  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) His swing is like 5 parts right now...I can't believe they continue to let him try this terrible approach. Everything is flailing every possible direction. Definitely. Every at bat is very awkward and mechanical looking. He has a Fukudome-like bailing movement with his front foot that gives him no chance at all to do anything productive.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Wow Becks, this is not your day... correction, this is not your year. His strikeout swing looks like he is bailing in an effort to get back to the dugout quickly.
  3. BTW, how the hell did Carlos Gomez ever do so much damage against the Sox? He looks awful right now and is not too well liked in Milwaukee.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) I don't know if his bat is effecting his glove or what, but there has been 3 balls hit in Beckham's vicinity today, and he should have made at least 2 of the 3 plays, and he hasn't made a single one. And Quentin's gotta make that throw. If he throws it anywhere near home plate, he's got the out. Well, if his defense starts to slump, it could be the ticket out that many have been clamoring for. That is one thing Ozzie really does not tolerate.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) haha, rios owns glaus, can we escape with no damage!? nope
  6. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I really doubt that there was no interest in AJ at all.. and even so, there would be more interest in July than there is in late May The 10/5 rights are the issue now, though.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) What? Tuttle wasn't invented. He died in a mine field bring help to orphans! "In a way, you could say that each and every one of us made up Tuttle" QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I'm still trying to grasp the fact that Bren is a real person...and female. We've all been fooled by someone on the internet before claiming to be female. I told her a while back after she wrote something that I'd just seen a UFO, she couldn't possibly exist. I didn't know there were women who were this passionate about baseball, and not because of her relationship with Chase. Everytime I see her picture, I think "that's got to be some creepy, hairy dude who's about to post pictures of his junk, not a real lady." Good point. We can easily find proof of Chase Blackwood's existence, but a woman who likes baseball and is willing to share actual information and photos of herself (and family members) makes this thread far more unbelievable. Between her and greg775's posts, I am not sure anyone or thing on this site is legitimate anymore.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) Squert are you personally offended we only won 1-0? Did you watch the entire game and sob because we didn't score 4-5? Our lineup has sucked with Paulie and Rios in it as well. Were you so convinced we were going to win 8-0 with Rios and Paulie or one of the two you couldn't enjoy the game? I don't understand the problem here. It was a good game and the White Sox won and they won again the next day. What is the problem here? I don't get it. I am beginning to think you are Ozzie Guillen trolling SoxTalk.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) I can't blame KW for dumping Nix, but if he's bringing him up, 1 game in 5 days is unacceptable even with an offday. He could have had nearly another week in Charlotte for that time. I agree, but one small consolation prize is the availability of Viciedo to pinch hit and guard against a lefty reliever late in the game, assuming the Atlanta starters are not working on complete game shutouts against this paltry lineup.
  10. Sounds like they are talking Flowers up as trade bait.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I've never heard anyone say something bad about the architecture boat tours. The architectural cruise is one of the best options for touring in the city. The CAF also has two or three loop walking tours that are really cool. The historic (south) one starts at the Art Institute and if I recall correctly, ends near the CAF home on Michigan. They run about two hours so it is a nice midmorning walk around the loop that ends near potential lunch spots. Here is a link to their walking tours (http://caf.architecture.org/Page.aspx?pid=600). BTW, you won't be too far from the Field Museum when you finish. Also, the beach at 12th street is a great quiet alternative to the beaches further north (which could get you in trouble with the GF for staring at talent). It is a nice walk from the field museum and very tranquil for enjoying the lakefront. I love Tango Sur on Southport for steak. Another fantastic restaurant that the wife and I used to frequent in our days in the city is Maza, a lebanese spot at 2748 N. Lincoln (just south of Diversey). Enjoy your visit.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) And easy red card because he tried to spike him but the reaction was so over the top. Another reason to root against Greece. I did not realize there were many reasons to cheer against a bankrupt third world country like Greece.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) Mauer is not in the lineup today. Twins lose
