QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) Snodgress no-hitter thru 6. Semien 2 homers. I've been looking around for some comparable performances from a plate discipline stand point to Semien and I'm having some trouble find people. Ben Zobrist comes to mind all though Zobrist was 25 at AA and Marcus is only 22 this image is coming into this game.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 10:01 AM) Or Chris Owings. Can't wrong with either. Preferably both but let's not get greedy owings strikes me more as a bench player, his k/bb rate is pretty bad and his minor league babip avg is .357, this season its .418. Just for reference Ichiro's career BABIP is .345 If we're trading with AZ I want Eaton and davidson coming back -
I do believe we will see Semien make fangraphs fringe 5 again, tonight he is 0/1 with 2 BB. I would love to see him pushed up to AAA in the near future and make an appearance at the AFL. We could have a great looking top of the order hitter in him and he is age appropriate, question is can he handle SS? I see he is playing 3B tonight. Lastly his BABIP(.299) is 18 points below his career average. Marcus is hitting .268 down at AA and holding his own.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Come on AZ! Give us Owings and Holmberg I want Eaton and Davidson, sox have some interesting MI prospects half a season to a season away.(sanchez, semien and johnson) -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) You can't call a guy up after only 2 good months in the minors. I still thought they were taking a chance with how early they called him up, we'll see what happens as pitchers adapt. as it stands now his problems appear to be the same as most young ML hitters, low and away and throat high.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) So can we all just call Phegley the Fire Hydrant? It's what he is built like. I like TJP in honor of TCQ's stance and the fact we still have Jake Peavy on the team

phelgey!!! reminds me so much TCQ

I think once we sell off we wrap of that #1 pick, the season will no longer be about winning games but player development at the major league level.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Marty if this happens it will be a really fun two weeks. I am completely on board with trading Addison Reed. I like Reed a lot, but if they can get a great return for him they have to do it. If the White Sox trust their scouting then they may think that they can use Daniel Webb or Petricka as the closer at some point. I am always a fan of selling high on young closers. I'm of the same mindset, We should be moving through everyone in our bullpen sans jones. I'm confident in the sox ability to develop pitching its major league hitters that have been our bane.

Trade value going up Rios!!!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) You want Ventura gone after one season where the players haven't played very well, especially on defense, but you were just fine with Ozzie allowing that kind of s*** for the last 3 years of his tenure. Gotcha. Anyways, no, if the Sox were to trade Rios and Ramirez and added no money, they wouldn't bring back a big return. The Sox don't necessarily need to free up payroll for any number of reasons, so they may kick in half of the money for the contracts or so to bring back better prospects, thus their value would be approximately $24 million, which is worth quite a bit. Agreed if the sox kick in serious money and Ramirez and Rios head over to the pirates this is the type of return I would love to see: Gregory Polanco - If the sox are kicking in serious $$ he better be coming back. He looks the part of a potential 5 tool talent that can handle CF, He just transitioned to AA so if the sox aquire him i wouldn't expect to see him at earliest june/july of next year more probably a sept. call up and starting in '15 Tyler Glasnow - This kid is on some major helium, one of those high school arms with the tag projectability written all over their scouting report that is actually taking his raw tools and turing them into skills, far enough away in a deep pirate system that they could move him. Jin-De Jhang - Gives us a good looking catching prospect a bit away, while we find out what we have in Phegley and Flowers. Andrew Lambo - Could very well a potent OF bat, He was once the top prospect in the dodgers system and lost a lot of his shine; he isn't going to get his shot on the pirates and he is still age appropriate for AAA. He would come up immediately and take over for Rios. So far at AAA he is putting up this line .279/.356/.574 with 9HR(23 on the year). Victor Black - former 1st round pick had some injury issues and got pushed into the bullpen but has taken well to the role, looks to be a future set up man sitting in AAA again a piece a contending team doesn't have time to develop at the major league level.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) Just what Dick Allen is saying. It doesn't make much sense to move these two guys if the Sox have to pay that kind of money to get rid of them. Like that analysis said, they have no value. No, it says they have value but if the sox expect to get premium talent they're going to have to kick in some $$ and thats $4M in surplus value as in making them worth their contract +4M

Here is an interesting take on both alexei and rios from http://www.piratesprospects.com TLDR:
-
I would love to see Polanco, Eaton, Owings and Castellanos. Sox would be well served burning down the majority of the major league roster and trading Reed. The white sox have a propensity of developing pitchers for every role and Webb appears to be the heir apparent to Reed. If 2014 is the outside shot at the second wild card and '15 is the year we make a push back to the top of the division Reed would still be under our control but it serves no purpose to have a "proven" closer on a rebuilding team when he can bring back so much, especially from a division rival.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 11:54 PM) Rios and Alexei for Polanco, Hanson, Kingham and Herrera? Does that seem like a steep price? I'm salivating at the possibility of Rios, Ramirez and possibly throwing Lindstrom and some $ bringing back premium talent. I would love to see Polanco, Hanson, Glasnow or Kingham and Jhang coming back. Polanco could get a call up mid next season (after super two passes) and Hanson, Glasnow or Kingham supplement us going forward as well as adding legitiment talent in Jhang behind the dish, while the sox figure out what they have in Phegley/Flowers.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) Rios has a reasonable 2015 option, and with the pitching the Sox have it's not out of the question that he could be a significant contributor on a contending team in 2015, so I'm in ho hurry to dump him just to dump him. If Hahn doesn't get a premium haul for him by the end of July, then hang on to him and maybe a better deal is there in December and if not I'm not going to complain if he's still with the Sox in April. I agree if we can't get premium talent for him don't dump him to dump him, there is plenty of money coming off the books and Thompson is still a half a year away it appears.

I realize its his farewell tour and all but its just so f***ing forced, white sox bias aside Sale should've won the MVP...
