Annual mess with Cub fans day at my work II
samclemens replied to southsideirish71's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) I'm glad to see sumone picked up the ball and ran with it. It's easy to say "give me a f***in break" or "relax" when if you were monitored as your employees are would you be able to "relax" ? What you did was for you're own personal gain. It had nothing to do with company policy or the laws regarding the invasion of privacy. welcome to the corporate world. all corporate empoyees are monitered these days. if you dont like it, call your local house or senate rep and try to get the goddamn law changed. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) In 2003, everyone thought Dean would be the nominee. until...the dean scream! http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/mu.../dean_nuts.mpga

a friend of mine seems convinced that edwards will step back into the spotlight and re-emerge for a run in 08.

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) If the GOP wanted a sure-thing winner, they'd go with John McCain. He'd get 70% of the vote... maybe even mine. If he wants to run, and does not get nominated thats all you'll need to know about the republican party. He'd win with ease, and if they pass him up for another conservative, it would be an ominous sign for america. i agree. mccain is a shoe-in. however, theres a long time to go until the election so who knows.
-
QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) you are assuming the repubs will nominate a moderate republican. yeah, i know. but the furthest right you are going to get is bill frist, as far as i can tell. compared to how far frist is from moderate compared to how far hillary is from moderate, that is what i base my assumption on.
-
QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) I'm a democrat and I agree completely. If Bush were a Dem, the republicans would have found a way to impeach him three scandals ago. The problem is that no one possess the charisma of the ever-popular Bill Clinton. To the Democrats, he was Michael Jordan... almost impossible to replace. (Obviously most GOPers think differently). Somebody has to step up. I really don't think that person is Hillary... maybe its russ feingold or mark warner or whoever.... I sure hope they figure out who it is before 2008. i am not a democrat by any means, and i will be overjoyed if hillary runs. she will lose badly to a moderate republican.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) the fact of the matter is, there is no country on earth that ever succeeded when a government was forced upon them. democracy ONLY works if it is what the PEOPLE of that country want and if they are willing to fight for it. otherwise what purpose does it serve? the only reason ours has worked up until now is because of the amount of passion that was vested in it at the founding of our nation (and because we were breaking away from a monarchy and wanted the exact opposite). in Iraq there is no catalyst for becoming democratic EXCEPT that it's what the US WANTS them to do. and that is absolutely no motivation for the average iraqi. i disagree. see Japan.

O'Reilly starts petition to fire Oblermann

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I love how so many people hate O'Reilly but yet talk about him so much. thats why he's so rich -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) A couple of interesting quotes from James Jay Carafano from the Heritage Foundation. http://www.americandaughter.com/index.html...r.com/index.php And http://www.heritage.org/Research/HomelandDefense/wm997.cfm This From Dick Meyer at CBS.com http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/22/...in1335531.shtml Looks like we sold out long ago, and to governments who are a lot less cooperative than the UAE. this goes back to what kap said earlier. im seeing a lot of blind personal hate for the president, and not any reason why this deal should not go through that trumps the reasons for the way things are usually done (take the LA port referenced in kap's post i am responding to, for instance). people are just s***ting their pants about it right now because they have run out of things to b**** about, since cheney's hunting accident turned out to a worthless weapon to attack the presidents administration. i'm sure that in a week or so, the liberal media or george soros or a disgraced dan rather will bring up something else. b****, b****, b****; but it looks like this deal is going through anyways. money talks louder than votes; it did BEFORE this administration, and it will afterwards, whether a republican or a democrat is in office. if you are going to be outraged by this deal, then you should be pissed off that 99% of the s*** you have in your house is made in china, made in sweat shops. talk about selective issue-spotting. jesus.

a lot can happen between now and the elections. this poll is virtually worthless.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) I've always been fuzzy on how a kid can be "kidnapped" by his/her own parents... happens every day with divorced parents/drug addicted parents.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Yeah, not really true. http://www.salon.com/tech/col/smith/2006/0...askthepilot174/ The average pilot starts at a salary of 16-22K. thats total b.s. commerical pilots get paid rather well. http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layouth...TR20000008.html

French Intel: CIA Met With Osama 2 Months Pre 9/11
samclemens replied to KipWellsFan's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) Didn't we sell weapons somewhere also against an arms embargo? I guess we're not trustworthy either. apples and oranges. i just love this argument. since it would make us appear hypocritical, we should not do anything, and just say "f*** it". that is an excellent plan. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) They're sneaking in the country without going through a border, why wouldn't they just sneak back out? because they'll probably be shot by their compatriots. not to mention the network they have joined probably knows where their family is. thats the same thing as saying to an inner-city gang member, "why dont you just leave the gang? its that easy, just leave." you and i both know its never that easy.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) I'd respond, but I don't even understand what you're saying. thought you might pick out that your fav, clinton, said that while under oath at a grand jury deposition. seems like your defense for this guy is that, since he is just a lowly councilman, he can say whatever he wants about the military since he isnt connected to it. how about some accountability? maybe even some representation of your constituency? even if he was just some guy on the street he would still be a moron.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) My own 2 eyes will suffice. When I was in Iraq we found literally tons of brand new weapons and othe military hardware stamped "Made in France" and the waybills had origin points in France. Thats pretty compelling evidence if you ask me and it got swept under the rug. i fail to see how you can argue with this. please dont split hairs about whether the french gov't knew about it or not. please. liberals in this board assume daily much worse about the american government based on way less information than we have in this situation. cant have it both ways, lefties! -
this UAE company is going to be managing the ports. effectively, they will be scheduling who comes and goes. remember, the US coast guard and customs officers will still be there. i wrongly spoke too fast earlier. i cant fully endorse the deal just yet. but as more facts come out, its affirming what i initialy thought.

manny being a f***ing BUM

i dont have any impirical evidence to back up southsider2k5, but it is widely known over in Iraq that many insurgents are not iraqis anymore. iran and syria are substantial contributors, along with most other arab nations. again, i cant find anything to back it up, but i remember reading about how when an insurgent enters Iraq, their passport is taken so that they cannot leave the country and they have to stay and keep fighting even if they want to leave.
