  1. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) emil brown leadoff double off of santana...moved to third on a grounder by shealy....get him in john buck... Today I love those guys. Tomorrow I will loathe them. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) I think Pods should get 1/4 RBI there for not striking out and at least putting wood on the ball
  2. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) I think it is time to pull the plug on Pods...he is utterly worthless out there. Well, the good thing about Pods is the consistently upbeat mental approach. I never get the sense that he gets into funks.
  3. Pods shrewdly moves the runner with a 14-bouncer to 2nd.
  4. Note to file: my preseason prediction for Brian's average was .237. Perhaps he will surpass that.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) anyone have a breakdown of his 2nd half numbers? It's a complete 180 in his approach at the plate. last night when he fell down 0-2 with the runner on 2nd he did an excellent job of getting him over. I think of it more as a complete 540.
  6. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Particularly to his right. I meant to his left. To our right. Either way.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) He's got a couple of nice plays, but i think that's a real stretch, his range isn't that great. Particularly to his right.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) Is it past 75 pitches already? Welcome, SSI-71. It seems that, for both of us, Javy's appearances are appointment-viewing.
  9. QUOTE(beautox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) well seeing how Cotts has been "teh sux" lately, and Boone is deing really well down at AAA as their closer i want to know if he could take his spot, if cotts can't turn it around. If we were to make the playoffs, with Owens being on his "rehab assignment", I think the deal was that that preserved a roster spot for someone not on the 25-man at midnight tonight -- not just Owens -- if we wanted to add someone. I don't understand why it works that way, but that was my understanding. Am I right? We'd have to drop someone, of course.
  10. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) yeah he does...its his best pitch...i hope he uses it like he did against toronto that one time I remember that time.
  11. I think Ross would've been safe there if he hadn't rounded second base half-way into left field. Still, I think you send him there. I'm okay with it.
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) And you all know what's best about tomorrows game? Mark Buehrle is the pitcher responsible for avoiding a sweed, avoiding a 2/12 game deficit in the Wild Card, and avoiding an EMBARRASING three game sweep at home during a crucial stretch of baseball. Knowing how these games have progressed, I'm sre a loss will occur in the most excruciating way possible. Who knows? Maybe the Tigers are in free-fall. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Who knows? Maybe the Tigers are in free-fall. I know. I'm grasping.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Dont worry, Bmac will pitch again around the 8th of September. His pitching staff is fine, bmac sucks and should be inserted over his vet staff. And Mack will play only when a right pitches, or when a tough lefty that Brian may have a problem with. Like Neal Cotts?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Bmac went 5.1 innings and gave up only one run. He obviously isnt stretched out enough to start. And is bad according to our manager. Yeah, but he gave up a home run to Hunter, right? See, it was right to bring in Cotts and Riske last night. Whew. For about a day there, I thought Ozzie had lost his touch with the pitching staff. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Rotoworld take on the Count. Jose Contreras was pulled after 2 2/3 innings having allowed five runs Saturday in a no-decision versus the Twins. We have to take issue with manager Ozzie Guillen's decision to play Rob Mackowiak in center field tonight. Left-handed hitters have hit Johan Santana better than right-handers this season, but Mackowiak hardly ever gets to face lefties and he's a big defensive downgrade from Brian Anderson. While Contreras was in the game, there were two balls hit over Mackowiak's head that Anderson might have had plays on. Contreras wasn't going to outpitch Johan Santana either way, but he could have lasted longer with better defense tonight. Rotoworld is written by Terry Bevington, right? I'd say Ozzie's late to the party.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) He must practice Tai Chi. Misdirection. The poop right in front of you doesnt stink as bad as your neighbors poop, Now that is stinky poop, thank god you dont have that poop. Not only that, but your poop will probably even smell better tomorrow. So don't worry so much about it.
  16. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) Not. Contreras was brutal. Jose's back to his early 2005 form. Fear not. I am quite sure, no matter the cause, that COOP WILL FIX IT
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Well Anderson was put in later in the game, there was a rocket hit to the center field fence. He strolled back, and caught it at the top of the wall. Mack = butcher in CF Thanks, SSI-71. By the way, looks like Contreras was solid.
  18. Alright, I just got home, having been totally out of the game loop where I was. I come home, and the first highlight I see is a ball hitting the warning track in centerfield, about 2 feet over Mackowiak's head, and bouncing into the stands. Someone please tell me that Mackowiak conclusively blew 4 or 5 plays tonight, so this loss has some worth: that is, that I will never have to watch this guy out there again. Then again, I suppose that should be clear to Terry Bevington by now, and yet Ozzie insists that all is well with El Macko in centerfied. Okay, so -- at the risk of repeating -- did he screw up out there?
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) From my source who's seen Owens play a lot, he described him as a lesser hitting Willie Harris. Should be solid.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) MACK IN CF?!?!?!?! I'm not even going to rip Ozzie, the actions speaking louder than any of my words can. Wait. Isn't Anderson one of the few guys who had good swings against Santana on Sunday? If Ozzie wants to get Mack into the lineup, DH him and bench Gload. Do you think that, just maybe, the PLAYERS are starting to question Ozzie's use of Anderson and McCarthy? I mean, I have little idea of the plan here. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Btw, Anderson had the best at bats against Johan outside of Thome's HR at the game I went to, and he also had 3 good at bats and a hit against him last weeekend. But yeah, Rob has a great shot, after all he kills lefties. At least we have our best defender in there at CF though. What you said. Wow.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) Yes, Ozuna deserves to be on the playoff roster. He's a great situational hitter, can play numerous positions (not well, but at least he's an option), and is the fastest guy on the team. Sweeney is a much better player than Owens is, and if we're calling up someone to start in LF, it should be Sweeney. No question about Ozuna being on there. Maybe they see Owens as the Willie Harris addition of this year. But, as we all know, there is only Willie Harris. And he dominates regularly.
