My two month old son just received a letter from United Helath Care wanting to know if he had any other insurance. F****** hillarious. Administrative costs are a huge part of the problem. Cut the paperwork and you solve a huge problem.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) You weren't born in the life of a legal firm, and nobody is forcing you to go law school. These immigrants, like many of our ancestors, were born in s***ty environments and are willing to face criminal charges and go through extreme dangers to come here and work a s***ty job for the rest of their lives. 5 years from now you'll have a smaller debt and a cushy job, and you earned by working hard. 5 years from now an illegal will still work the same level s***ty job (dishwasher, landscaper, painter, etc..) making the same s***ty money, still not receiving medical benefits but the alien will mind his or her own business while Mr. Whitecollar like yourself is trying to push them out of the country thinking it isn't fair that you can get the newest Mercedes because you have too much debt in your house and law school. Let's give them healthcare, after all it is a right.

  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 07:54 AM) illegal immigrants do all the dirty jobs that most citizens want to have no part of doing. They work harder than anyone who posts on this message board and get paid a helluva lot less all for the hope that life can be better for their family and a better future for their kids..... so yes I think arresting all of them is utter bulls***. Stop you're bringing me to tears.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:08 AM) It looks like they kicked him off of Weighs and Means, but I don't see anything one way or the other about any other committees. He is on the Homeland Security Committee.
  6. Poll: Congress 29, Bush 33 [byron York] In a new Gallup poll, just 29 percent of those surveyed say they approve of the way Congress is handling its job, versus 64 percent who disapprove. The approval rating is down from a high of 37 percent approval in February, just after Democrats took over. The 64 percent disapproval rating is one point higher than Congress' disapproval rating just before last November's elections. The 29 percent approval rating is four points below President Bush's 33 percent approval rating in the new poll. 05/15 08:46 AM

  8. This is incredible. From George Will in Newsweek: According to Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams, the San Francisco Chronicle reporters who wrote "Game of Shadows: Barry Bonds, BALCO, and the Steroids Scandal That Rocked Professional Sports," Mike Murphy, equipment manager of the San Francisco Giants, testified that since Bonds became a Giant in 1993, the size of his uniform jersey has gone from 42 to 52. His cap size has expanded from 7 1/8 to 7 1/4, even though while it was expanding he shaved his head. (Bonds reportedly shaved his head because his hair was falling out as a result of steroid use.) And Fainaru-Wada and Williams also say Murphy testified that Bonds's baseball shoe size has changed from 10½ to 13. Who needs Flintstones?
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 13, 2007 -> 07:39 AM) Most schools provide office space and logistical support for most student groups. In some areas the student groups are considered an extension of the University. I can see a difference between friends getting together and having a beer and an officially recognized student group throwing a party. I am certain that every student at that University now feels welcome to join that club, and I am certain that there are some University employees that appreciate their employer allowing them to be the object of ridicule. I love the world of conservatives you can walk around saying hey you nappy haired ho! Go back to Mexico you wet back ! Back of the bus, monkey. I'm just a stupid pollack! Whoo Whoo we're all getting along because we can insult anyone. You guys know how to party So you are saying Imus is a conservative?

  12. A radio hatemonger in Milwaukee By Michelle Malkin · May 04, 2007 10:05 AM WNOV's Michael McGee: Gleeful over radio rival's mother's tragic death Despicable: A former alderman and controversial radio talk show host said he's happy the mother of his radio rival is dead. Michael McGee Sr. made the comments during his radio show on WNOV-AM Thursday morning. Charlie Sykes is a radio talk show host on WTMJ-AM. Sykes' mother, Katherine B. Sykes, died in a house fire Tuesday. The Ozaukee County Coroner said Thursday that Sykes died of smoke inhalation... ..."Mother Sykes, she dead. To me it's the vengeance of God. I ain't got no tears. Matter of fact a woman that would have a fool like that deserve whatever is coming her. She raised a sure enough idiot," McGee said on his radio show. "My instincts say Charlie Sykes killed his momma, cuz she live out in this big palace in Mequon all isolated. He got tired of waiting for her money." More background at Modern Commentaries: [McGee's] homophobic, race-baiting radio rants coupled with his son's underhanded legal activity (he's got TWO legal names, two Social Security Numbers and drivers' licenses), his son's ill treatment of women (he threatened to kill his pregnant mistress in court, after perjuring himself and denying he'd had an affair with her), and his son's outlandish behavior (he was arrested for disturbing the peace after loitering outside a Blockbuster video, in a neighborhood where robberies are prominent, at the wee hours of the morning; he recently called for groups to throw bricks at cars in his district to...combat speeding). Unfortunately, these two have gotten away with a lot of - no, all - of this behavior. McGee (Jackson), Jr. even survived a recall election (he's an Alderman in Milwaukee). This, sadly, speaks volumes about the political climate in Milwaukee - people like the McGees are looked to as "leaders" in a community rife with violence, family strife, and racial tensions. They do nothing to help the people of the community. In fact, they embrace the violence, strife, and racial tensions (which are often played up) and continue allowing Milwaukee neighborhoods to spiral. Apple does not fall far from the tree.

