  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Ozzie just needs to call a clubhouse meeting or something and just get them to wake up a little. As for the replacing Widger as a backup catcher calls, couldn't agree more. I think maybe Ozzie and Kenny need to tear the clubhouse apart during a meeting. It just seems like this team is complacent after winning a championship last year. Bad bunting, bad pitching, bad baserunning, bad left fielding. Don't get me wrong, we have some great things going on too, they just haven't happened as often lately. That being said, unless Ozzie can get a relief pitcher without having to give up too much, then make a move. Otherwise, it's just not worth what teams are asking for in return for any of these high profile trades.
  2. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Another freaking "smallball is the cause of our problems thread"? Get the fish out of here and look at the stats. Pitching is the freaking problem. Edit: loving the new censors. I disagree, at least for this series against Detroit, which is the cause of all the panic. The reason we lost two to Detroit is because of our inability to score runs. PK even said it after the game last night, he said that you can't expect to win scoring only two runs. Well, last night we scored 2, and today we scored 1. Detroit is us last year. They have great pitching, and can manufacture runs when they need them.
  3. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Maybe not, but i am making it a point today because i am sick of seeing him play I would agree that no one wants him in there right now, but he's not the reason we're losing.
  4. QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) This is a sad day, as I've come to the realization that the Tigers and Twins are significantly better teams than the Sox, and will continue to be going forward. This is what happens when you constantly deal your prospects: You create a window of opportunity, but it doesn't remain open very long. Our lineup is old. Our pitching is overrated and locked up long-term. So, in other words, get used to this staff; outside of the addition of McCarthy, it won't change very much until 2008. The Tigers and Twins have reinvigorated their teams with the addition of young, power arms. Like the Yankess, we threw money at the issue (Vazquez); like the Yankess, we're getting burned. I love KW, but I'd really wish he'd try drafting a power arm every now and then. I think we have enough soft tossers at the ML level. I think you're taking this a little too far, wait, alot too far. The Twins are most definitely not a better team. They have two great young pitchers in Santana and Liriano. The Tigers on the other hand, they might be better right now. They remind me alot of us last year. They've held us to one run so far, and then they found a way to take the lead. They have great pitching this year, it all seems very familiar. Take a step of the ledge though, this thing is far from over. We need to start playing better fast though. Our offense hasn't been hitting since before the break. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Not on his own, but he's sure been a big part of it. So has Uribe, Crede, and Ozuna. Only Anderson and Dye have had a good game so far.
  5. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) YOU ARE NUTS....... Widger caught today, blame it on him It's Widger's fault that we have only managed one run so far and stranded 8?
  6. He's awesome, especially throwing runners out at second on a pitchout. Oh, and the hitting, I'm speechless......
  7. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) And yet everyone ignores that Kenny Rogers ERA is now 4.10. Not to mention their 1-6 record against a team posters around here seemingly have no faith in. Did I mention the Sox have been on the Tigers heels all year? (Without any consistancy, to boot.) The Tigers are f***ed. BOOK IT. Where did you see me say that I had no faith in my post? Kenny Rogers could have a 7.99 ERA for all I care, if the Tigers are in first place with the best record in baseball, then they are the best team. So what, we are now 6-2 against them, we're still not in first place with the best record.
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) Bob, Once you've been a White Sox fan for more than 8 months, you acquire a taste for the Hawkeroo. Your time is coming. Sincerely, Steve Worst argument in favor of Hawk ever.
  9. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) That's a rediculous statement, Ugly II. Have you been to other cities and found any other announcers appearing on morning radio shows? I haven't heard any on the west coast. Hawk gives way more insight then any other announcer in baseball. But what Hawk is considering as insight is all fluffed up. He is a total company man. I'd love to have someone who isn't opposed to saying if something sucks, like Steve Stone for instance. I like Hawk, but I want to hear the real bottom line, not the fluffed up version of the bottom line.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) It's harder to find thirdbasemen who can hit than it is finding outfielders (specifically corner OFers) who can hit. You move him to LF, you're making a concession that he isn't all that great defensively at third (even if Crede is there), thus, his trade value is going to fall. Fields is a good enough athlete to make the move over winter. If he plays LF in a winter league, and all throughout Spring Training, I think he'll be okay out there. I still disagree, there are scouts at all those minor league games writing up scouting reports. Evreyone knows through those if he is a liability or not. I am just saying that if we plan on keeping him and Crede, then why not see how Fields does out in the outfield?

    Films

Saw new Pirates of the Caribbean this past weekend, not bad. I little strange since it is now the middle movie in a trilogy.
  12. I got a feeling that Klinsmann is definitely the target.
  13. QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) haha wtf? EDIT: oh s***! thought that said Freddy Garcia Band But of course, who can forget Jack McDowell's band?
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) I sort of meant it was a wedge issue for our side for once. The Republicans have plenty of them...the hating of the gays, all the other religious stuff, etc. Great post!
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) One of the real things that would suffer as a result of eliminating the penny is actually charitable donations. You know those boxes say at the counter at a grocery store, or at a fast food place, where you drop in some of your extra change? Getting rid of the penny would actually significantly hurt those numbers, IIRC. Great point, never really thought about that. I hate having pennies in my pocket so I always put them in some sort of collection jar when there is one there.

60 GB Video Ipod, computer, XM radio, DVR from Comcast.
  17. Javy's got a decent chance at not sucking tonight, Comerica is a pitchers park and he does like to give up the long ball.
  18. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Farmer is way too homer-happy. His favorite insight to add is what the score would be if who happens to be at bat hit a home run. So true, Farmio definitely loves the home run as a solution to all of life's problems
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) Because if you make a move now, it possibly ruins his trade value a little, and I guess since we don't know for sure if Pods is going to be back or not, the Sox Brass just don't want to make a move yet. Something could happen contract wise with Joe Crede as well with Bora$$ as his agent. I understand the Bora$$ thing. but why would it ruin his trade value? It's not like he would forget how to play third base if he played some games in the outfield this year to see if he can do it.
  20. Has Fields played in the outfield in Triple A this year? If not, what are they waiting for?
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Beg to differ on that. Before tonight lefties had a .182 BAA, righties had a .280 BAA. Then I guess I'll say more importantly our lefties. Thome 3/6 .500 AJ 5/12 .417
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Our lefty hitters look awful tonight. Which is strange because Robertson isn't great against lefties, especially our lefties. I guess with the exception of tonight.
