  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) I wish the NL would finally add the DH and somehow allow that to be considered at least in the same way as pitchers. We do not argue that a pitcher shouldn't be in the HoF because of their hitting, we shouldn't hold a DH accountable for not contributing with his glove. Of course we should. A player who hits AND plays defense is better than one who only hits. DHs absolutely deserve to be penalized for being awful at something.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) He'll fade. People just like the fact he's not afraid to bust the P.C. police. Trump isn't being criticized for being offensive; he's being criticized for being a clown who blurts out ignorant, idiotic nonsense to get attention. Trying to stick any blame on "the PC police" is a cowardly deflection.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Why? If you hire an expert in any other field (doctor, lawyer, whatever) and you rely on their expertise, its generally not your fault if some third party gets hurt through their screw up. Medicine and law are a little more reliably regulated than shady African hunting trips.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) He was in a conversation with a couple of people last week. Going back n forth. That just means Elliot is having the conversation with them. Like Fight Club.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) That's exactly why I included my last sentence. Should there be a distinction between something flying above your property at 1000 feet, 100 feet, and 10 feet, and where exactly should the line be drawn? Tricky. Somewhere definitely above throwing distance and below airplane distance.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) I think you have that backwards. It's generally the committed, vote-in-every-election base that drives the primaries. Trump hasn't won any actual primaries. I think Tex is just referring to very early polling, where having a big name and making a splash results in big numbers among political illiterates.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Look, for example, at how Rush Limbaugh, another veteran practitioner of political resentment, recently defended Trump. He focuses almost exclusively on the billionaire's critics, rather than the man himself: Right, look at how he's impossible to defend, so pundits don't even try.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) It's not dull, more has happened in the first 4 episodes of season 2 than all of season 1. And the psychosphere is larger this time around. While season 1 was lighter and easier to grasp, season 2 is full of allegories, clues, suspects, etc while being very dark. Nic Pizzalatto defnitely put a lot into the first few episodes of the second season and is really taking his time to tell this story and based on the first 5 episodes there is going to be a serious pay off. Watch every episode of the season again and after each episode read these or just read them, this season is anything but dull. http://www.polygon.com/2015/6/30/8869875/t...cters-plot-help http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/7/8901145/tr...iew-walkthrough http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/15/8962955/t...t-mexican-drugs http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/22/9011429/t...plot-help-recap I (and most people, it seems) disagree. This season has been an absolute chore to watch, and if it wasn't only 8 episodes long, and didn't have the True Detective name, I would have dropped it already. Despite being predictable, last's week revelation about Ray's wife's rapist was the first interesting thing to happen this season. The murder of Caspere is a giant Who Cares, as is the corruption and criminality related to OOOOOH a railway line deal. Even after reading those links (I have no interest in rewatching the episodes), I'm not sure what kind of complexity with clues and suspects you're referring to. Simply having 90% of the characters be shady folks doesn't make for an interesting mystery. Caspere was shady. Frank is shady. Blake is shady. Osip is shady. Chessani is shady. Tony is shady. Ani's dad is shady. Pitlor is shady. Holloway is shady. The DA is shady. Lt. Burris is shady. Dixon was shady. Geldof is shady. The Senator is shady. The corporate guy is shady. The mystery in season 1 was bizarre and compelling. This one is boring. And Vince Vaughn and Kelly Reilly are producing some of the worst scenes on television. MOPE MOPE MOPE

QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 10:24 PM) Everyone should go check out Tut on spike's website. It's a 3 episode (1.5 hours each) mini series. Absolutely fantastic, I meant to watch one episode and 4.5 hours later here I am. (only one episode is available online right now unless you have some type of cable log-in) I poo-pooed the previews since it looked like it wasn't even going to try to be historically accurate. Good despite that?

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) I agree. I thought that the shootout was one of the most intense 15 minutes on TV I can remember. It felt real because there wasn't some of the silly dialogue you sometimes hear in scenes like that. The perspective switched between the three characters, and each of them looked truly scared and amped up. And their reactions when it was over (along with the wide shot of the bodies all over the place) were realistic, too. No high-fiving, smiles, etc. Just them gasping for breath, looking around stunned. Excellent stuff. Gotta fall into the other camp. I thought the shootout was pedestrian, and badly forced into the episode to add some action to an otherwise dull and uneventful season.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) Anyone buy into the theory that Mr Robot is a hallucination and not really there? Most definitely. I think we'll find out that Elliot's dead father happens to look a lot like Christian Slater too.
  12. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Who is paying for the insurance? What does the insurance cover? The insurance coverage conflicts with the religious beliefs of the nuns, right? The Little sisters pay for the insurance? By requesting an exemption, The Little Sisters would pay only for base insurance that contains no contraceptive coverage. The insurer would then, separately, provide contraception riders for people who want it. Their complaint is that filling out a 2-page form to get an exemption violates their religious freedom.
  13. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) Yup understanding the issue is a difficult concept.. It's not, unless you're falling for the Little Sister's insane framing of the issue. They're allowed to exempt out of the requirement, they just have to notify the government (with a form) that they're doing so.
  14. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) Little Sisters of the Poor not violating their religious belief.......Obama>>>> Yup, filling out a form is definitely a violation of one's religious belief.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Reading conflicting things, I took the Arya seen that she was about to warg, but others said she was blinded as punishment. She's blind. Ain't never seen no one warging complain that they can't see. Also, the books explicitly say so.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 12:12 AM) Im re-reading the book again so I will triple check but I was sure that it was her husband. That's the first impression given off, but I found this article pretty convincing: https://meereeneseblot.wordpress.com/2013/0...ed-the-locusts/
  17. QUOTE (bshah723 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) You sure? I really thought it was Hizdahr. Hizdahr gets the blame, but the Shavepate is the one with the real motive. He's also the one who conveniently finds the confectioner and starts pointing the fingers at his enemy Hizdahr.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) He orchestrates the assassination of her via poison in the books. Nah man, it was the Shavepate.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) I dont get why they changed that scene so much from what was actually written. I liked the betrayal of her husband so much more. What betrayal of her husband?
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) The gladiator scene was awesome though. Except the part where everyone was in peril and Dany flies away while Mermont, Daario, and Tyrion just watch. The attackers just decided to stop trying I guess About 20 got roasted, and most of the rest ran away
  21. QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:07 AM) Book Stanis and show Stanis continue tor grow even further apart. I knew it was coming, but thought Stanis would need convincing....not that it would be his idea. It was Mel's idea a couple episodes ago. Stannis just finally agreed to it because Ramsey and 20 dudes used their "knowledge of the north" to be invisible and destroy all the food, all the siege engines, and a bunch of tents (pfffffff).
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ May 27, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) To carry that Cavs team to the finals is incredible but would anyone argue that this maybe the worst Eastern Conference playoffs ever? The past decade plus has been bad but this season has been the worst I can remember. Nah. Definitely not worse than that stretch of Eastern teams from the early 2000s.

    Grilling

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 26, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) A couple quick grilling recipes that I like and use often: Pork chops with McCormick Steak and Chop seasoning, this stuff is amazing on pork. Good on burgers too
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ May 21, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) why do you have to minus all the winning? The Yankees have 5 titles in the last 20 years. The Maple Leafs have none in the last 48.
  25. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 4, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) The Unsullied still had shields and spears, which should be really hard to beat with knives. There was a sizeable passage in the books about how the Unsullied were outnumbered like 100-1 against the Dothraki (actual fighters) and prevailed. Those were hardcore unsullied. These unsullied go to the brothels to get held like babies. They're soft, man.
