QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) Ok, time for the Stern blow hard to chime in. Stern asked them if he could mention his move to Sirius and they said yes. He also didn't even refer to it by name. CBS won't win. The whole thing is bulls***. They should have fired Stern when he signed the contract....oh but wait, they made a f***-load of money with him. This whole thing is stupid. Sour grapes on Moonves' part. WAAA! Howard left us. My pussy hurts. here's why CBS will win. not for the mentions alone, but because stern signed a contract with sirius while still under contract with CBS. Before he left, sirius promised stern 200 million shares of sirius stock if new user quotas were met before he joined sirius. so stern started plugging mercilessly, and low and behold, sirius surpassed their quotas and stern got his 200 millions shares, which he promptly and almost completely unloaded, resulting in stern pocketing over 200 mill. if that is not conspiracy-payola, i dont know what is. also, calling cbs greedy while not calling stern greedy is rediculous.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) IF he violated a contract - can't say since I haven't seen it.. :rolly .. and CBS continued to allow him to do so who's the stupid assholes...? They had every right to suspend him, and they did twice - without pay according to him and not disputed by them. If they felt wronged they should have done more. They didn't. Their fault. "if"? c'mon, are you serious? just from reading that article i can personally attest to his violation of the contract- i listened to his show before he went to sirius and heard him do it. but i guess you just cant side with a big ol' evil media corporation no matter what (that is apparent at this point). all i can say to you is, yes, howard stern has to abide by contractual obligations at peril of being sued just like every other person in this country. it doesnt matter if the plaintiff is a stupid asshole- they are still going to win. dont forget that lots of stupid assholes win in court all the time despite being stupid assholes. in fact, most people involved in lawsuits are stupid assholes in some aspect, or they would not be in court to begin with.

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 02:20 AM) I got to imagine that CBS will have evidence to verify their "repeated directives." To me it seems like CBS has a very actionable position and that this will result in a sizable settlement for CBS being paid for by Sirius. my feelings exactly.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SAD...-02-28-19-26-47 the only question is: how, under islamic law, is saddam going to be executed? if they chop your hands off in saudi arabia for theft, i cant wait to hear what lies ahead for our good old friend saddam hussien. p.s. way to follow through on the hunger strike, saddam. you are awesome. http://www.newcriminologist.co.uk/news.asp?id=-1504926679 go hard or go home! saddam is a frickin pansy!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) LMAO. How about all the politicians that find time to appear in Rush's show? The Saturday morning news shows? This is well within what leaders should be doing. They are experessing their views and defining their beliefs. Seems like a great use of their time. If this was a group of GOPers talking on Rush you would be lapping it up. Damn it McCain, you got filing to do, stop that interview. i never said they arent allowed to put out statements like this. how did you get that out of anything i've said? all i said was that it was written up and signed on government time, and it is just feel-good b.s. this isnt a political thing for me. read my above posts. even if it was bipartisan or republican, it would still be smoke and mirrors.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I ran over two women running away from that place last week. But this is talking about religion. And let's be honest Friday's wouldn't be involved here. Where are you going after church? That's right - I'm talkin Bob Evans baby. i must concur. bob evans is a guilty pleasure.

perhaps we should just shoot saddam in the f***ing head. its the least he deserves after this little tidbit of evidence offered against him: http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?p...1-3-2006_pg7_47 actually, im more for forcing him to resume his hunger strike he had going. go hard or go home, saddam, you god damn pussy! http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?p...1-3-2006_pg7_47

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) I guess you're right. Better they spend their time shooting 78 year old men I guess. that was great. i especially like the fact that it has everything to do with what we are talking about right now. bitter?

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) I think CBS screwed themselves by allowing him to continue doing something they could have stopped. They got their $$ by leaving him on the air. Should be a wash. I honestly think this will get tossed with CBS getting a "you guys shouldn't have been so effing greedy and stopped it when it was happening.. bubye.. " that fine and nice that you feel that way, but stern still violated a contract. theres no two ways about it, he owes CBS a s***load of money. even howard stern has to abide by legal contracts.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) This wasn't done on government time. i think its safe to say that a declaration signed by 55 democrat politicians had plenty of government time put into it. what are you saying, that they all got togethor during their lunch breaks and after 5 pm?? its all government time when you are in the national assembly.

