Nice play by Conor over at the hot corner.

Konerko looks like hot garbage at the plate.

So glad McCarver is retiring soon.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) Another Gillaspie RBI for Greg775. Off a tough lefty, too. Someone made a Michael Cuddyer comp the other day, that would be incredible (and Cuddyer never played 3B well enough to stick there full-time), having to play LF/RF/1B/DH in the later part of his Twins' career. I made that comp and I feel its appropriate, based off what i've seen I think its possible for Conor to eventually have a season or two where he hits 20+ like cuddyer but i think at our ball park he will fall into a 12-15 HR a year. Also your right i think Conor has the tools to stick at 3B based off this small sample size. I like his swagger even if it rubbed the giants the wrong way. I think in the coming weeks we should start a ROY tracker for him he could be a dark horse. Most of the top prospects in the AL on the cusp are having a down{profar and olt} or mediocre{myers} year so far on the farm or they're injured{bundy}.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2013 -> 05:26 PM) My piece for today is a quick look around the minors -- for those who follow closely, nothing revelatory. If not, can be useful to get up to speed on a few guys. White Sox Minor League Update Its been a few years since i truly followed the minors and made a trek down too west tenn. In your opinion whom would you compare Micah Johnson and Marcus Semien too?

a real workman like outing for Q. I love watching every PA that Gillaspie has. I seriously think he could become a LH version of Michael Cuddyer solid 770-800+ OPS 3B. for his Age 25 season thus far he seeing a similar amount of pitches per at bat 3.72 vs Cuddyer's 3.75. This is Cuddyer's age 25 season in '05 .263/.330/.422 - .752 12HR 41BB/93K This is Gillaspies's age 25 season projected .294/.360/.451 - .811 12HR 46BB/104K

Beckham out 6-8 weeks with fractured hamate bone

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 06:31 AM) I think this is Gillaspie's big shot here. He's looked pretty good so far. If he gets the majority of the time when Beckham's out and continues to hit well, a tough decision will have to be made when Beckham comes back. Beckham getting "wally pipped" -
Nice piece of hitting from Conor

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) I'd say no Sanchez. This is Gillaspie's big shot. I agree maybe, just maybe he can be what Morel was supposed to be, 280/340/420 with 12-15HR with solid defense. I for one say give him his chance, in 7 games down at AAA Sanchez hasn't done anything to force the sox hand and Conor is still relatively young, sox might have something here. -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) So I made this pic. If it offends you, you are a crappy fan. Go Sox. Agreed I went to all three of the royals series and i got tickets for section 146 row 10 for $12.50 a piece for game two and similar tickets for game 3. I paid $46 for opening day but i expected that.

6 games into the season and I like Gordon's approach at the plate even with the strike out today, Rios picking up where he left off and the BP has been impressive.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) That fastball was remarkably slow today. Worrisomely slow. Would you say $175-million worrisome?

It appears that Felix is going to go the way of his idol (freddy garica), thats alot off his fastball. As a M's fan i would be concerned

big fan of this deal, Hahn has now given himself a very good looking core to carry forward with Sale, Peavy and Danks, with some exciting options in Q and Santiago to be further tested; just need another solid RH imho to fill out the rotation going forward.

I'm really interested in seeing what the Angels do now. Wells and his remaining 42mil is not going anywhere so i would think he would act as the 4th OFer and DH. I think they move the following to fill out their rotation: one of Trumbo/Bourjos, Morales and Conger as well as some prospects since they're "all in". I imagine both the mets and sox profile well as partners. We could afford to move Floyd and Thornton and the Mets can move Dickey to get some ml ready talent. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 05:15 AM) People put way too much stock into prosepects. KC's prospects don't exactly light things up. Good trade for them to get a top of the line starter. Who cares about 2014 and beyond? Hopefully Shields is miserable there and tanks....sorry, Mileage. While i agree people do put too much stock into prospects lets take a look at this list shall we? Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year '12 Wil Myers - TBD '11 Mike Trout - if he can stay healthy he could be something very special '10 Jeremy Hellickson - 123ERA+ this pas season and only 25 '09 Jason Heyward - healthy and only 22 years old same caveats as trout '08 Matt Wieters - an above average contributor '07 Jay Bruce - "" feel free to go down the list everyone one on their has been a solid to well above average contributor at the major league level since 1990 Personally i think Myers profiles similar to Jay Bruce and Ryan Braun. Myers coupled with Odorizzi already producing in the show and capable of being a rock solid #3 + 13m this year and the upside of the other two prospects makes this deal look amazing for the rays. -

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) BREAKING: Royals acquire James Shields and Wade Davis from TB for Wil Myers and other prospects. Everything has to break right for the royals to contend in '13 & '14 not impossible seeing how both the sox and o's came relatively out of nowhere, but after '14 this trade is going to cut deep. The rays just continue to do what they do they're going to continue to be fun to watch for a long time. I would love to see the rays deal off a bit more depth to the angels for Conger and Morales, LAA still has 42m remaining on Wells and he is now blocked across the OF so DHing/4th OFing wouldn't be the worst or Cincinnati for Mesoraco and Neftali Soto, Soto is a buy low candidate but just a year ago he had a monster break out and hes blocked well into the 2020s. Myers could break camp with the Rays if he chooses to go with Moore/Longoria route or they will wait till super 2 passes and bring him up. Also would I not be surprised in the least to see the Rays bring in a DH platoon maybe both Ibanez and Thome for something like 2.5m total, they've got 13m to now play with this offseason. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) $15 million a year for Upton is a little excessive. I'd think $12 million a year is more than enough for a player like him. Just goes to show how movable that Rios contract is right now. With all the influx of $ coming in from tv contracts specifically the espn deal brining in $25m to each teams coffers. Rios's contract looks very good if he can continue to be a 3WAR player. I hope he has finally figured it out and continue this type of production for the remainder of his contract 12.5 this year and next, and 13.5 or a 1m buy out for his age 34 season in 2015.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) 4 out of 6 years with an OPS of .866 or better and a career OPS in the minors of .876 along with a second half OPS .840 (even in very limited plate appearances) tells me that they need to give the guy a shot. Bring in a good veteran backstop who you know will work well with the pitching staff as an insurance policy and consider the catching situation taken care of. At some point, the guy's going to have to sink or swim. I agree give him a fair shake behind the dish; his second half was very encouraging from Jul 3, 2012 to Oct 2, 2012 he put up this line .244/.326/.476 .802OPS his babip was reasonable at .326. His season pace at that rate looks like this 28HR, 44BB/168SO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/mlb-dav...tension-112612- I wonder what it would take to trade for wright; he's 29 soon to be 30 and has one year and 16m coming to him in '13, I can see him getting 7/130. I feel bad for mets fans they need to blow it up and rebuild. Next time they have home grown talent like reyes and wright they should lock them up for considerably longer and earlier.
