All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues

I'm excited for MLS starting up. Might not be as entertaining as the other leagues but I have zero emotional ties to those clubs so I don't really care who wins or loses. So anyone else into MLS? -
Miami really starting to peak right now. But just like about a dozen other teams, they can make a Final Four run or flame out in the first weekend. Should be an entertaining ride atleast.

Silva is more interested in clowning around. It as obvious he knew Bisping provided no danger and when Silva decided to turn it on, it was a mismatch. MMA and the UFC need to do two things: 1. Scrap the 10-9 scoring system. If that fight yesterday was 25 minutes without rounds then Silva wins easily. 2. Get rid of the saved by the bell stuff. Bisping was basically KOed. Needed help from his corner but he's able to fight 60 seconds later? Pretty much proves MMA isn't mainstream bc if that would've happened it any other major sport, the media and fans would be having a field day.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 10:44 PM) Did you miss the year Man City won on an extra time goal in the last match of the season? Maybe he wasn't following English soccer then lol -
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) I looked at the people on the birth certificate. There is no way on this Earth that those two people made a person that looks like Mr. King. his childhood pictures sure look like a person who could've came from two white people.

I don't know how anyone could still be a fan of a team that moved from your city if you are from or reside in that area. Why would you want to support a team that left your area? Maybe it's easier nowadays with how accessible games are to fans.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Meanwhile, investigation on a legit cheating scandal at North Carolina continues.... And it'll go away quietly. The ACC will protect one of their own from the NCAA.

Getting off turf may help Jennings out but I would guess any trade involving Jennings would also include a SP. One of Ordorizzi, Cobb or one of the lefties. Most likely Cobb or Ordorizzi though.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) Sure seems like Jennings will be dealt https://mobile.twitter.com/TBTimes_Rays/sta...897462260895745 I'll be surprised if Jennings isnt moved. Same with Loney although the Rays will probably have to eat some of that $8M. Possibly trying to free up some money to make a run at Ian Desmond?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) That crosscheck by Wideman was absolutely disgusting. He deserves to have the book thrown at him. EDIT: Saw before that play he got hit in the head.. might of gotten woozy and crosschecked the linesman last minute. Still hard to give him the benefit of the doubt at all though. problem is he didnt use the check as a defense. he said something like the ref was in his way and it was too late for him to skate around him so he ran into him. this wont end well for him.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Why not go for 2 there? Plenty of time to be chasing points

If youre going to go to a Florida school, it has to be to Gainesville. I havent been to Doak Campbell but I have not heard one person tell me it compares to Ben Hill as far as the game experience. Tailgating might be a toss up. Plus odds are you'll be seeing a better game in Gainesville. Plus maybe you get lucky and the schedules align and you can make it a weekend. Gators on the Saturday and the Bears at Bucs on the following day. If youre a Bears fan that is(I'm assuming given the site). But if I was going to a game without a rooting interest, LSU would be on the top of my list by a mile. Especially a night game. Ole Miss has a great rep and apparently the before/after game festivities are fun with a lot of talent to look at.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 17, 2016 -> 02:08 AM) Hard to hate Rodgers. It was a fun game. I think the NFC champ is coming out of today's game though. I'd like to see Arizona get to and win the Super Bowl(if they play NE, I'd like to see Peyton win 1 more and call it a career) but after seeing Carson Palmer struggle a good amount last night, I dont think the Cards can beat either of these NFC teams today unless a miracle happens to Palmer's hand/finger.

Football is the greatest sport ever

Clemson is just taking out top 25 teams left and right on their home court.

Looks like Dabo might need to tell his boosters to spend more money before NSD

Fowler is almost as bad as Gus Johnson.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) Ugh. I had Pittsburgh -2.5 Pittsburgh was the favorite all week. Did it ever drop under 2 points? I'd be surprised if it did since it sounded like the money was backing the Steelers.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Did you honestly think that Concussion and Donald Trump were going to affect the playoff ratings? I dont know what is funnier, a movie that isnt doing well at the box office affecting playoff ratings or the idea of playing a 4pm World Series game on a Sunday.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) There is no way the Bucs should have fired Lovie. That said, If I'm Gase, that becomes the most attractive job. Lovie got jobbed. Chris Landry is saying that Miami is wanting to lock up Gase now.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) The is an article on bleacher report suggesting part of the move was because the defense has stars on it yet has been regressing every year. It suggested that they believe the cover 2 is dated and he wouldn't change. The defense has 3 players that are worthy anything-McCoy,David and Alexander. Verner has been a bust and got beat a lot. Maybe he just didnt mesh well with Lovie so even if we count him, the other 7 players can easily be replaced. Banks showed some promise last year but got injured and then looked bad this year. Maybe Verner and Banks can produce next year under a new guy. Verner is owed like $7M so who knows if he is on the roster next year. I dont know if the cover 2 is outdated or not but I do know no defense can work when you rely on the DL to generate a pass rush and they cant. Teams had all day and could pick apart the Bucs because no one could get to the QB. It's been like that for the past 4 years.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) There were 6-6 and finished 6-10. Their drafts have been good (Jason Licht makes the picks) but Lovie runs free agency, the 53, and has personnel control. Here is why he got fired: Michael Johnson, Alterraun Verner, Dane Fletcher, Bruce Carter, Sterling Moore, Henry Melton, Tim jennings, Chris Conte, and Major Wright. Hitching your wagon to bad football players usually ends up being your demise. Which is why it's funny seeing fans go crazy over NFL free agency bc most times it's a bust. Lovie did release a few guys that have done well elsewhere but one reason Lovie signed those players is because in his only two drafts with the Bucs, TB only selected 1 defensive player. I think he brought those guys in hoping those players could still give him a season or two and they knew his system while he fixed the offensive side of the roster. Kinda ironic that for years Lovie has been blasted for his offensive hirings and then last year he gets Tedford as OC and he can't make it past preseason bc of health reasons and the season was basically lost and then he makes a good hiring with Koetter and that may have been the reason he was fired.
