  1. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) congrats KC I imagine Minnesota or new Yankee Stadium is going to be 2014 or whoever doesnt get it them will have 2016 (unless they go away from the alternating AL/NL host sites) It will be a joke if New York gets it again after hosting it last year, but it will probably happen sooner than it should. I thought I heard boston was getting one soon, I guess MLB agreed to give it to them since they went to Japan last year.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) Entourage almost felt like it is starting it's last season, but don't think that is etched in stone. It was ok last night. Yea it kind of felt that way to me too. But from what I've heard, the writers think they have enough material for a couple more seasons.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) This is great news. When they speculated that Wakefield would be the starter, I was so angry that I didn't even make a post about it because I would've went on a tirade. That guy doesn't even deserve to be in the game, let alone the starter. Couldn't agree more. It looks like Maddon just did a favor to a mediocre veteran pitcher. Another thing with Wakefield is, can anybody catch him? Probably not a good idea to put in a knuckleballer when the catchers on the roster have probably never caught one.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) I would be very surprised if the worst case senario, in which we don't sell anybody (except maybe a bullpen arm) and also don't win the division, doesn't happen. We're too close for Kenny to sell, and I don't think we're good enough to win the division either. I hope i'm wrong though, because if such events play out, it would be a disaster. I hope we don't give away guys like Flowers and Hudson for Rentals. IMO were not good enough to win the World Series this year, and it's not worth giving up our future to lose in the first round.
  5. I always look forward to the Futures game, would suck to see it get rained out. They just had an update and it sounded like they would get it in though.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Do you send Gavin out for the 8th? Only at 94 pitches. And he's been pretty good outside of two pitches to Crede. Yes, especially with how much the pen has been used the last couple of days.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) its just so stupid that it determines home field advantage......interleague record should determine that I actually like the fact that it determines home field, just don't like the fact that fans choose the starters.
  8. Nelson Cruz's numbers away from Arlington-.241/.278/.518
  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) Rockies considering trading Garrett Atkins for David Weathers and Carlos Gonzalez for Freddy Sanchez. I guess in comparison, the Allen/Pena deal isn't so bad if the Rockies made those moves. The Rockies would be retarded to make those moves.
  10. The problem with the Swisher trade is that we traded him at his lowest possible value. We trade DLS, Gio, and Sweeney for him than trade him for nothing a year later. He's not a great player, but it was stupid to trade him at his lowest value getting nothing in return.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) See that piece of garbage that just gave up all those runs in tonight's game? The Indians gave up a PROVEN MLB player that plays multiple positions and has hit everywhere he's been for him, and we are pissed at moving Brandon Allen? There is some serious delusion on this board if you think adding another meh prospect to a group of meh prospects was going to net you an elite or even a great player. Pena slots directly into the 7th or 8th inning next year and gets to work with one of the best pitching coaches in the game. Good deal, but all in all nothing really that should warrant more than 5 pages on this board. I would rather have Chris Perez than Tony Pena, he's younger and has more upside. Plus supposedly the PTBNL in that deal is somebody good.
  12. Don't like the trade. Relievers are always overvalued, and Pena has been mediocre the last two years. Too steep of a price to pay
  13. I still think the Reds will make a run, they just need to get healthy. Votto is back, Encarnacion is back, they just need Volquez now. Hopefully Homer Bailey will keep pitching like he did Friday night. He's always had the talent, and supposedly he just added a splitter that has really been helping him.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) That's cause he's pitching in the NL. My basis for saying he looked crappy was that he got hit pretty hard by the Cubs that first inning. Sooner or later, he's gonna revert back to his old self. If you remember, he was really good before June last season. Wouldn't suprise me at all if Javy kept this up, he's in a contract year. Some team will give him a huge payday in the offseason and he'll dissapoint them for 4-5 years.
  15. Cubs sweep a horrible Cleveland team. I have a feeling they will fall back to earth the next few days though. They go down to Atlanta for a makeup tomorrow where they face Javy, and head Detroit where they will see Jackson and Porcello.
  16. California Florida Arizona Maine
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) We may not like it but we're going to need him to work things out somehow, and the only way that's happening is on the mound unless he's actually hurt. Let's just hope Ozzie doesn't let him "work things out" in close games.
  18. Linebrink is the last guy I want on the mound in a close team. I'm not sure why Poreda is even on the team right now.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) That's when Nix was getting a lot more playing time. Only thing we have close to a decent defensive infielder not named Paul Konerko. Ramirez is a decent defensive SS.
