  1. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) sizemore's dropped ball didn't do anything. this team played better when there was no pressure. when they won the division. up until that point they were tight enough to turn a coal to a diamond. Uh, there was less pressure when the Indians started losing, and that started with Sizemore dropping that ball. It doesn't matter. Turn the page, right?
  2. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) just think. we need one thing to bring this whole season together. we'll hit a stretch and destroy that cloud and win it all Yeah, like a well-pitched series of games (like, say, 3 in a row). Or some break to get this team out of its funk. Because, if you haven't noticed, our guys look like they're dead out there (seen Podsednik's face lately? Konerko's?). Just like they looked until Sizemore dropped that ball last year.
  3. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) This season is done in my view... Liriano is due to pitch a minor league rehab start later this week...when he joins the Twins they will take control of the WC race. We have to be honest, the team isn't good enough this year. We are still 05 Champions. I don't know about the Liriano thing -- sometimes guys come back, feel healthy and just aren't the same anyway (Contreras for one). But I do agree that this team is in deep trouble. My concern is that there's a cloud over this team. And it's the same cloud that came over this group last September. That crew came out of it because (1) we got good pitching in a series at home against Minnesota (including McCarthy); and (2) Grady Sizemore lost a ball in the sun in Kansas City. I'm looking for some such event now, because we need it. As for today, add Carlos Pena to the Melky Cabrera Society. Travis Hafner is a charter member. In other words, McCarthy's made a real habit of low fastballs to lefties being deposited in the right field stands. I stll say that he's been misused all year long, and the stubborness in that regard is maddening. But I'm just tired of talking about it, as many others here are. And the fact that Vazquez pitches tomorrow will be salt in the wounds, at least for me. This year has been mismanaged -- with reputation, salary and preserving trade value being the important factors, apparently -- from the start. It's ridiculous. We're lucky to be where we are. And where we are is headed down.
  4. Our team looks totally and completely gassed.
  5. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) They will likely move Sweeney to the outfield. Even though he came in for Thome, he can still mvoe to the OF and remain in the same position. My guess is Gload will become the DH. No, then you lose the DH.
  6. Get ready for the Podsednik, Mackowiak, Gload outfield.
  7. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) I wonder what our hitters are thinking in the dugout? "We're glad that 5-time Cy Young winner Julian Tavarez is out of the game."
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Anyone know what number Ryan wore in the minors? 36 aint doing it for me. My same thought. That's a middle-relievers number. Well, come to think of it, maybe Sweeney could give us a few innings from time to time.
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) We better win this game. Garland worked too hard and pitched too good to not get a win for this game. anyone else think JT looks badass with that new gotee? I think he looks badass when he homers and walks in the same game.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) He called Hawk's son an asshole. Shoota's dream cage match: Hawk Harrelson's son vs Christine O'Reilly Yeah, okay, I saw that. I take it that Shoota has used that epithet freely?
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Another solid job by MacD boy, looking at Hawks son, i would check the milkmen and mailmen in my neighborhood I said it before: he looks like D.J. This raises troubling possibilities.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Add another person to shoota's hit list. Uh-oh. What did I miss here?
  13. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Uh, I just started watching the game, who is the asshole playing with his cellphone in the booth with Hawk and DJ? Also goes by the name of Hawk's son.
  14. Anyone see the babe up dancing behind the plate?
  15. AJ with the double play, but going the other way hard. Maybe a good sign.
  16. Good thing A.J. wears a mask when he catches.
  17. It's Hawk's birthday, causing D.J. to sing. Now they show Hawk's son in the booth. Is it me, or does he look like D.J.?
  18. Generous call on 1-1 pitch to Youkilis. Thank you.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) We look awesome so far. Indeed.
  20. QUOTE(beautox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Bright spot, Vazquez pitched well. Yeah. And the fact that he's pitched so badly lately leads us to take him out after the 6th, go to Thornton in the 7th (not the 8th). Whatever. Just aggravating as hell.
  21. This is one we'll probably be remembering on about October 1. Lucky to win 2 of 3. On to Kansas City. Crap.
  22. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) It's not that I do want to give up BMAC, but according to quite a few people on here, BMAC is our future CY. That my friend will not be happening! When I see him pitch, he just look averaged to me. I trade BMAC for Liriano or Verlander in an 1/10000000000th of a heartbeat! The man should be starting. Starting.
