  1. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) but also said we didnt deserve to host the All-Star game in '03. That's interesting coming from a Twins player. Like the Humpty Dumpty Dome is a better place to host the ASG? :rolly
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) I agree with this completely. Everytime I saw him play CF, he was very good. Granted I still think Anderson is better, but I would grade Ford a B in CF, compared to the D that is Mackowiak. There might be an adjustment period if he's put back into CF, but the "scouting reports" I'm reading here sound encouraging. That said, Anderson's hitting really isn't a liability to this team. If KW goes after Ford or Clark, he'd damn well better put another arm or two in the 'pen. THAT'S what definitely needs to be addressed.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) Comming into this season: (he's barely played out there this year because of Hunter's good health) CF - 122 G | 963.1 INN LF - 107 G | 857.2 INN DH - 74 G RF - 32 G | 252 INN Interesting. But for all we know, Ford may play CF like Mackowiak.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) My political affiliation doesn't change obvious facts and things that exist. Funny, I had a gun stuck in my face years ago because of the color of my skin, yet I manage to not b**** about racism ad nauseam here.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Except if everyone agreed with Mariotti, people wouldn't wind up dead. :headshake QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) I don't care what she says because she's got the right to say it -- however, she also has to expect getting owned in debates when somebody calls her on her incoherent, factless, baseless s*** smears. You're preaching to the choir. That's called sarcasm and is intended to piss off people like you. And apparetly it's working. If you'd ignore her (like Mariotti), she'd lose her notoriety and eventually go away. It's too bad that Coulter feels the need to act like an asshat so often. Some of her columns are actually very good.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) I'm a moderate righty who currently despises both parties and almost everybody in politics regardless of party, but thanks for playing. Wow, I never guessed that a "righty" would bring racism into 50% of his posts.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) I don't wish death on people, but in Man Coulter's case it might be for the best if she suffered it.... But I thought that you libs were the champions of free speech? :rolly QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Colter is one of those conservatives that conservatives wish would just stfu. ^^^ It's unfortunate that she tends to stoop to this level, as she often makes very intelligent points. This type of inflammatory rhetoric destroys her credibility.
  8. Nothing like a small sect of Christians going out of their way to make all Christians look like a bunch of elitist, self-righteous jackasses. :headshake
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:20 AM) I don't know about Torii, but I would see a deal for Lew Ford as being an excellent move for the Sox, he's not too expensive, a clutch hitter, and a solid OFer. He shouldn't be too expensive, plus he wouldn't be able to kick our asses anymore. How much CF experience does he have?
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) When it comes to the long long run I'd go with the Tigers simply because of that pitching staff. That's a s*** load of fire power between a few guys and they throw it so damn easily it's scary. Also, they have proven that they have absolutley not problem with spending some money (I-Rod, Maggs, Rogers) so they could look to add a few pieces through free agency as well as keeping their good young players around for as long as possible. ^^^ I don't like their chances this year, though. Their record against elite teams is atrocious. I'd be surprised if the Indians didn't win at least 85 games this season, but they're in trouble if CC continues to be their only relialbe starter.

    Crede

    QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Yes I'm upset at Crede for his lack of ability Crede doesn't lack ability on the field. But you certainly lack the ability to analyze.
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) ...and in other news, the sun came up. ... and people are still dying and paying taxes.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) That is correct, and he actually did get the bat. I also believe he replaced it with a non Belle bat, which made it obvious. When asked about why he didn't just use another Belle bat as the replacement, he said "because Belle had all his bats corked". Good times. He replaced it with a Paul Sorrento bad, correct? QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) It has now begun, Jeff Nelson has played the "you don't do that" card. You don't rat on the guys in the baseball fraternity? Come on Jeff, Jason cut himself a deal, he gives up the names and he's probably not going to see any jail time. You'd do the same damn thing if you were in his situation. And I thought that the "don't snitch" code only applied to crack dealers in the 'hood. :headshake
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Because we have more than 1 prospect to trade, and the nice thing about a Brady Clark is that in theory he shouldn't cost more than 1 top and 1 mid level prospect, at least in my book, given that he's not all that far from FA. If Politte's having shoulder problems, Nelson can no longer pitch at a major-league level, and Hermanson's career is likely over, we're going to need trade for more than one reliever. I wouldn't be opposed to trading for Clark, but giving up one top- and one middle-level prospect for him alone might be a problem.