  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) And a huge majority of American taxpayers and consumers will benefit if that ever does happen, IMO. Then you can bet your bottom dollar that it won't occur.
  15. Cunningham times 1000. Think you'll hear about it on the major newscasts tonight? This story has been out there for about a month now and we have not heard a peep about it from the unbiased press corps. Why is that, defenders of the MSM? How about this story: Rep. Jim McDermott had no right to disclose the contents of an illegally taped telephone call involving House Republican leaders a decade ago, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday. In a 5-4 opinion, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that McDermott, a Washington Democrat, should not have given reporters access to the taped telephone call. McDermott's offense was especially egregious since he was a senior member of the House ethics committee, the court said. When he became a member of the ethics panel, McDermott "voluntarily accepted a duty of confidentiality that covered his receipt and handling of the ... illegal recording. He therefore had no First Amendment right to disclose the tape to the media," Judge A. Raymond Randolph wrote on behalf of the court. Four judges agreed with him. The ruling upholds a previous decision ordering McDermott to pay House Minority Leader John Boehner (news, bio, voting record), R-Ohio, more than $700,000 for leaking the taped conversation. The figure includes $60,000 in damages and more than $600,000 in legal costs. Boehner was among several GOP leaders heard on the December 1996 call, which involved ethics allegations against then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga. Gingrich, who was heard on the call telling Boehner and others how to react to allegations, was later fined $300,000 and reprimanded by the House. McDermott leaked the tape to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The New York Times, which published stories on the case in January 1997. Bad Repubs= Major news. Bad Dems= SILENCE
  16. Dick Durbin accused himself of political cowardice yesterday during the Senate debate on the surrender/pork bill. The Washington Times reports: The Senate's No. 2 Democrat says he knew that the American public was being misled into the Iraq war but remained silent because he was sworn to secrecy as a member of the intelligence committee. "The information we had in the intelligence committee was not the same information being given to the American people. I couldn't believe it," Majority Whip Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, said Wednesday when talking on the Senate floor about the run-up to the Iraq war in 2002. "I was angry about it. [but] frankly, I couldn't do much about it because, in the intelligence committee, we are sworn to secrecy." It's unclear what released Durbin from his supposed vow of secrecy four years after the fact, but his charge is ludicrous on its face. It gets tiresome having to point out the same facts over and over, but we know what the CIA and the other intelligence agencies told both the White House and Congress prior to the Iraq war. The consensus view of the agencies was reported in their National Intelligence Estimate in the fall of 2002. The consensus of the intelligence agencies was that, with a "high level of confidence," Iraq possessed both chemical and biological weapons and was "expanding its chemical, biological, nuclear and missile programs contrary to UN resolutions." As to nuclear weapons specifically, the agencies concluded, with a "moderate level of confidence," that "Iraq does not yet have a nuclear weapon or sufficient material to make one but is likely to have a weapon by 2007 to 2009." and with a "high level of confidence" that "Iraq could make a nuclear weapon in months to a year once it acquires sufficient weapons grade fissile material." The only instance Durbin cited of supposedly wrong intelligence was the issue of Iraq's purchases of aluminum tubes, which he says was debated within the intelligence community. But, given the agencies' conclusions about Iraq's nuclear ambitions (not to mention its actual possession of both chemical and biological weapons) that issue was a footnote at best. Durbin accuses himself of cowardice, but it's hard to know what he would say about the other Democratic members of the Senate Intelligence Committee: as the Times notes, five of the nine Democrats on the committee voted for the war, and at least two of them, Levin and Rockefeller, specifically said before the war that Saddam was pursuing nuclear weapons. Apparently they didn't get access to the double-secret information Durbin now talks about, four years after the fact. So glad this s***bag represents me in the Senate. Can only hope Edgar runs agianst him.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 07:50 AM) So exactly what laws do people have to obey anymore? None if you're illegal. If authorities enforce any laws against them, our wonderful congressman Gutierrez comes to their defense. ( Illegal holed up in a church comes to mind). He's a joke. Yeah, illegals killing innocent young girls because they were drunk. that is o.k., they are not dead because the scum was here illegally, it is because he was drunk. If no A, then no B. Why don't the illegal apologists get that? GERALDO QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) Eh, why not. We let 12 million people do whatever they want anyway, I guess a few more crimes won't hurt, right. After all they aren't white, so they shouldn't be subject to our laws. If there is 1 illegal in this country, there are at least 20 million. The gov't. has been using the 12 million fiugre for how many years now?

  20. Interesting findings from Zogby: The vast majority of American voters believe media bias is alive and well – 83% of likely voters said the media is biased in one direction or another, while just 11% believe the media doesn’t take political sides, a recent IPDI/Zogby Interactive poll shows. Nearly two-thirds of those online respondents who detected bias in the media (64%) said the media leans left, while slightly more than a quarter of respondents (28%) said they see a conservative bias on their TV sets and in their column inches. The survey, which focuses on perceptions of the “old” and “new” media, will be released today at the PoliticsOnline Conference 2007 at GWU. It is also featured in the March issue of Zogby’s Real America newsletter, now available on www.zogby.com.

  22. New Congress yet seems like the old Congress. The US Congress is preparing to vote on legislation to provide additional funding for our troops in Iraq. In order to persuade many of their colleagues to vote for the measure, the Democrats have loaded the supplemental with language to provide resources for unrelated projects including aid to salmon fishermen, dairy subsidies and $25 million for spinach producers.
  23. It is good to know that testifying under oath to the Senate means nothing. Why didn't the CIA have Wilson sign a non disclosure agreement?

  25. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) I'm not sure I get the conservative argument here. Valarie Plame's CIA status was revealed to the world, endangering her, and all of her contacts', life. How is covering this up and lying to investigators to protect your boss, not a crime? How was this not a revenge scenario when Joe Wilson revealed that there was no correlation between Iraq and Niger, one of themajor cases for going to war? If this is the only way to nail the administration for taking us to war under false pretenses, what's the problem? Well he lied about the uranium part. He lied about the forged Italian documents. They were not released until 8 months after he supposedly saw them. He lied about his wife sending him to Niger.
