  1. It's not about the money it's about other factors such as attractiveness of location. If the money is similar, I expect players to choose other locales.
  2. I agree with this, and that's why it's going to be hard for the Sox to land a top pitcher this winter. If JDM and Strasburg opt in, it's going to make improving this winter fairly difficult IMO. Just not a lot of strong options out there.
  3. Yes? I'd be ecstatic with either.
  4. They can use it as an innings excuse. He goes down there and starts once a week until May.
  5. Yeah, I that's how I interpreted it too. He's going to be in Charlotte until at least 6/1. Odorizzi would be an idiot to not take it. We should count on him being a Twin next year.
  6. If I were Odorizzi and the Twins offered me a QO I'd take it and bet on myself. If he doesn't take the QO he's out of a job until June.
  7. If he gets a QO then he's in the exact position that Keuchel was last year.
  8. If Jeff Samardzija got $90M, so will Odorizzi. Samardzija had an ERA of 5 with the Sox and still got that one year removed from his career year.
  9. No arguments there, but you never know.
  10. We're all off on our player valuations. Whatever you think it is, add 20-30%. Wheeler's getting in the $115-130 range, Odorizzi is getting $85-100, Strasburg in the $160-175 range and Cole in the $250+ range. Mo money, Mo years.
  11. That too. He's getting at least 5/100. That's why Cole scares me but then again, Scherzer is 5 years into a 7 year deal and still dealing when he pitches.
  12. This whole offseason revolves around JDM and Strasburg opting out and entering the market. There's going to be a TON of competition for very little quality without those two. If those guys opt in, the top of the hitting market is: Grandal Moustakas Abreu And the top of the pitching market is: Cole Wheeler Bumgarner Ryu I don't count Keuchel because I think that he's trash. With slim pickings after those 7.
  13. It's hard to see them hand out a $100M contract....ever. Going to try to stay optimistic though. If they have an offseason only slightly better than last year's we should be at 333 W. 35th St. with our torches and pitchforks.
  14. You and every other team looking for a pitcher. Wheeler is getting more money than most people think and the bidding might get out of the Sox comfort zone. If You are thinking this way, you think FOs aren't???
  15. What a pathetic performance. They look like an ECHL team playing team Canada tonight. There are no words.....
  16. Yep. Football is harder to rebuild than a baseball or hockey team. 53 players is a lot.
  17. Not doing it again. I haven't posted anything overtly ridiculous since I came back from hiatus. I'm not saying the Bears can't win a few more games, but I did say it's hard to see them winning.
  18. Tell me who in the hell on their schedule they're going to beat other than the Giants. Who? Even the Giants game is in question. They're clearly worse than everyone on their schedule other than NYG, and that's an even game.
  19. That's going to be hard to do. They might not win another game.
  20. Nagy and Pace need to be fired tomorrow. That is all.
  21. Mack has been invisible since Hicks got injured.
  22. The only thing historic about the Bears is the 70 years of failure at the QB position.
  23. I really liked Rogue one. Solo was underrated. If I had to rank the new movies in order of best to worst so far, it would be the following: 1. Rogue One 2. Solo 3. TFA 4. TLJ Just my opinion, but TFA and TLJ are worse than Revenge of the Sith at least, and arguably worse than The Phantom Menace.
