  1. Randy Wells dominating again, even though it's against an AAA lineup. What the hell is it with the Cubs and these career minor leaguers who come up to the majors and do so good? Wells, Fox, Soto have are all older players who were never really prospects (Soto wasn't until his monster year in Iowa two seasons ago).
  2. I know he's been great, but I'm not sure how I feel about bringing Pods back next year. I just don't want to take the chance of him going back to his 2006-2008 form. He only hit .267 in July, so his average could very well be on its way down, plus he's been caught stealing an awful lot.
  3. No First of all, we have Flowers. Second, IF he leaves Minnesota, the Sox won't be able to outbid the Yankees and Red Sox.
  4. And Lee promptly hits a homer to put the Cubs on top. At least Florida has a decent chance to score with the Cubs bullpen.
  5. Haven't had time to read through this thread yet, and I'm sure the stuff I'm going to say has already been mentioned. I like the deal, we didn't give up any great prospects. I'm not a big Poreda fan, as I think he ends up as a reliever. The guy with the highest upside is Carter and he's in Low A. Richard is a #3 at best and Russell is garbage. I love the fact that we didn't give up Flowers, Jordan Danks, Viciedo, or Hudson.
  6. I love Buehrle, but hes not a hall of famer. He'll never go down as a dominant pitcher of this generation. His career will go down a lot like Andy Petitte or Cone, who aren't Hall of Famers.
  7. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) I don't think you make those decisions based on schedule. I would hate to see us give up prospects if we are 4-5 games out. I wonder what kind of return we could get for Dye considering what STL got for Holliday.
  8. Fathom's mentioned it, if the Sox lose tomorrow they have to seriously consider becoming sellers with MIN, NYY, and BOS coming up.
  9. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/268591.html He's No. 1 on BA's prospect hot sheet.
  10. Used to watch ESPN all the time, not anymore. Their host suck, their analysts suck, the shows suck. During baseball season I watch MLB network, during football season I watch NFL network.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) - Dennis Martinez Perfect Game against the Dodgers - Mark Langston and Mike Witt Combined No Hitter - Tony Gwynn 3000th hit - Rickey Henderson 3000th hit - Rickey Henderson breaking the all time run record - Barry Bonds hitting the HR to tie Hank Aaron on the all time list - Last strikeout of Nolan Ryan's career - All 3 ALCS Games in Anaheim (Sox sweep and clinch to go to the World Series in the final of the 3 games). Wow, you've been to some great games. Mine- 1. Buehrle 2007 no-hitter 2. Frank's first game back in 2006 3. Dye walk-off homer against LAA in 2005 4. Sox at NYY in 2005. They lost, but it was the game when Rowand made those two great catches and Pods made the catch and was punched by a fan.
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:53 AM) I doubt Schaffer is on their untouchable list, at least not anymore. I would love to get Schafer.
  13. Some of it is part of the NL/park, but I think he has figured it out. He's always had the talent, can't say I'm too surpised.
  14. Some guy in Jim Callis' chat said the Sox and Boston discussed a Beckham for Buchholz trade, but didn't have a source and I can't find it anywhere so take it for what it's worth. I wouldn't trade Beckham for Buchholz, but I would certainly be willing to trade Ramirez for him if Boston was interested.
  15. The only teams I really despise are the Cubs and Yankees. I root against our division rivals obviously, but I would have no problem pulling for Detroit or Minnesota in the playoffs.
  16. 1. There is no god, the bible is full of lies. 2. I have no problem with more strict DUI laws, but the limit should be more than .08. You shouldn't get a DUI for having two beers. Talking on a cell, phone, texting, reading, etc. while driving are a lot worse than having two beers and getting behind the wheel. I also think that there should be a breathalyzer attached to your keys and you have to blow into it before your car starts. 3. Pete Rose shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame, same with Shoeless Joe. 5. Albert Pujols is/was on steroids. 6. Megan Fox is overrated.
  17. If you get a chance to see the Rickey Henderson documentary on MLBN, watch it. It was great and I'm sure they'll show it again.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) Cox...when you get 2 runners in a row thrown out at the plate, that's a fail. You can't blame him for sending Getz with Wise on deck
  19. If the Red Sox are smart they'll keep Buchholz in the rotation the rest of the season. I would much rather have him than Penny or Smoltz.
  20. http://www.battingstanceguy.com/2008/10/10/white-sox If anybody hasn't seen this guy you have to check it out. He basically just mimics batting stances and does a great job. Here is the video of current and past Sox players.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) The Tigers, reportedly, have nixed trading Porcello/Perry for Halladay. I wouldn't even do that if I were the Jays. I think Porcello has a chance to be a good pitcher, but I don't think he'll ever be great. IMO he's a #2 at best.
