly I'm ok if they go with a solid back end guy like Quintana and a guy with untapped upside after injuries like Richards or Archer. Tanaka has a high amount of risk but he's clearly the 2nd best pitcher in this class, and should cost about the same as Keuchel in terms of years and dollars.

I couldn't stand Anderson before he became an elite average hitter. I thought his approach at the plate was awful. That being said, Anderson didn't play baseball until HS so his delay in development makes some sense. You can get away with being a free swinger if you hit everything like Anderson does now. I'm a bit concerned about Moncada going forward if he can't get the elite EV back after Covid because the skill of pulverizing baseballs is what allows him to overcome his ridiculous amount of whiffs. The biggest indicator of what type of player Moncada will be in 2021 is his EV. Look all season for trends of it going up.

Jose Bautista was a career minor leaguer pushing 30 when he changed his swing and became a monster power hitter. This is baseball, and you can figure it out at any time. It's harder to get a shot in the bigs as a player gets older, but if they get up as an injury replacement perform and stick it happens occasionally.

Probably not, which is even more of an argument for a 100 or 120 game season than the financial stuff....a lot of pitchers broke because they didn't have a full spring training for a 60 game season. They might have to build up for a couple seasons: 2021: 100 games 2022: 120-140 games 2023: Back to 162

I choose to be conservative about this stuff until proven otherwise. It would be really stupid to have fans until we've had enough vaccinations to reach herd immunity, unless you have to provide proof of vaccination or something, which given the state of the country I have no doubt it would go over well with the public.............lol. But even beyond that, it is possible that the MLB owners want to protect their pitchers and have a 100 game season to stretch guys for 2022. They can point to the rash of pitcher injuries in 2020 and argue that it's in the best interest of player safety.

2020 Election Thoughts
Yeah, and that's scary as fuck. Unlike Russia though, they can pretend they aren't the puppet master. Some of us know better. Others, not so much.

Dunning had zero in 2019 because he was shut down for TJS during Spring Training. I do not think that MLB will have fans until postseason play at the earliest, so I do not expect a full season in 2021. I think there will be 100 games maximum in 2021.

2020 Election Thoughts
In order to have a solution to our problems, we first must accept that the system is corrupt and broken. Right now, The US is a covert plutocratic kleptocracy. It's a plutocracy because the rich are allowed, by law, to buy politicians, and it's a covert kleptocracy because the politicians enrich themselves by continuing to serve the interests of the plutocrat class, and they do so in secret and pass laws to make it legal to do so. The Plutocrats give money to the politicians through covert, legal means in return for their votes on policy. Once the purchased politician is voted out of office, the politician then spends the remainder of their career as a lobbyist for the plutocrat class, working for one or all of their former owners. The US, while keeping the facade of democracy, is actually a Russia-lite. Russia is an overt plutocratic kleptocracy, where the US is a covert one.

Yes, this is the appropriate framing of that issue. I expected the government to put people over profits during a public health crisis. Shame on me.

They'd kidnap people and take them to jail if they left their home for any reason at all. In a civilized world, where people are rational everyone would use their brain and choose to stay home. Unfortunately, people either choose to be ignorant, pretend like it isn't happening or both.

I actually think that any FA other than Springer and Bauer are realistic. Obviously Realmuto isn't even worth discussing.
