Wasn't sure whether to put this here or the catch all thread.......I've got a regular ol run of the mill acer laptop running windows 7....My neice was over this morning and she somehow changed the size of the icons, fonts, and just everything, said something about a ruler looking thing she messed with....Any way I know where I have to go (either personalize then change text size, or control panel then system restore) but everything is just too damn big and the things I need to click on aren't showing up......Any help would be awesome. *Disregard*

Asking Prices Beginning to Fall

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) Here's the question. I'll ask you honestly since you deal with advanced stats and so on, WAR cost, etc. How much is 5-6 years of a quality MIF option worth? How much also would a slightly below league average 3B be worth over 5 years? How much would a true UT 1B/3B/LF/RF LH PH over 5 years control be worth, if it's overall quality off the bench? Because when I look at Dunn I see maybe a couple million that is reclaimable. But when I look at our bench options, I see some guys that have a shot. When I look at Viciedo & DeAza both I see guys who need to play everyday. And the consensus in this thread seems to be that if the choice is Dunn vs. legitimate MIF guy, or Dunn vs. Gillaspie, or Dunn vs. DeAza, dump whoever you have to dump so long as it isn't Dunn. And I think that is ridiculous, and I would bet that when dealing with 2-3 pre-arb years of a quality bench player, and also having the option to potentially buyout the remaining 3 arb years of control on that quality player, in total I believe you would be looking at a value far more substantial than anything which we can reasonably hope to reclaim for Dunn. Posters here keep saying things like "pick up the rest of the deal" or "half the contract" or "$5M" or "some value" but I don't see the history for this. The Sox would be in a low-leverage spot with Dunn and the only times you see good amounts of salary taken is when a) the player is very good & in demand, and b) when a team would rather take on $$$ than surrender a quality prospect. With Dunn option A is a tough one to see unless you're just ignoring his age & trends, and option B? We'd probably *all* rather see the Sox take the prospect given where we are. Even if they trade/DFA Dunn one of those guys isn't gonna play everyday because they still have that Konerko fellow who was brought back to platoon with Dunn. -

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) I disagree with the first part but depending on how the Sox view Keon Barnum (KW says he's going to be a monster FWIW) they may be looking for a big lefty masher bat who is near MLB ready. But if they really believe in Barnum then maybe they'll pass, or go with a Chris Carter type as a buy-low/short-term potential reclamation type. But it'll be a younger guy, nothing near Dunn. So you could b**** more about how worthless he is? Chris Carter- 506 ABs 212 Ks 29 HRs .223/.320/.451 Adam Dunn- 525 ABs 189 Ks 34 HRs .219/.320/.442 Sure he'll cost a whole lot less, but Dunns already a sunk cost right? -

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 02:37 PM) There is not a team in baseball that would want Dunn for anything more than a $1-2M tops, and that's probably overestimating things. That means you've already eaten at least $13-14M of that deal. Is it worth it to f*** the rest of the roster over in hopes of some s***ty middling f***ing prospect at the deadline? No it's not. You release him if you can't get anything out of it. SoxTalk: DERPA DERPA DERPA HE's MAKING TOO MUCH DERPA YOU ARE MISSING THE ENTIRE f***ING POINT SoxTalk: BUT WE'RE GONNA TRADE EM AND GIT SOME OF OUR DERPA BACK DERPA DERPA NO NO NO NO YOU WONT BECAUSE YOU f***ING CANT ITS f***ING GONE, THE MONEY IS GONE Release the motherf***er. But we can't! Too much money! NOOOOOO Still not getting it. RELEASE THE MOTHER f***ER Thank you. Now please tip your pinkies up while you drink your overrated $6 a bottle beer. -

That Bachynski kid looks like a boss...He's drafted with the 5th to last pick in one mock and not drafted at all in another. I'd love to see the Bulls draft him in the 2R. (I'm saying this based on one game) -
So now that the season has apparently started, where's the easiest place to follow college baseball?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 01:40 AM) They both had over 1000 PAs. That's a sufficient sample size. Obviously Dunn sucked in '11 but that doesn't change the fact. I guess your statement does indeed remain true, but it doesn't really tell the whole story. Only thing it tells me is just how pathetic Dunn was in 2011.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 12:53 AM) If someone told me in December of 2010 that Adam Dunn would get out slugged by Alejandro De Aza over this three year span... That stat is incredibly skewed by 2011. De Aza only had 150 ABs and put up a ridiculous .520 slugging%, and Dunn, well Dunn had a .277 slug%. 2012 Dunn .468 vs ADA .410 2013 Dunn .442 vs ADA .405.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) Lame. But I digress. Carmelo makes the Bulls legit, especially in the east. This franchise has to do something. 90210 was still goin' last time the Bulls were relevant. Yup, s*** made a comeback a few years ago when the Bulls had the best record in the NBA and some experts were picking them to win a title. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) I'd do it. You're left with Rose, Melo, Noah, Taj, Mirotic coming back for next year along with Felton and Shumpert. You're giving up some serious value there but you're getting Melo without gutting your top talents. Now, NYK only does this if they think/know that Melo is going elsewhere. Would all that work cap wise? I guess if the Bulls don't think they can get him in FA then I'd do it. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Actually, really smart for the Bears. Get most of the cap hit out of the way so it can be more flexible later on. That cap hit is almost half of the guaranteed money. Edit: the comment was for Cutler's contract Indeed, and the way it's structured they can dip into it if need be. -

I agree with Steve here on the Bulls side of things. Why give up 3 firsts when the potential is there that they can just sign him. Maybe if Rose was coming back for the playoffs it could payoff, but right now I'd prefer they be sellers at the trade deadline....Still just 4.5 games out of the bottom 10, if they trade guys like Taj, Dunleavy, and Kirk then they very well could free fall. -
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 9, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) If Paulino makes a full recovery & still has this kind of stuff: http://m.mlb.com/video/v21496783/balkc-pau...ut-frames-vs-os then we don't need another SP, but I wouldn't bet on that. Delgado shouldn't be all that pricey IMO. Controllable too. Keep him until Beck is ready, reevaluate after. Really what it all boils down to is what Coop and all the other "Powers that be" think of Paulino. Doesn't really matter if we don't think he can do it, if the Sox think he can be "that guy" then they should/will give him every chance to do so. With all the additions they've made to the pen I don't think there plan for him is to be a bullpen arm. If the Sox wanna acquire another SP I think it should be a guy like Surkamp who offers some upside and they can stash in AAA. What's the Charlotte rotation look like anyway? Surkamp, Rienzo, Leesman, ?, ?....Axelrod was resigned wasn't he?

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 11:57 PM) Horrible posters doing their thing. Especially wabbit, who is just beyond dreadful. I'm with you, Jose. Okay, so not everyone confuses Ronnie Brewer with Felipe Paulino. So what. Woah there guy, I wasn't getting on him or anything about it, I was just pointing out the irony in the fact that there was (is?) a Ronnie Paulino. No need for the horrible posters comment. -

Wouldn't surprise me 1 bit if Felipe(not Ronnie, who's a former catcher) pitches like a #3. I keep coming back to this stat but oh well, it seems needed.....sans 1 awful game where he gave up 6 ERs in 4 innings, the guy has a 3.40 ERA over his last 150 IP as a starter. -
