Completely agree and can relate to all that Joe. I've been a wreck for the last 2 years. I find myself comparing any girl into me to her and thats a f***in mess. I still dream about her which is brutal when trying to forget about her. As much as a b**** I feel like saying it, she ruined my life. And I wouldn't be lying when I say soxtalk has kept me from doing something stupid with my life.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) I've mentioned this several times before, but according to the research Tom Tango did on linear weights and the base/out probability, Adam Dunn is a prototypical 3 hole hitter. http://www.insidethebook.com/c05.shtml I recommend the reading, but the long and short of it is that the #3 hitter hits with bases empty and two outs more than anyone and also hits with 1 out and a runner on first more than anyone. Therefore, high power is the best attribute of a #3 hitter, and high strikeouts are actually desireable because they avoid double plays and don't hurt any more than other outs when they are the last out of an inning. The "traditional" #3 hitter prototype is really what the #2 hitter should be, who gets more RBI-on-a-basehit-or-extra-base-hit opportunities than anyone other than the #4 hitter, and is probably the most wasted lineup spot in "traditional" lineups. I actually LOVE Ventura's lineup construction because Youk/DUnn/Konerko/Rios makes so much sense according to this research. In retrospect, Rios probably should have been the #2 hitter, but #5 is a great place for him too and Youkilis was perfect for it when he was hot. Here's a bastardized summary, not nearly as good as the Book itself: http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/3/17...-your-lineup-by I support this as a Dunn supporter. I also would support Rios is the 2 hole, but i would want someone with some pop down in the 5 spot should that happen. -
Your 2013 Plan for the White Sox

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) The Yankees have a $200 million contract at 1st, and Arod as a DH in waiting. The Rays don't have the money for Dunn. Houston isn't going to be adding payroll after the year they just had. Giants and Orioles could be a maybe. Texas also isn't looking to add offense, plus they have candidates for 1B in guys like Kinsler and Young. The Yankees are gonna have a hole at 3B so I think they'll still use Arod over there for a few more years. Texas may lose Hamilton and Napoli, I think they'd be in the market for some offense. Why would they move Kinsler from 2B? -
Ya man its the worst. Unless someone comes along and "sweeps me off my feet" I just don't care. Its been over 2 years and s*** still hurts me, everything I do reminds me of her. For the 3 years I was with her, I drove her to her "friends" house everyday after we hung out, turns out it was actually her now husbands house! what kind of s*** is that!! I never wanna go through something like that again!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 02:35 AM) 7 months and nobody wants to talk about a relationship? Anyways, wite has a date tomorrow night I've given up on relationships, after spending everyday for 3 years of my life with the girl of my dreams and her pretty much ripping my heart out and eatting it for breakfast I just gave up. I'm married to soxtalk, thats all I need.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) And yet none really wanted him before the two worst years of his career. I mean there are a lot of 1B/DHs out there, not there are a lot of teams with those needs. Looking at 2010 rumors I see the White Sox, Tigers, Rays, Giants, Braves, and Yankees were all interested in him. All playoff, or close to playoff teams. Like I said, a team with money who has a hole at 1B or DH (maybe even a corner OF spot) would love to have him. Dunn was due for a lot of $$$ so that eliminates a lot of smaller market teams, and a lot of teams have a good 1B and/or DH so that eliminates a lot of teams as well. Lets make it clear I DON'T wanna trade Dunn unless the Sox replace him with a LH power hitter who can produce like Adam does. But this discussion about no one wanting him i think is a little off IMO. I can see the Rays (esp if Pena is not resigned), Yankees, and Giants still having interest along with teams like Texas, Baltimore, and maybe even the Astros with their move to the AL who might be interested should the Sox, for whatever reason, decide to trade him. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) Not true at all. There was a pretty limited free agent market for him two years ago. Now he is coming off of one of the worst years in baseball history, followed up by a big power year, where he struck out over 200 plus times, and got injured.. all while still having about $30 million more owed to him. How many teams with the money had a hole at 1B/DH? There are a lot of those out there. -
Soxtalk has been sooo boring, at least that was 8 pages of fresh nonsense to read/contribute to. Lost in all that was someone asking about a fantasy basketball league, I want in... [email protected]

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) blame the players. Thinking you got hacked is not the same thing as flopping though. I know Chris Paul, Wade, Lebron, Ginobli, Harden, Blake...are some of the most egregious floppers in the league. The fact that they're big stars makes it WORSE imo Because they can get away with it... it may be a b**** move but if it works and if it helps you win why not? Just Win

