QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) Based in the context of this current PP "controversy", I think that's exactly what he's saying, and in that context, that's why what he's saying here makes sense to me... Oh, ok. This is why I didn't understand what you were saying. I was giving Carson too much credit; I didn't realize his position was bats*** insane.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) I don't think the source matters in his explanation...it's how it was acquired by that source. One source can acquire tissue in a way he finds legit, and in a way he finds immoral... I don't see why this is so hard to understand. ...how was the tissue in Ben Carson's study acquired in any different way? It was tissue donated from an abortion.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 06:04 AM) Why would that one issue matter? I do think he's a lock to win the nomination at least. Virtually all the Rebub candidates besides Trump are despised by the masses. That's not even close to correct. Most of the GOP candidates are simply not known by the masses. They elicit neither a strong positive nor negative reaction. Trump has name recognition, which has resulted in the most early GOP support, but he's also one of the most hated.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) I think a lot of this is coming in light of the story that PP story and he says there is a difference in using tissue donated that wasn't "harvested" for that specific purpose vs tissue that exists and it's better to perform research it than to throw it away. There's no difference at all. It's the same source. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Also, he didn't conduct the entire study we are all talking about, many people were involved and I think he's being credited with things he didn't actually perform in that experiment simply because it helps paint the picture of him the media wanted. I believe his claim is that, just because my name is on a study doesn't mean I carried out every action taken during that study. That statement is true, but if his name is on the paper, then he knew about the other parts of the study, including the use of aborted fetal tissue.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) This is what good shows do to people. We're unsure of what's actually happening, just like Elliot. Yes, but they also haven't taken the unreliable narrator too far, to the point where we have no clue wtf is going on. Good job by the writers.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) And sounds like you have equally accepted the PP version. The PP version didn't deceptively leave out the facts about how tissue donation works, and that some payment is standard. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) That's fine. But when they negotiate the pricing, that isn't 'recouping costs'. How isn't it? She asks what he's used to paying. He won't say, so she throws out a ballpark number. She says she hasn't dealt with the compensation issue in a long time and would have to check with some clinics about what they usually look for to recoup costs.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) They don't 'donate' anything, they sell it. Big difference. No, they donate it, and are allowed to charge a fee for shipping/handling/storage. This is how all medical donation works. Sounds like you just accepted the anti-PP claims at face value.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Isn't "sex addiction" not actually a recognized thing in the DSM? I have no idea. I'd tend to be skeptical of anyone claiming to have one, but IF it was legit, you'd still be responsible for getting treatment.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:05 AM) He said he loves his wife and loves his kids but he's an addict and needs to cheat. His wife is so nice. She doesn't want to leave him. The kids are so cute. It's a perfect little family. But he said he can't stop cheating. He doesn't love his wife. If he did, he'd seek treatment for the sex addiction he's claiming he has so he can stop harming his family.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) It's becoming increasingly likely that the PP issue is going to result in me getting an unplanned vacation beginning October 1. ?
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) They seem to make perfect sense to me. How so? Ben Carson is outraged that Planned Parenthood would donate aborted fetal tissue to medical researchers. Ben Carson formerly performed medical research involving donated aborted fetal tissue.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:53 AM) Just took a long walk and listened to Trump's interview with Hannity as I walked. Hmmm. Trump gave a lot of specific policy issues. -- Laughed at critics and said it would be easy, 100 percent assured, to get Mexico to pay for the wall. -- Said he'd kill Obamacare immediately. Can the next president do that? -- Repeated the bulls*** about China and bringing manufacturers back to the U.S. I still wont vote for Donnie because of the fact he makes his ties there because "it's business" when he could be a trailblazer and do the right thing and make the ties here. I wish Hannity would have grilled him on that. He merely let Trump say he'd bring manufacturing back here. -- Said he's the best candidate far and away for the economy. Said he will turn it around. Says without him, if that deficit gets much bigger, it's the end of the world as we know it. Only one of these is a specific policy issue (the wall) and it's impossible.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) 2. A couple months ago I pointed out how the Republicans wanted to take health care coverage away from 15 million+ people. You couldn't believe that anyone would that callous at the time and now you endorse that. He's not endorsing it taking away everyone's health coverage. Trump has specifically said he'd replace Obamacare with "something terrific". See? Policy done. He's going to make something terrific.