  15. Sounds nice in theory, but why give up prospects for Clark when you're going to need them for bullpen help?
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:07 AM) The Sox did just double Rodney's ERA this year, and also managed to score off of Zumaya the other time they saw him this year, FWIW. That'll happen when they play good teams. I respect the Tigers and all, but I don't think they're as good as their record suggests. They remind me of last year's Indians team: A very solid club that can win 90 games, but won't get it done against the elite teams. I wasn't happy with Freddy's performance last night. Even if it was technically a "quality start", he served up three taters and nearly a fourth on the line drive that hit off the top of the RF fence. But the he did minimize the damage. And our lineup did a horrible job with RISP... until the 8th. Robertson pitched well, but it's not like he was dominating our hitters last night... we were beating ourselves. Outside of the (obvious) clutch hit by Cintron, I was really happy with the way that B-Mac bounced back last night. It's nice to know that Ozzie still has confidence in him... and that he still has confidence in his pitches. And Bobby... wow. He's amost unhittable when he locates that hook.
  17. QUOTE(jackparkman @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) In 160 it it the Lemon Chill guy who is about 60 years old and is one of the scariest people i have ever seen. That guy is still there? [gruff voice] "Leeeeeeh-MON chill!!!"
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) Thats not gay, thats hot. Actually, it's childish and stupid.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:26 AM) Guys like Everett and Smoltz really should be taken to the woodshed if they made comments about playing with gay players. Its no different than saying you wouldn't play with a latin, black, or white player. Its ignorant. ^^^ I'm disappointed that Smoltz, one of my favorite players, would say something like that. :headshake
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) The problem with using mediocre to describe average is, you lose another word to describe below average players. What would you call Izturis? Orlando Cabrera? Royce Clayton? Joe Valentin? Daryl Ward? Jay Payton? Christian Guzman? You just used an applicable label. If that doesn't suit your taste, you could consult a thesaurus. I agree that OPS+ will give you comparable overall values as hitters, even when they're not the same types of hitters. But, again, a comparison of two hitters with completely different skill sets, different approaches at the plate, and who hit in different spots in the lineup will only tell you so much. Anyway, we're getting off topic here. And the original topic is worthless speculation.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Well then, mediocre does not equal average. A mediocre hitter is Cesar Izturis. It certainly can... mediocre: of moderate or low quality, value, ability, or performance If Rowand's OPS+ is 103, he definitely falls into the "moderate" category. I'll agree with that. Blaylock's averaged 29 HRs and 141 Ks over the past two years. I don't think he's the same type of hitter as Rowand. Rowand would be a lot more like Hunter if he could consistently have 25-HR seasons.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Aaron Rowand is not a "mediocre" hitter, he's pretty much an average hitter. Put it this way, if he's mediocre then so is Torii Hunter and Hank Blalock. By mediocre, I mean "average" and not in a negative way. Hunter's best days appear to be behind him (and was never a stud hitter to begin with) and Blalock's OBP is weighed down by way too many strikeouts. I think that they're both overrated. It's difficult to compare Aaron with Hunter and Blaylock anyway. The former two are power hitters. Rowand doesn't have their HR power, but has the speed to stretch singles into doubles and doubles into triples.
  23. QUOTE(worldchampsox05 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) who gives a s***..Chicago loved Aaron but that didnt stop KW. personally i think all these Philly fans are full of s***. They dont know him like we do and hes only been with them for 7 mnths and has been only playing for 2. It's not the fans that are full of s***, it's their media. Rowand's likeable on many levels, but still he's a very mediocre hitter. Philly fans would NOT mutiny if they traded him, especially if it was for a starter with Jon's upside. I'll bet they'd be happier with Garland than Gavin Floyd, Ryan Madson, or a washed-up Jon Lieber. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) I do not think the Sox are in any position to deal any sort of pitching. Definitely not until the end of the season.
  24. WTF is wrong with people these days? Jesus Christ, my wife's had a crush on Mel Gibson ever since I've known her and I have no problem with the Braveheart DVD on our livingroom shelf. :headshake RIP