Lebrons been known to s*** his pants in the 4th quarter. Maybe that was the case?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) I think that Rios was adversely affected by Ozzie in 2011. No proof, just what I think. I was down on both Dunn and Rios in 2011, hated both acquisitions. But Rios has my respect now. He should be solid in RF in 2013. Dunn??? I said earlier that I can't think of any team that would take him. Still can't. Any team with a hole at DH or 1B would want him. The man drove in close to 100 RBIs and was 3rd in HRs. He was an All Star. If he gets traded and the Sox don't get some highly productive LH batter to take his place i'll be highly disappointed. It'd be pre all in all over again where they were a LH DH away from title contention. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) Quitting on his team was pretty bad I meant before the decision. If he decided to go to the Bulls no one would care. Well Bulls fans anyway.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 11:25 AM) I didn't say it on here, but I wanted no part of Lebron James and was hoping he wasn't choosing the Bulls. I don't know care how good he is, I can't stand that jackwagon. I wanted Wade and/or Bosh at the time, but my hatred for them is now growing too. What made him a jackwagon? Before the decision I don't remember him being real douchey at all. He didn't label himself king lebron, the media did. I would have creamed myself if he came here and I'm sure you wouldn't have cared once the Bulls started a new dynasty

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) I'd make that trade immediately and commence madturbation. This. Well said. And I say that as one of the biggest homers on this board. It'd be pretty sweet to win it with what we got which I think is possible in a few years but if you can gaurentee me a title with some trades then make it happen daddio.

I'd be down. I never follow through with fantasy basketball, but being in a soxtalk league would keep me interested.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) Unstoppable? I wouldn't consider Noah an offensive threat and Bynum is seemingly always banged up. Plus we'd lose our 2nd most effective scorer. I wouldn't like that scenario at all. Unstoppable on defense is what I think he meant and I agree.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) The last part. Gotcha... and thats because thats when his rookie contract would have been up had he been over here, and nothing to do with the Bulls cap number, right?
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) Ugh, if you don't have the attention span to read, or at least look at the charts, I'm not going to bother. Unless Mirotic is willing to give up like $15 million over the course of his rookie contract, he's not coming before 2014-15 at the earliest. Alright I went ahead and read it (it was shorter than I thought) and I'm still lost. So the Bulls won't have the MLE till 2014 even with the amnesty Boozer? Shouldn't that give the Bulls more than enough to give Mirotic his 5 mill a year which is more than what he's making out there Or is 2014 just when we don't have to pay him on the rookie scale.
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Just read this: Mirotic financial information. Basically, 2014-15 is the earliest they'll see him, maybe later if they don't have the full MLE/cap space available. lol but that article is soooo longgggg. I literally just had it open but don't have the attention span to read it all. What I gathered from the conclusions that they thankfully posted at the beginning..... 1. It is cost prohibitive for Mirotic to come over before the 2014-2015 season. 2. The Bulls will have to use an MLE, not the Rookie Scale, to sign Mirotic (they have this option beginning in 2014). This means, barring trades, Mirotic will be the major addition in the year they bring him over - they will be unable to sign another major free agent (Chicago will only have minimum contracts and possibly the Bi-Annual Exception left to offer). 3. The full Mid-Level Exception will probably be required to sign Mirotic. The mini-MLE would be a significant pay cut even if the buyout were negotiated down to zero. This means the Bulls will only be able to sign him in a non-taxpaying year. Deng’s contract comes off the books in 2014, Boozer’s in 2015. Is if they had the full MLE or the 5 mill in cap space they would be able to sign him. Wouldn't trading or the amnesty of Boozer free that money up?
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) Mirotic would have to give up s***loads of money to come here before 2015. "Recruiting him" isn't going to get him here any sooner. I know we've been through this 100 times but refresh my memory. Lets say Boozer has a really good year this year with the absence of Rose. What if they can trade him in the offseason for minimal contract returns. Can they use that money for Mirotic? What about the amnesty of Boozer? The way he stretches the floor would work out perfectly for the rest of the team.

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:05 PM) As fun an experiment as it would be to have 4 lefties in a rotation*, if you had to chose between Quintana and Santiago who would you choose? To me Hector is the clear choice. He has better stuff and seems to have a great approach mentally where he doesn't let small stuff get to him and could pitch over mistakes (coughFLOYDcough) the classic "bulldog" mentality. * I do however think Danks won't be ready to go by April... Just a hunch. If he is he certainly won't be 100% and throwing like he's shown he can at times in the past. I've heard this a few times now, wasn't Danks projected to come back in September at one point?? My memories foggy did something happen during his rehab? -
I wanna see D Rose recruit Mirotic while he's hurt. Can he and GarPax go to some Real Madrid games or would that be against some kind rules? Fill that mans head that he's ready to take the Bulls to the next level and Derrick saying he really wants to play with him. Based on the Sam Smith article on the Bulls website he sounds like the real deal and he would fit in so well with the rest of the team. As far as this year goes, I like who they are as a team. This team is built on defense and adding Kirk just adds to that. If Rip can stay healthy he's still a capable defender and with Kirk, Rip doesn't have to take on the other teams best scorer which should save him on the offensive side of the ball. The rest of the bench should be on par with last years team. I expect this to to be a playoff team and if and when Derrick comes back and knocks off the rust I see no reason why they cant compete for a title.