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) A clerk in Kentucky is refusing same sex marriage licenses, siting her religious freedom http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_...-08-13-09-06-25 Enjoy your contempt of court charge, lady. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 06:41 AM) I doubt that to the extent because it seems like youre forgetting the show gets A-List actors and they each bring their own audience. lol You'll make any excuse. Season 2 had a ton of hype because people loved season 1 so much. People weren't tuning in to the first episode because love Kitsch/Vaughn/Farrell/McAdams.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 06:41 AM) Season 2 is the fourth most wastched season in HBO history, when the ratings for each episode where counted up. http://i.imgur.com/BDZvA1E.jpg?1 1. No, it isn't. Your image only counts one season per show. For example, Game of Thrones seasons 2,3,4,5 are all higher. So were Sopranos 1,2,3,4,5,6,6b and True Blood 2,3,4,5,6. So, not fourth place - more like 15th, and in an era with HBO is far more accessible than in the past. 2. You didn't address anything I said. TD2's viewership was owed to the success of TD1, and it dropped over the course of the season, indicating that rather than gaining fans, it was losing them.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 11:45 PM) And yet, I completely disagree with everything you said. If TDS2 were the show's first seasn it would've guaranteed a second season just based on the ratings alone. The only reason it got the ratings it did was *because of* season 1. Season 2's ratings were dropping episode-by-episode (good bump for the finale though) as season 1 loyalists gradually gave up on it.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) I assume that youre joking but in all seriousness, I actually want to work in the field and with that studio (WB) in particular and if I do something like violate an NDA and they find out and my chances with working with them are over. I don't know why you'd assume I'm joking. Most people disliked this season.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) So you weren't allowed to tell us how dull it was? lol, yeah, like anyone would have been super upset if something from that finale had been spoiled for them.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) I think it's already died down. He said he didn't mean what the deviants say he meant. And he's obviously lying. Do you not get that part? QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) He'll ultimately be thrust out of the race but not over this issue. he survived it easily. In a sense, you're right. Donald Trump could say virtually anything, no matter how stupid, dishonest, or rude, and his support would probably stay about the same. That's the benefit of appealing to idiots. Sadly for Trump, most conservatives aren't idiots and he has no chance.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 02:49 AM) Not so fast, Crimson. When you have a perfect out as he does (saying you have to be deviant to think he meant her period) people can't really call him on this anymore. I mean no candidate wants to be called a deviant perv. I don't even think you'll hear much more about that. Writers won't go there anymore cause Trump has a perfect alibi. Ditto TV announcers. lol. It's not an out - it doesn't even make sense. He's continuing to get bashed for it, and rightly so. ...and do you even know what an alibi is? QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 02:49 AM) I agree Alpha. Personally I like hearing a guy with no filter (remember I LOVED Ozzie for the same reason; I love on that HBO show when Ozzie told the Marlins closer everybody including the owner and GM wanted him replaced and Ozzie was the only one who didn't think he was horses***). I do love the no filter. Why is it a positive thing to have no tact, no class, no shame, no ability to admit you're wrong, and be a liar?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 09:09 PM) He won't apologize and has turned the Kelly controversy around perfectly saying if you think he meant Kelly having a period you are "deviant" Brilliant! It's brilliant to look like a total tool? Everyone knows he's lying.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) K, so nothing about the access to inspect every aspect of supply, the dismantling of current cores or amount of uranium, just US got pantsed and I have no alternatives but I'm certain we could have gotten a better deal but also we shouldn't negotiate with terrorist regimes and the years of 02-08 show how effective this was and all of this is very coherent, OBAMA BAD. LOVES MUSLIMS. GIVES THEM NUKES.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:56 AM) I do agree with the one candidate who said it's sad the country is mourning the death of a lion and unwilling to embrace this issue involving developing human beings bodies more deeply. Trump said he'd shut down the government rather than give Planned Parenthood any money at all because of this issue. Trump is like your really dumb relative who forwards you internet chain emails.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) That's his point. If they don't penalize pitchers for not hitting (not a requirement of the position), why should they penalize DH's for not fielding (not a requirement of the position)? A pitcher's overwhelming value is through pitching, which no position player does. The DH's duties are literally a subset of the other position players. He does less, and that has to be noted. To put it a different way: a pitcher pitches because he's awesome at pitching. A DH DHs because he sucks at defense.
