2014-2015 NCAA football thread
zenryan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Man, South Carolina put one of the worst defensive performances you will see last night. They were beat at pretty much every position. They didn't get much pass pressure and everyone in their secondary got beat seemingly every play. Hill was very good, but made a few mistakes early that didn't cost them because the offense was so dominant. He ran that offense very well though. if you cant get to the QB then offenses like TAMU will run wild on you. -
I drafted Brady and Rivers and then looked and saw they have the same bye week in week 10. argh. might need to trade Rivers or pick up some scrub QB in week 10 and hope for a miracle. Brady Rivers Peterson Martin Lamar Miller Bush Harvin Floyd Jordy Nelson Mike Wallace Mike Evans Greg Jennings--last pick, probably will go another route Martellus Bennett Blair Walsh New England

FXX showing 525 straight episodes of The Simpsons. Started at 10am this morning and ends Sept 1. The show really fell off in the early 2000s but still a few days away from those episodes.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) David Price allows an unearned run in the first inning after an error and a triple, then retires the next 23 hitters. The Tigers lose 1-0. was at the game today. weird seeing Price on the opposing side but that was a great pitching performance by both Price and Cobb today.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) Somebody made a good point on twitter, writing, "since was was the job description for police offer turned into a job without risk?" I personally believe this second guy in St. Louis should have been tazed instantly. Watch the cellphone video. Did they need to kill him even if he had a knife? Walk up to him and taze the s*** out of him. I mean he might throw the knife, but again, isn't the job of cop to have 'some' risk? I'm not trying to be insensitive. I don't think the cop would have gotten killed by this guy with the knife. He was kind of meandering around. Taze him! I'm still thinking the guy in Ferguson didn't need to die either. I want to hear more about the kid beating on the cop and going for the gun. please tell me youre just trolling us now. PM me if you are and I promise not to spoil the fun youre having on this thread.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) It might as well be Matt Drudge or Fox News, lol. Breitbart.com and "Big Government" in the link of a story, c'mon, that's not going to be close to impartial, any more than CNBC anchors like Rachel Maddow or The Ed Show would be reliable sources for unbiased reporting. the irony of this post coming from someone who has linked NY Times articles in this thread....

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Oh really? That is literally the only post I've made in this thread, and you know how I feel? This is why I find discussing things like this with most people a waste of time. Exhibit A. If I told you, are you even going to listen? You made similar comments in the Trayvon Martin thread. It's pretty obvious you go around looking to be offended.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) Wow, Rick Perry with two felony indictments. http://gawker.com/texas-gov-rick-perry-ind...-fel-1622508741 Lol, good luck with that.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 16, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Incidents like this are useful to me for 2 things 1. You can tell who is actually concerned about excessive state power and accountability and who is just an asshole with a Gadsden flag as his Facebook profile picture who spends half of each day crying about Obama like a b****. 2. Identifying closet racists. They can't keep that door closed. You just pointing out those two things tells us a lot about you and you arent much better than the people youre criticizing.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) And yet most football games only have 3-4 minutes of ACTUAL action. actually its 11 minutes. Baseball has 18 minutes of action on average. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) Wait...this really bothers people? I've been tired of Hawk for years but good god the oversensitivity of people now a days is absurd. Hawk is a jerkoff and is unbearable to listen to so I clicked on the Yahoo article because I hadnt heard this latest "controversy" and was excited to have some more reason to dislike Hawk. The first thing that went through my mind after reading the article was, "that was it??" As someone said on an earlier post, just another case of people looking to be offended. -
Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) I've seen it twice this year and probably a dozen times in the races if been to over the years and that's a small fraction of all the races around the country. I've seen it at the Indy 500 and those cars do not turn like these sprint cars. How many times were those Indy drivers doing that in the dead middle of the track as cars flew by? -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:42 PM) Nope, just found it interesting that getting out is the right move. well according to a sprint car racing exec, its not the right move. link -
I'm sure there will be some great deals on the St Louis Craigslist for sale section this week

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 07:29 PM) .8 seconds? He could see him and the cars moving out of the way from the other side of the track. Stewart knew exactly what he was doing when he tried to buzz him. The problem is the either the guy walked down furteher or Stewart misjudged the distance and accidentally hit him instead. He had plenty of time to totally avoid the situation. plenty of time according to who? You? Just keep ignoring what another person who actually was driving in the race has said. This is really one of the bigger nonsense posts in this thread. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) caution flag, slow down to 60 mph, coming around a turn with a car in your face, car turns suddenly, human on track, hey I just crashed him and he's angry, I know, accelerate quickly and kick dirt in his face and try to get wheel to turn near him and aand and yeah that's like .8 seconds we are talking about. exactly. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) He couldn't leave it alone. So he tries to kick a little dirt his way, and the guy is dead. If anyone could understand a guy on the track pissed off at a competitor, you would think it would be Tony Stewart. I've read a lot of people's take on this situation who have experience riding on dirt tracks, especially east coast tracks, and they have all been consistent in saying that the dirt is so packed down that its impossible to spray up dirt. I'm sure Stewart knew this too. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) If they can't see out of the cars they shouldn't be racing them. Stewart would have missed him too if he hadn't tried to be the more macho guy. lol, what's more macho than a person confronting a guy in a moving car? -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) If he would have hit him head on, I would agree and say he didn't see him. But that is not what happened. The guy shouldn't have been on the track, I agree with that, but it is so naive to think a professional driver, one of the best alive would hit him how he hit him without any intent of trying to scare him or something of that sort. I don't think anyone thinks he hit him on purpose, but hit him he did, and I don't buy the reason he hit him was because he didn't see him. so youre just going to ignore what others who have driven those types of cars have said when it comes to it being hard to see out of the right side of the car because of the design of these cars? just going to ignore another driver in that race who said he saw him at the last second and just missed hitting him? the greatest drivers in the world arent going to see through a blind spot. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 05:57 PM) Tony Stewart is kind of an asshole and has had altercations so you think that means that he purposely tried to run over a person? Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds? go check out his comments during the NHL playoffs and you wont be surprised on this guy's stance.
