  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) He needs to talk to Mariano Rivera about that cutter and his curve is ML caliber too. His slider and change are so so. The cutter is supposed to be Coops calling card if I remember correctly.
  2. Interestingly enough the White Sox only have 2 players in the top 100 in O-Swing% (Swings outside the zone), Ramirez and Konerko....The leader in the category? AJ Pierzynski.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Isn't we widely considered a good teammate? Do you not realize he was the most productive hitter on our team? With so much garbage on this team, why on Earth would you prioritize getting rid of the best hitter? I do not understand the personal player vendettas on this site. Don't you guys care about winning games? Ya, dude was 5th in HRs and 15th in RBIs in the AL. Ks be damned you're gonna be hard pressed to find that kind of production when you're also looking to find that sort of production to replace PK. His Ks suck, and him being nothing more than a dead pull hitter does as well but the fact of the matter is if he didn't K that much or he was able to spread the ball around he'd be a bonafide superstar. He's not, he has obvious flaws but that doesn't mean he isn't a good player, you Dunn haters just expect too much.
  4. I'm kinda surprised there isn't anyone giving Beckham the benefit of the doubt. I mean he was batting in the .320s before his wrist flared up in July. I'm not saying I'm not down with replacing him with Semien I'm just surprised to see no one make this point. There's certainly a case to be made for Gordons return.
  5. Abreu without a doubt. As wite brought up in another thread PK was one of the worst players in baseball last year, it's time to move on.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) What a good ol boys club. Is Reinsdorf that popular all the other owners would just say, "Screw you Cubs. You aren't considering any bids by Cuban." Why do the other owners feel any allegiance to Jerry? Cuban just might be a breath of fresh air. I can't believe how the Sox are unable to become the best franchise in this weak-ass division. Cuban or somebody might fix that. We should be dominating the Central year in and out. What's so hard to believe? This division is far from weak. The Tigers are a top 3 team in all of baseball. The Indians just blew a load in free agency this past offseason and are hosting the AL Wild Card game. Plus the Royals have the lowest ERA in the AL.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Can we talk about the Sox having the 3rd pick now? Still too soon? I wanted to check with everyone before bringing it up again because of the thin skin around here. ...obviously, seasons over.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) We avoided the 100 loss mark. How many runs do we need to get to 600 today ? a big ol 3 spot is needed
  9. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) You said it yourself, the cuban league... Different type of baseball For comparison Puig did this in the Cuban League- .330/.430/.581...And that guy fared pretty well over here.
  10. Well shucks, I kinda wanted Pence. Great clubhouse guy who would have brought life to the clubhouse. A life that I think this clubhouse severely lacks.
  11. Does anyone know what's going on with Alfredo Despaigne? He was playing in the Mexican League this past year. He's another intriguing Cuban.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) You still haven't told us who your other QBs are/were or who they were before you dropped them for Glennon. I said I dropped Sudfeld in one league and Redman in the other 2...Im rockin 3 QBs right now. Most of us know about my Cutler/Dalton league. The others I have Luck/Eli and Ryan/Shaub....Sans Ryan I sucked at drafting QBs, waited too long in each of em.
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Bell could be worth hanging onto, certainly more value than Glennon right now. He may start and get a lot of touches this week, depending on your rbs moving forward, could play on bye weeks etc. Sudfeld? Why was he on your roster after week 1? Who are your qbs that you need Glennon? I meant that I had Redman and Bell in 2 of the leagues so dropping Redman was a no brainer. I thought Sudfeld had to break out at some point. I don't really NEED Glennon I just like the kid, and think he'll be a good talent. Going back to the offseason when I was doing research for mock drafts I was hoping he fell to the Bears in the 4th. Big kid with a cannon for an arm that Mike Mayock compared to Joe Flacco. With no other good options in the FA market and dead weight to be cut there's nothing I lose in this situation. If he sucks and a good option presents itself in the FA market then he's gone. If he's good then I don't have to worry about the waiver wire.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) He had one great year, one awful year. Let 2014 break the tie. My thoughts exactly.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) You play in 3 quarterback leagues? Nope, just a feeling, I like their big WRs and liked Glennon going into the draft..Plus I had Zach Sudfeld in one league and Isaac Redman/Le'veon Bell in the others. With no one worthy of a pick up it doesn't hurt in sacrifice of Sudfeld/Redman. I'm a fantasy football hipster.
  16. Picked up Glennon in every league...call it a feeling..you heard it here first.
  17. Get him some better talent Hahn, give him a chance.
  18. I'd hate to see Semien on the bench...either start him here or in AAA.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) One thing is obvious listening to this ... PAUL KONERKO IS A GREAT GREAT MAN! Much like this presser, that's nothing new.
  20. Though the audio is about as terrible as this season, from what I can hear it sounds like he's ready to hang it up.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) As I recall, there was a reason for his going to every one of those teams except Baltimore, really. He chose Minnie on his own and did well. Dodgers wanted him as a pinch hitter deluxe. He didn't mind going back to Cleveland for a love fest of sorts. Philly actually wanted him as well. I think Baltimore was the only weird stop, his final stop. Call me crazy, but I think Paulie will choose the Thome route rather than the George Brett route. Brett up and quit cause he wasn't putting up Brett-like numbers. ...you're crazy.
  22. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) I heard Cal Ripken interview PK on his radio show within the last couple of weeks. PK asked Ripken what he should do. Ripken said don't rush into a decision.Take your time. Wait until after the season has been over for a few days and then make up your mind. PK said that sounded like a good plan. I doubt we hear anything substantive today. I'd rather he do it now so the fans can give him a standing O. Have him play 1B, go out there for 9th then have Robin pull him.
  23. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) Or just go to the game, you can scalp for REALLY cheap right now. Guy told me Monday they are selling lower tickets for under $10 each from the scalpers. If that isn't your bag, $15 lower reserved seats or $7 upper deck seats. I get the $7 seats and move to open seats all the time. You can do the same with the $15. The game isn't going to be even close to sold out, so no need to pre-purcahse tickets, IMO. It won't sell out, but if PK announces his retirement today I'd hope more people come out the last few games....I know I'll be going now if he announces his retirement.
  24. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) If it were nothing, then why even call it? What gain is there? Why not wait until the season is over in a few days? Something's definitely up. He's either announcing this is his last year with the Sox, or he's flat out retiring. Ya, I can't imagine it being anything else. Announce it now so then fans have a few days to give him a proper farewell. Anyone know if this will be televised? Time?
  25. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) Still obscenely early, but I'll throw out an Alex Jackson. Never too premature to start familiarizing yourself with names/players/positions. I still love Gatewood, but ya, still wayyyyy to early.