chris penn was a hilarious secondary character in a few movies i like. he was good in starsky and hutch, and great in corky ramano. dumb-funny movies, i know, but theres a time a place for all different kinds of movies.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) And when he crossed their line, they suspended him for a few days. If they had a bigger issue, they should have done more. Bottom line, he was their cash cow. They sucked it up for that reason alone. Now to come out crying makes them look like the idiots they are. This is much ado about nothing. I'm well aware of how powerful Stern is. I'm well aware of how the game is, and was played. Sirius screwed because they haven't turned a profit yet...? Ok... absolutely right, he was their cash cow. they did all they could do without throwing billions out the window. no sirius isnt screwed because they havent turned a profit. they are screwed because they are also being sued along with stern. and my bet is that they will have to pay for a portion of all that free advertising they got with CBS. so with that and their failure to turn profit, they are not looking to be in the best of shape.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Air America's New York station 1190 WLIB is starting to see some movement in the latest ratings. Their AQH (the amount of people listening in any average 15 minutes between 6 and midnight) went up from 27,800 to 34,300. Randi Rhodes is actually beating Sean Hannity in Men 25-54. That's pretty significant because target audience for talk is Men 25-64, and with Randi winning in a large part of that money demo is good news for WLIB. Btw, their meaningless 12+ share number is now up to a 1.6 (a 60% increase in the last six months.) i wonder if their checks for employees are clearing yet. last i heard some checks were not. also, has franken and WLIB's GM repaid the money they stole from a NYC Boys and Girls Club of America yet?

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) I'm sorry, I'm not impressed. It's like a giant collective campaign promise-- sounds and looks good on paper, but in reality will not be carried out at all, and nobody will really care. Less statements, less feel-good-about-ourselves bulls***, more action. More putting up and more shutting up. Quit wasting tax dollars composing stupid worthless "Up With Catholic Politicians" mantras and do your f***ing jobs. hear, hear. this is pandering to religious folk who they are afraid will vote conservative in upcoming elections. they are trying to neutralize the religious aspect of american politics, which is as impossible to do today is it was on the first election this country ever had. even if it was bipartisan, it is obviously smoke and mirrors. but if it makes you feel good, then good for you, cause thats exactly what this whole thing is about. in conclusion, this declaration will change absolutely nothing when it comes to the policies of the democratic party.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Oh f*** Les and the horse he rode in on. #1 - Howard gave 14 months notice. #2 -If they had an issue with him mentioning Sirius then they could have let him go sooner, or asked him to stop, or censored his show. They did nothing. And they were idiots not to. They screwed themselves. no they didnt. they repeatedly demanded that stern cease promting satilite radio on CBS for the entire time he did it, and threatened suit just as many times. CBS was powerless though. fire stern?!? their station would have los their entire listnership on the spot, whereas they at least have some of it still. not to mention the billions (literally) they made off of the advertising revenues for his show (even when he was plugging sirius on CBS). i dont think you understand how powerful stern is- he probably personally accounted for at least a quarter of the entire ad revenues for that station. when you hire stern, you kind of have a gun to your head. CBS did all they could do realistically. and they were wise to sue sterns ass for this. sirius got hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of free ads every day from stern. stern and sirius ought to pay for it now. stern explicitly breached his contract on the air every day. if CBS needs any witnesses, they can take their pick from the millions who listened to him. believe me, i love to hate the big media corporations just like everyone else, but this time, stern screwed up big time. he is looking at a judgment of over $100 million, judging from the allegations in that article. probably much more than that, even. if hes smart he will settle for an amount that wont be disclosed and he'll keep his mouth shut about the whole thing. CBS was wise to wait until he left before suing, though their damages in court may be reduced for failing to mitigate damages. reaslistically, though, had they sued while he was on the air, stern would have crucified them on the air every day. you cant really f*** with the top dog until his 15 minutes has ended on your station- rules of the game. with stern: he says and does whatever he wants. hes gotten away with it for years and years, but hes screwed this time. and so is sirius. by the way, they have yet to turn a profit. its only a matter of time until XM buys out sirius or sirius buys out XM.

2006 White Sox Ticket Sales @ US Cellular Field
samclemens replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i'll be attending that 4/22 game when the twinks come to town, and the only tickets i could get was in the frickin' 500 level almost in the corner of the upper deck. then again, i needed 4 in a row, but even when i checked for two in a row, there was only upper deck 500 level tix available (this was over two weeks ago). on the bright side, i wont have to worry about the foul poll blocking our view since we are too high above it! -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) HEY! I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THE ARMY TO FACE COMBAT! :rolly seriously, no kidding. when you are a soldier, you do whatever the f*ck they tell you to do, trusting in your superior's judgment and excluding a war crime or something like that. i believe that zogby polls were discounted on this site for having "suspect methods" by posters on both sides of the eisle here at soxtalk. i dont remember what thread it was, but i think i remember bigsqwert going into a bit more detail about zogby. (correct me if i'm wrong, i dont have the time or effort to go back through old posts and find it) -
the connection between the part liotta played and his distant cousin trying to play pro ball is so frickin far from irony its rediculous.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah I prefer GW's stumbling and bumbling use of the English language. Much more polished than an articulate ex-editor of the Harvard Law Review. objectively, what has barack done to deserve the reputation as the up and coming democrat politician?

strong language from KW. i always liked frank, but maybe KW should have just given frank a bottle, a binki, and a depends diaper. whaaa, frank, whaaa.
