2012-2013 NFL Thread
2nd_city_saint787 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Whaaaat?! This is the 666th Monday Night Football game. They should be all Tebowed in. Not to detour the conversation, just wanted to throw out something I heard on the Dan Patrick Show. I didnt hear them mention the 666th MNF which added to this. Passe rating? 66.6 TDs? 6 INTs? 6 jersey number? 6 I hope he doesnt throw another pass, how ironic would that be. If something strange happens to Mark Sanchez and Tebow leads them to the playoffs I will be convinced that world is going to end in 2012. -

Ya there's a pretty good view where you can see what happened. The guy behind the dude that got hit gave Punk a pretty good push to the back of the head. I can see why he thought it was the guy he hit, but it wasn't so that guy will probably get some money out of it. This reminded me of this hilarious video of Punk. The best part of the Punk DVD is when Punk said Vince told him he had a challenge for Punk. That challenge was for Punk to be a heel, Punk laughed and said whats the challenge. He's clearly an awesome heel. -
Your 2013 Plan for the White Sox
2nd_city_saint787 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want a new, I have nothing better to do, plan Rios and Q+ for Andrus and Galllo (I'd throw in another decent prospect/bullpen arm) Lexi for Gerado Parra and prospects Sign Napoli, Chavez, and Haren trade Thornton for whatever (bench help) Re sign Floyd Starting lineup Andrus SS R De Aza CF L PK 1B R Dunn DH L Napoli C R Chavez 3B L Tank RF R Parra LF L Beckham 2B R Rotation Sale Haren Danks Floyd Santiago Clearing Peavy, Rios, Youk, and Thornton should clear up enough money for Napoli and Haren -
Your 2013 Plan for the White Sox
2nd_city_saint787 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The whole reason Texas is trading Andrus this year is to start Profair next year. I don't think they're gonna wait or look for a stop gap like Lexi. Rios for Andrus would be interesting and more realistic. Sox lose some power but they add a bat to the top of the order that can make things happen. Of course though, who knows if Andrus can/wants to play 2B, or if they would have to trade off Lexi (which a lot of people here would like). A De Aza/Andrus 1-2 top of the order punch would be pretty exciting. -