  14. LOL As soon as I saw the Carmax thread, I thought of my friend was recently told by her M.D. that she has to wean herself off Carmex. I did not get the details on this issue yet, but good stuff by Steve as always. Thanks for the laugh.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Past tense? Only joking since you bagged on M*A*S*H*. I just don't do that green font stuff. I still love you.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Just hearing the theme song would make me want to shove a pencil in my eye. Wow! And I really liked you as a poster. So disappointing. I must admit, I always check to see if it is of the McLean Stevensen/Wayne Rogers/Larry Linville era or Harry Morgan/Mike Farrell/David Ogden Stiers. The originals were really funny as hell but when the camp stopped drinking and Alan Alda ran the show, it really was a different program and sucked bad. This thread can't be real, though. The fact alone that it is based on a guy named Chase Blackwood has me questioning its legitimacy.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) I have no problem with defending the players from 05. I for one didn't ever think I would see a World Series title from the Sox having been a fan since the 70's. I will cherish it always. Crede was and is one of my favorite players to watch due to his defense. That is one reason I was so disappointed in the way he handled his back problems. He began to have back problems and by poor advice from someone (runmor was his agent but that is not substantiated) went outside the organization and was treated by other health care professionals. The pain decreased but he did not take care of the cause of the problem. This is common in everyone's back problems. They hurt the pain decreases and they slack off in the rehab. The pain returns and the cycle is repeated until a major injury results. This is the most common scenario and these are the majority of patients I see. It keeps me in practice but it is a frustrating scenario to know that most of these problems could have been prevented. I don't expect the everyday person off the street to devote their lives to preventing the severe back injuries. However, as you stated, the baseball player is susceptible to these and as soon as his back started to bother him, he should have been devoted to preventing the problem from worsening. As a professional whose superb play is based on physical health I was hoping for more. All this being said, Crede is not the only ballplayer who falls in this scenario. Many others have. So I don't necessarily blame him for it but I am dissappointed in the way he handled it. I love it when you analyze.
  18. This thread reminds me of the M*A*S*H* episode when Hawkeye and Trapper invented a doctor, Captain Tuttle, just to mess with Frank and Hot Lips.
  19. I know this has been used and abused, but Bernazard for Cruz is the type of scenario I see working this year more than a farm system for Fielder type trade. If there is a trade to be made that will change the makeup of the team and improve its all around approach, it will involve moving Alexei or CQ. That is a gamble that I think is worth taking, especially if sent to the NL. I have given up on either of them amounting to more than they are right now and would personally drive Lexi to the airport. He really has not improved much since his rookie season.
  20. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) I'm surprised that many people there were actually paying attention to the game. Probably one person who was paying attention started booing and then others joined in. Then they said, "What are we booing about? The seagulls?" I was there and initially did a double take at the bunt attempt, but in a 1-0 game, you do anything you can to get a baserunner and try to tie it up. On a related note, Wrigley is not as big a stinky urinal as some on this board make it. I think they do the best they can with what they have and I forgot how much I missed the ease of pissing in a trough like at old comiskey However, nearly 15 years since my last visit and a lot of mellowing on the whole Cubs-Sox thing, I must say it is one big uncomfortable fire trap. The rows are on top of each other and I can not understand why so many of the fans there constantly get up and down during the game. What's worse is they do it in the middle of the inning. There is very little incline to the sections so even when someone several rows down from you gets up, there is a decent chance your view of the game will be blocked for a bit. Like old Comiskey, the posts and overhangs can obstruct your view from the 200 section quite a bit as well, but it is understandable. Also, getting in and out of there is a real test to ones patience. I would say it is just because it was Cubs-Sox, but based on their attendance figures, I assume it is a pretty standard experience. Lots of nice looking tail, though.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) I will be there tonight. Even though both teams kinda suck, still have to love Cubs/Sox in prime time on ESPN. Of course, there will be a certain shiny cup there as well. I am jealous I will not be there to see the BP Cup.
  22. Please respond fast. The cutoff to forward via email is 2 hours before game.
  23. Can't use my seats today. Send your email address and I will forward tickets. Thanks.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) btw, inebriation station is a winner I thought he was just Japanese.
