  1. QUOTE(T R U @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Yeah since McCarthy and his 5.48 ERA are doin sooo much better than Garland I'm not sure if anyone pointed this out, but quite a few of B-Mac's Earned Runs came when Ozzie pulled him off with runners on and Boone Logan (I believe it was Boone) let everyone go, thus putting the runs on B-Mac's shoulders.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ May 22, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Bashed the fans... something Frank has never done. What did he say?
  3. I think it's incredible that Garcia's lowered his ERA from s***tastic to 3.92 this season, and so soon. Ultimately, I think whoever gets more for us in a trade, Garcia or Garland, is a better choice to deal. I don't think Vazquez, Contreras or Buehrle are going anywhere.
  4. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Couldn't they decide after viewing tape he should be suspended and was worthy of an ejection, the way they can in the NBA deciding whether a foul warrents a technical or not, or if someones actions are worthy of flagerant foul points, etc.? I'm not a guide on the rule book, of course, but that's what the announcers said yesterday: that they can only be suspended if the umpires eject them. Perhaps that's wrong or incomplete, but that's all I know.
  5. Personally, I thought Contreras should've been left in.
  6. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) This is how Uribe has always been, he plays like they just plucked him out of the wild to play baseball. How long to Oswaldo Guillen feels the same way? A couple of things with that: one, Ozzie is known for being patient with his hitters since he, for one, never set the world on fire offensively (although his self-depreciating comments about himself ARE a tad excessive). For another, he was with Robin Ventura when he started his season like Podsednik started this one. Guillen was kind to Dye. He'll be kind to Anderson. And our team's going to be better for it. Additionally, Williams told Guillen, from what I've read when he traded for him, that Ozzie will "love the way Uribe plays." The way Uribe plays, at least defensively, is what'll keep him in Ozzie's heart and, more importantly, line up. Maybe Guillen will bench him a bit more, but I don't think we'll see him replaced by Cintron.
  7. I hate "unwritten laws/rules" and "guy codes" and all that bulls***, personally.
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Anderson will probably get 5 or so. I wouldn't be surprised if Podsednik got like 2 or something. He can't because he wasn't ejected.
  9. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) So let me get this right. You want to be a jackass, fair weather, dumbass who likes to play both sides depending on whose doing better in the standings? :banghead :banghead I don't think he mentioned John Kerry.
  10. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) Why Hawk even bothers to read Moronotti is beside me. They should just slug it out. I'm one of the few people here who likes Mariotti more than Hawk. Mariotti's style is actually pretty nice, and the one I want to emualte, just the content is bad. Hawk is just very annoying on the air. To me, Hawk is like a Carnie and Mariotti is a sleazy used car salesman. Mariotti grates on me more, but I don't care for Hawk, either.
  11. The answer, of course, is to GO UNDEFEATED!
  12. Yeah, I can't see him holding up in the Majors this year, personally. I hope I'm wrong, though.
  13. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ May 21, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) The suspension system in MLB seems to be extremely lax. Players can choose when they serve their suspension? What's up with that? Really?
  14. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ May 21, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) Wow, did not know this. Did Contreras run out on the field yesterday? As of yesterday, he was still on the DL... Yeah, actually, I think he did.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) Another difference between Frank and Thome was that Frank was booed when he played here. I'll be there tomorrow and will clap respectfully, like a golf tournament clap, if they have a ceremony and before his first at bat. After that I will be silent. Some of his parting comments touched a nerve with me, and frankly at this point I see him as a selfish egotistical washed up jerk. Yeah, actually, I think that's the way I look at it, too. I'm not going to cheer, but I will applaud him. I know it's a nuance, but it's the difference between love and admiration, IMO. I'll bet you don't.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) His d has been average at best the last 3 weeks. He often makes a lot of lazy throws to first that Konerko has to scoop up. Yeah, he can still make the occasional spectacular play. But his d is not on par with last year. I think that's a faulty way of looking at it, and I'm not so sure it's fair to categorize his throws as "lazy," either. But to each his own, and if that's your opinion... All I know is that, when the ball is in play, Uribe is the guy I trust most to get the out. Crede and Anderson next.
  17. I am sorry to not meet your request, but I had a suggestion. Perhaps "applause" should be added to the list?
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) And some of you wonder why people don't respect Sox fans. People don't respect Sox fans for a lot of reasons. "Sox Fans Critical of Thomas For Bashing Williams, Always Getting Injured, Fighting Robin Ventura, Coming off as a 'Me Player' at times, Having Poor Diction" has little to do with it. The biggest reason probably has to do with a lack of attendance at games and people from Alsip Illinois who like to run onto the field and attack managers. That aside, I'm going to the game and I'll applaud Frank, for sure. I don't think much of him the person -- he's no Thome, or Ventura, that's for sure -- but he is one of the better players we've ever had. (I'm not as willing as some of you to declare him better than Shoeless Joe, amongst others, but he is right up there.)
  19. I thought Hawk sounded like a jackass, myself. He was rambling. It reminded me of listening to a drunk after he came back from fishing: "I tell you, it was the biggest fish I ever did see!" or like George Bush talking about his best moment as President. (If you call, he claimed it was catching a fish nearly twice as big as the biggest ever caught on the record of that species.( Mariotti's column is absurd, sure, but Hawk was sputtering and seemed totally incoherent in his rant. The only thing that came out being clear in that segment was that a "hineybird" is a bird that winds up flying up its own ass.
  20. I think anyone who talks about Uribe "making bad plays" in the field is talking nonsense. I haven't seen much "s***ty" defense from him. I think you're talking out of your ass if you're talking about him making bad defensive plays. Uribe is with the White Sox because he has a cannon and makes Shortstop look easy. I can recall several good plays he's made at the hole this year. Broken bat flying at him, anyone? I didn't get to watch past Contreras getting pulled today, so I can't attest for the whole game, but I can't quite recall Uribe making a poor defensive play this year, much less several. I do know that Crede bobbled a ball today -- maybe we should crucify him, too? Like Podsednik a few weeks ago, and as some of you would do to Anderson. Uribe's bat is another story, but his defense is why he plays the games and Cintron sits on the bench.
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 20, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) ITS PERSONAL NOW, THROW AT SOMEONES HEAD FRED I'm all for it in principle, and I think Freddy would be, too. If I recall, last year Garcia had no problem beaning Derek Lee as revenge. Except that I'm not for giving McCarthy another spot start (we need him in the pen) and I don't want to see Haeger or Redding brought up because Freddy gets suspended.
