QUOTE (Cknolls @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/be...rson#.if3R84DJw Indeed. More confirmation that Ben Carson was duped by a prank, not given an honesty reward by his professor.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 05:05 PM) Irrelevant. Carson lied. You can think it is no big deal - I get that, and ultimately it probably isn't. But he did what he did. He said something patently false. Could be he remembered wrong. More likely it is just that he's got a monstrous ego (like most of these people) that naturally inflates all his accomplishments. Carson's latest lie is even funnier. He tells the story about how one of his college professors gave him $10 for being the only honest student willing to take a re-test after the initial set of tests were (not really) burned up in the fire. The truth was Carson got fooled by an article in a prank edition of the school newspaper and went to take the re-test. Hey, if you gotta lie about something, it might as well be about how honest you are!

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) I can't decide which version of Fallout 4 I should shell out for. PS4 is just easier and generally preferred but previous Fallout games have shipped borderline broken on consoles, PC is obviously superior for the FPS elements, though with the VATS system that holds less value. It's the modding that really has me torn, I know they're committed to making modding on the PS4 robust but it'll never be able to contend with the PC mod community and the modding is going to be INSANE with this game given all the new crafting elements they've added. I'M CONFUSED AND RUNNING OUT OF TIME! It's a first-person shooter. PC is the only answer.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) It was a really solid episode, just a cheap move by TWD team to place the episode where it was, based on what happened last week. It's not any more cheap than putting cliffhangers in mid-season or season finales, which is what most shows on television do.

QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) but does that take away from him??? he is still brilliant. even revolutionize some surgery and he went to nite school to get his education. i really recommend his movie that HBO did on him. but look at it this way, he is not sitting on his accomplishment to sell himself. Yeah, it takes away from him. He's not running for head of neurosurgery.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) beyond the race card, Dr. Carson is a brilliant man. Beyond neurosurgery, Dr. Carson seems to be a complete dunce.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) A "small loan" in 1968 which would be the equivalent of almost $7M today plus tons of connections in real estate. Born on third and thinks he hit a triple. It's almost as sad of a story as Mitt and Ann having to part with some of their stock portfolio to pay their college tuition. I can't even afford to put lobster in my ramen noodles anymore!

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) If it turns out to not be true (and based on a lot of internet chatter, it seems like it is not true),

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 05:26 PM) I'm curious, how old are you guys? When did you first get into the Star Wars world? Born in the early 80s. Loved the movies as a kid. Loved the videogames (like TIE Fighter) as a kid. Love the X-Wing miniatures game now.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) In early December, my wife and I along with some other couples are doing one of those touristy holiday trolley rides in Chicago. We're looking for a good place to have dinner beforehand. The tour starts and ends at the John Hancock Building. There will be 8 of us, and we'd probably be looking to eat around 4:00 - 4:30. Not looking to spend a lot of money, and we definitely wouldn't be comfortable in a fancy place anyway. Just looking for a place with good food, good drinks, and a comfortable atmosphere. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Frontera Grill

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) I'm confused, are these all on the same team? Or do you just get to pick one and one only? Pretty sure you get 3/4 on one team.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) Hypothetical elimination from a FB thread. Four Hall of Fame or future HOF guys that you can build your team with, but you can only take three of the four. Who do you leave off and what order would you take them? Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant Lebron James Magic Johnson Kobe gets cut. He's the slightly-less-rich man's MJ. I also think he and Jordan would butt heads, while LeBron and Magic seem likely to get along with anyone.

Jenks and HH, thanks for the replies. Too bad he has no chance.

Does Kasich have any particular traits/policies that people like? Or is he just appealing because he seems like a reasonably nice/reasonably intelligent/reasonably sane/reasonably moderate person in a field full of people who aren't?
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Why would he be referring to a JV debate when he mentioned the blood comment, which came from the first Fox debate, which had even higher ratings than CNN's? He said the two main takeaways from the first debate (Fox) were the blood comment and Fiorina winning the JV portion.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Today I learned that 23 million viewers = almost nobody. That debate drew monster ratings. It was the largest audience in CNN's history. He was talking about the "JV" debate before the first Fox debate.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) Trump is a sideshow clown. He can't beat Hillary. Celebrities will love it if he's the candidate vs. Hillary. Fallon will probably put Trump on a zillion times to make sure he gets the nomination. The timing of Hillary's appearance could not have been a coincidence. Why would being on Jimmy Fallon a bunch of times get Donald Trump the nomination?

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) I just can't believe how little talk there is about how Fiorina out and out lied about what is in those videos. I saw George Stephanopoulos interview her this morning and he told her that those images are not in any of those videos. She just said anyone who claims that hasn't seen the videos and that George needed to go check his facts. But there are plenty of reliable people who have sat through all of those "unedited" videos and have seen no graphic full-formed fetuses wiggling around, etc. Definitely the whopper of the night. And it drew the biggest crowd pop.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) I think Kasich by far would make the best President of any candidate from either party, but the Republican primary voters are just way too far right to nominate him. Jeb is in a no-win situation. If he defends his brother he's defending a lot of bad decisions, if he doesn't defend his brother then he's viewed as betraying his brother to win votes. Impressions from a moderate who watched about half of it: Totally out of their depth: Trump, Carson Trying too hard: Walker, Christie No impact: Fiorina Nuts: Cruz, Huckabee, Rubio Seemed reasonable: Paul, Kasich, Bush

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) That's the problem, though. Post hoc ergo propter hoc. You need to at least demonstrate that, statistically, the rate hike or cancellation was at least plausibly caused by the ACA. There were rate hikes and plan cancellations/changes every year prior to the ACA. eta: my plan has not changed and my insurance rates went up less than inflation last year. This is no more or less proof than cknoll's situation of the effects of Obamacare. Obama was dumb to make that promise; it's not something he could even control Prior to the ACA, insurance companies could refuse to cover or dump unprofitable customers who needed a lot of expensive treatments. Now they have to take them. Why wouldn't we expect insurers to pass those increased costs onto everyone else? This is not to say that all the shady practices and rejection of people with pre-existing conditions is something we should let happen again, but we can't pretend that they don't have an effect.

There are instances of people being oversensitive babies about language and complaining about it...therefore all instances of people complaining about language are the result of them being oversensitive babies!
