QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) By not actually providing it with context. He was asked about if there was a hypothetical law in place, one that he may not have even put in place, would people be punished for breaking it. The tweet was made to sound like he's just going to start rounding up women and throwing them in jail without any process to it. But that's what 140 character news does. The article posted on the previous page does a better job. Trump opposes the Roe vs Wade decision and wants abortion to be illegal (minus rape/incest/life of mother). Matthews asked him if it being illegal would carry punishments for the woman. He said yes. The tweet wasn't even remotely out of context.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) From a student at Harvard: In a class I attended earlier this semester, a large portion of the first meeting was devoted to compiling a list of rules for class discussion. A student contended that as a woman, she would be unable to sit across from a student who declared that he was strongly against abortion, and the other students in the seminar vigorously defended this declaration. The professor remained silent. In a recent conversation with peers, I posed a question about a verse from the Bible. A Harvard employee in the room immediately interjected, informing me that we were in a safe space and I was thus not permitted to discuss the controversial biblical passage. And these are just stories from the past three months. The student who wrote this? Albert Einstein.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) People can describe Garland as a centrist all they want. The chart is looking at things analytically, and Garland is as far left of center as Aliso is right of center. The Republicans know they are an underdog to win in November. If they really thought Garland was a lot closer to the center than what they would get from Hilllary, they would confirm him. That chart seems pretty wonky. Kennedy is nearly the same as Scalia? Ginsberg nearly the same as O'Connor? Douglas was twice as liberal as anyone on the chart was ever conservative? -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) A group of us are going and we rented a 3bd house at Guavaberry Spring Bay. Anything besides the Baths that we HAVE to check out? There are a lot of great beaches around the island and snorkeling/scuba spots. Many charter boats that'll take you on day trips to neighboring islands too. You'll probably spent a lot of time face-down in the water, so I recommend picking up one of those dive shirts and some kind of hat so you don't burn yourself because the cool breezy air makes it feel like you're not roasting in the sun even when you are. There's also a hike up to Gorda Peak which has a view of the whole island, but it's not really an enjoyable hike (muggy, buggy) and the view isn't that much better than what you can see from the road. I think it's a pass. Also, be prepared that (outside the huge, rich resorts obviously) the island is not well developed, rich, or commercial. The one 'town', Spanish Town, is tiny, and is basically the yacht harbor with a dozen or so small mom 'n pop stores/restaurants around it. Can be a bit of a shock if you're used to Hawaii, Florida, Cancun, and other typical beachy destinations. I heard there are a few more upscale restaurants around the island, but we had a meal plan at our resort so we never hit them up.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Anybody been to Virgin Gorda? We're heading there in late April to do some beachfront rock climbing Just honeymooned there in October. It's lovely. Where are you staying?

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 05:39 PM) I don't think there is a gay guy and there are 3 douche bags! In your face! One girl is southern and kind of racist but doesn't realize it and she's dumb but it's kind of like Road Rules where they have to do insane stunts or go home. The previews showed some good fights and arguments. Does The Real World even attempt to cast any relate-able or likeable people anymore? Isn't it all about maximizing drama through alcoholism, promiscuity/jealously related to promiscuity, mental illness, and roid rage?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) President can withdraw the nomination, right? I have to figure he does that right before the election. I don't think he'd do that. He can't hype up Garland as being this excellent candidate he wants on the bench and then dump him. Obviously, he doesn't have an election to lose, but that would be really s***ty to Garland. I also don't think he's as partisan as some other people in politics where he'd try to maximize the liberal-ness of the court. Even a moderate liberal like Garland is still a big swing from Scalia. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) Huh, I had always heard the flak gun explanation, but that seems to be the 'official' understanding. I'd actually never heard of the flak gun version. Learn somethin new

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) It's not 100% a white power symbol, but it very frequently is especially when used as a tattoo: Combined with "88," a common white power reference to 88mm flak guns used by Nazi Germany, it's a 100% lock that she's all about white power. H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. 88 => HH => Heil Hitler

2015 - 2016 Bowling Season

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) You don't have to be a good bowler or have a high average to be on a league. I understand. I'd just like to get myself up to semi-competent, haha. -

Thanks for your input. The 150 was just a hypothetical round number. I'd guess my average is really more like a measly 115. I have smaller hands and find myself stuck using 12# balls (or even 10s) when we go out. I feel like the low weights are causing a distinct lack of impact, so that's why I was considering buying a ball so I could use something a little heavier. -

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) The absolute biggest advantage over a house ball is having a ball drilled to fit you properly. So many people that use house balls have to use one that is under weight because the finger holes on the heavier balls are typically huge. Simply having a ball that fits properly should make a world of difference. The next advantage would be having a ball that reacts to the lanes a bit better. There are tons of different cover stocks to choose from depending on what oil pattern you are typically on. Getting a ball that grips the lane and hooks into the pocket is more preferable than a plastic house ball that's going to go mostly straight. That's not even mentioning that fact that you won't have to waste a bunch of time searching for a ball every time you go. Are you on a league or thinking of joining one? Neither at the moment. I've just been playing more since my son gained interest in it and was wondering what kind of score increases I might see if I picked up a ball. I'd definitely consider joining a league, but not until I improve substantially. -

Hey bowling dudes, What would you say is the advantage in a personal ball versus the 'house balls' your local alley has for the public to use? Like, if you averaged 150 with house balls, and bought your own ball (and got accustomed to it, obviously), how much would you expect your average to improve? -

Not once in history has anyone on the Supreme Court been named Merrick or Garland. This is an unprecedented, extremist move by Obama. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) Yes but if its Hillary vs Trump, the young will vote for Hillary. She's trending MUCH better with people under 30 than Trump, especially minorities. If young people aren't actually excited, they're probably just not voting.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) I dont think there is any way that Trump can ride the white trash vote to the white house. Hillary has the dems, the minorities and the youth vote. Young people like Bernie, not Hillary.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) They felt that their only way to win was to make the evangelicals come out and vote. It was a bad bet Far-right evangelicals are already highly politically motivated and vote reliably. They were never the problem.

I understand Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes Captain America is on the rebellious side of the Civil War to protect Bucky, but can anyone who has read the Civil War comics explain why Tony Stark is the "play-by-the-rules, yay government oversight" guy?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 08:58 PM) Incorrect. A buffet is a place you go to to eat garbage food with no limits for a set fee. Hotbars charge by the pound. They are overpriced, but they are also amazing, and the food is of much higher quality if you go to the right places. Yeah, it's not a buffet; it's a pay-by-weight cafeteria.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Cell phone video taken from the car to go along with the already released aerial video I guess the lesson to be learned here is that if you spend 5 minutes yelling at the cops "shoot me" and "kill me", then drive past a road block, jump out of your car yelling "you're gonna have to shoot me", and then reach for a weapon inside your jacket... you are going to get shot. The fact that they had kids in the car the whole time really makes me sick to my stomach as well. Don't read the comments on that page.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) That's a neat trick with far less than half the 2016 season over. Also ignores the stark reality that the Dems have had only two candidates basically all season. I assume the asterisk means they are projecting based on states so far. There's nothing really tricky about the numbers. They're related to Super Tuesday only, so the timeframe doesn't matter. 2008 had a hotly contested Dem race. 2016 has a hotly contested Rep race.