Monday is a wrestling day! (Perhaps I'll start posting a video every Monday?) Really fun video (and I don't mean the misspelling of independent) The Punk spots are fantastic. Shows you guys that never got the experience to see indy wrestling how fun it is. I was at a few of these shows. Also 2nd city saint is the name of punks old stable so that tells you right there how much i like the guy....Punk is to me as ozzie is to greg. -
QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) Hank Conger I haven't looked at his minor league stats but he's got a .204 average in 211 ABs vs RHP...don't think thats the answer
-
That was some interesting stuff Tuna. I live right down the street from State line/Cal City, I always walk down state line to a smoke shop. I see prostitutes and drug deals going down all the time (I assume this is some gang activity). Am I safe in me thinking that if I dont mess with them they wont mess with me or am I playing with fire. I've only had a few problems with stares and a guy followed me home once after asking for a dollar.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) If you're going to platoon Flowers, you need to get someone that can hit RHP. I botched that post. By good RH hitters I meant good hitters vs RHP
-
Are there any good RH hitting catchers hitting the market that can be brought in to split time with Tyler? Lucroy or Maldonado from the Brew crew are targets if they wanna make a trade.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Alex Rios is going to disagree with you. I would like to see Coop replaced someday since I think he has become stagnant. What makes you think that? Just because he wasn't able to fix Liriano?? I don't see how one can go from a good pitching coach to being a bad one...Did the game change or something? -
Worst collapse in franchise history?
2nd_city_saint787 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) I think many will change their mind on this. This was not in any way a World Series team. If they had Paulie doing what he was doing in the first half they would be a contender for the title IMO. With broke down Paulie they had no chance, as evidence with them falling out of the race. A 3 game lead with a team like the Tigers breathing down your neck is not a collapse all things considered. Texas losing a 13 game lead including a 5 game lead with 9 games to go is what a collapse looks like -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) Come on, a lot of managers would have yanked the starters for some lefty/right late-game crap and definitely would have went with closers. I wish you guys would either give Ozzie a ton of credit or blast Robin as much as you are blasting Ozzie. Robin was in charge of a late-season collapse that frankly was an embarrassment. The team went with a whimper. So either praise Ozzie for completing the deal in 05 or blast Robin as you would have blasted Ozzie had he been this year's skipper in charge of that choke-job of the last several weeks. I'm not about to turn on the guy who actually engineered a season that ended in a parade. Not when your SPs are cruising and their pitch counts were under control like they were. It'd take a pretty stupid manager to pull those guys. Once again was it Robins fault Dunn and PK combined for a .220 average for the final month of the season? I have no problem saying "congrats to Ozzie for winning in 05" but I won't praise him for his career here. With that pitching staff in 05 I dont care who the manager was you're gonna win with the type of seasons those guys had.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Geez, an A for Robin? True it was his managing debut, but it's not like the guy hasn't seen baseball. He played for what, 20 seasons?? I think he's getting off easy for the late-season collapse. We better hope he doesn't manage like he did in September in April, May, June next season. I got sick of all the early hooks of pitchers and all the other tinkering he did like failed stolen base attempts, etc. C'mon man, was it his fault the 3-4 hitters we're hitting around .220 for the final 2 months?? (more than likely due to injury) Are failed stolen bases really his wrong doing What's the etc.? As far as the early exits go, looking at the box scores, the pitch counts, and who they are I don't think they we're bad moves at all. This isn't 05 where we had 5 horses in rotation, we had 3 first time starters, a guy coming off surgery, a wild Liriano, and Gavin Floyd.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) While I agree managers get too much credit and too much blame, you must realize Ozzie did something in the 05 postseason that was kind of groundbreaking. He had the balls to leave in his starting pitchers in the games; had that not worked, people would have wanted his butt run out of town. There was no mixing or matching of bulls*** lefty/righty stuff. He left our starters in the games. lol oh man greg you're great. When you throw 5 horses out there who are all cruising why would he take them out? That's not ground breaking, it's common sense. 112, 116, and 118 aren't some outlandish pitch counts where you can say, "man Ozzie changed the game leaving those guys out there that long" The SPs made Ozzies job a lot easier.

Honestly, thats just a personal opinion, and yes I meant it. Just following him pretty much his whole career gives me the added respect that I haven't got from anyone else. I was there when he was wrestling 30+ min matches in front of 200 people and putting on a better show than the guys in the WWE. I literally stopped watching the WWE because I was spoiled from watching GOOD wrestling a few times a month from the indy circuit. It was like a slap in the face to watch WWE, I thought WWE fans were idiots at the time. It wasn't until Punk made his debut that I started to watch again, just to track what he was doing. He's literally the reason why I watch. Plus now there are other guys with a ton of actual talent that the WWE is bringing me in and thats making me love the WWE again. When/if the WWE gets a Punk vs Hero feud I can die happy lol I also have hit him with a dodge ball, moshed with him at a warped tour, and he announced at a concert I was at (Bouncing souls show...we both have bouncing souls tattoos)...so I have a strong connection with him. Much like Daniel Bryan who has slapped my ass in a Meijer parking lot. Its just awesome to see these guys make it. -
man i thought this was a lot better than it really was.
-
Lol greg your love for ozzie is both admirable and hilarious Hearing you agree to someone saying coaching is overrated only adds to the hilarity I understand 05 was a huge year, but he simply does not get a life time pass for that. You eliminate that year and he is 1 game over .500 as a manager of a lot of quality teams. Pitching won the 05 title, not Ozzie.

Just finished watching the CM Punk documentary...pure awesomeness. buy it, pirate it, do what you gotta do to see it, just see it. Start to finish it was the greatest thing ever put out by the WWE, much like CM Punk. It may not be as well received by you guys because you haven't been there for his whole ride like I have but that guy is def something special. As corny as it may sound, that man is my idol. ....I just wish he wasn't wearing a cubs hat throughout the whole thing -
How dumb...They cant just roll back a portion of the tarp or something?

That looked like a Tiger play right there
