QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) It's the drunk dial of the 21st century! I should have been smart and kept it to direct messages on Twitter.. too much room to ramble on facebook.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Hmmmm Is this hmmm like a lightbulb going on over your head? If so, I recommend it. If not, don't judge me!!!!

I woke up this morning and realized I had drunk Facebook-messaged a couple of people.. Humorous and dangerous to say the least. This did prompt me to go back through previous messages I had sent, in similar states of mind and I am extremely pleased with how many of them led to positive situations.

Just to add on, some fakes of all types of apparel are really well done. I have a black Mark Buehrle black jersey that I paid $40 for and I'm really comfortable wearing to any Sox game or event. I know the little things that make it un-authentic, but they're very subtle. At the same time I bought a gray, road Paul Konerko jersey that came with navy blue lettering instead of the black. If I compare either to my authentic jerseys, the difference in quality and attention to detail is pretty apparent, even beyond the blue lettering. If you're really looking for something authentic, you have to buy from a reputable source, and if you're looking for a good fake, be sure to see it with your own eyes before you spend any money.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) They all say "New Era." http://www.hatsvip.com/new-era-baseball-ha...ats-c-7_13.html Why aren't they getting shut down? There's caps on that site that look like they're legit New Era caps, but the ones you linked earlier have all the signs of being fakes, plus they're reproductions of a typically difficult to find cap. The prices are suspect, as they're the exact price that I paid for my fake, which shipped directly from China, which is another trigger of evidence of a fake. As for why they're not getting shut down on the caps that they're selling that are fake, I've never really understood it. I added onto my last post that this type of thing happens with Jerseys (I've seen fake MLB, NHL, and NFL jerseys all over the place, all produced by different companies) and Nike, Reebok, and Adidas shoes all the time. For some reason the companies turn the blind eye and don't often pursue any legal action. The actual caps in those pictures are probably New Era caps.. but New Era didn't add the White Sox or MLB logo. It was probably a blank that New Era sold off at wholesale when they switched from all wool to polyester caps for their MLB performance gear.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) So, all of the ones on that site are fakes? Yeah. All the caps you just linked are fakes. I mean.. they're real hats.. but they're not produced with the consent of the White Sox, MLB, or New Era.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Chris, What's the difference here? http://www.hatsvip.com/new-era-fitted-mlb-...3345-p-394.html http://www.hatsvip.com/new-era-fitted-mlb-...3342-p-391.html QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) Here's another: http://www.caps2011.com/new-era-mlb-hats/c...blue-hat-id1199 These are all chinese made fakes, modeled after the 2008 Stars And Stripes cap that has become very difficult to find. The over-sized logo and puffy white stitching are clear indicators that these aren't legit or reputable caps. I actually picked one of these up a while back as a place holder until I could find an authentic 2008 stars and stripes hat.. I was pretty surprised at how bad the fake one is. The pictures below should document the differences pretty well. Authentic Hat: Non Authentic Chinese made hat: The fakes are usually made from either New Era blanks that can be bought in bulk, or they're rejects from New Era. The same thing happens with Majestic jerseys, with many tell-tale signs.. I'm pretty well versed on this type of stuff.. so anyone who finds what they think is a really good deal on a Jersey or Cap, I can usually pinpoint the signs of a fake or an authentic pretty well.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) They were on dugout jackets too. http://blog.mitchellandness.com/image.axd?...te+Sox+BP+1.JPG It's current equivalent is the diamond sock logo.. It's a very well known alternate logo.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Here's a new holy grail for you: Its from the 1930's. I think I've seen it at Grandstand. Unfortunately, that was never a cap that the Sox wore. There's a few caps out there that are similar in this purpose, honoring a time period, but not what was worn. During this time period, they wore solid colored caps with that logo on their Jerseys. It's a cool logo too. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Ridiculously cool, Chris. Thank you very much! QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) ? QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 03:43 AM) Here... I'll be more helpful. http://www.grandstandsox.com/store/chicago...st-patrick.html Also... http://www.dugout-memories.com/negroca.html Thanks guys, I guess I should have mentioned that I know where get to those caps.. I'm just waiting for more appropriate times to pick them up: St. Patrick's day or half way to St Pats for the green and.. well.. the next time I go to grandstand for the negro league cap, because I believe they have the New Era version that the Sox wore for the game in 08. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) This is my favorite White Sox hat that I own I have a hat similar to this too, as well as a few other fashion hats, I really like that logo. It's a shame that the only official apparel it ever appeared on was the White Sox spring training jerseys from 1982-1986. Speaking of alternate logos.. this is floating around as an alternate logo from the early 30's as well, I can't find any photographic evidence that this logo was ever used in a White Sox uniform anywhere.. jersey or cap... If anyone has any more knowledge or a picture of this logo in use, I'd love to see it.

QUOTE (G&T @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Do they sell the one with the double socks? That's pretty cool. That's a personal favorite of mine as well. They only wore it for one year, 1926, and only on the road. That one is available here, made by American Needle.: http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1890605 I saw a New Era 59fifty version somewhere too, but I personally prefer American Needle when possible. Their brims bend more evenly and consistently.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) I guarantee you don't have this one......got it from the Dublin Black Sox team in Ireland! But... that's not a Chicago White Sox cap.. Though, I do like the style of the jerseys quite a bit. I really like the white piping around the neck and bordering the buttons. I'd love for the (Chicago White) Sox to do something like this with the current logo.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Wow! Awesome collection, Chris! QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) That is one cool collection. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) That pic is now the background on my computer. Thanks everybody! I'm going to work up a cap-by-cap retrospective over the weekend and I'll post my work in this thread. I'll probably throw a little uniform history in while I'm at it too.

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) Really cool, thanks for posting. Individual posts with the history of each cap would be kind of cool. We could lock it so only those posts appear. Hell, a Knight list of favorite Sox cap (BTW hats have brims). might be cool. I can definitely do this. I've had to dig a bit to confirm that each of these caps were actually the style that was worn on-field, so that knowledge is pretty fresh in my mind.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Did they wear the black or white American Giants cap? Actually I think it's Navy.. and I'm pretty sure I saw a few stacks of them at Grandstand the last time I went in.

While I'm at it, here's my other pride and joy collection.

I was successful in getting the last hat on my list of official White Sox caps, thanks to SoxTalk member Beautox. I figured here would be as good a place as any to show it off and take any suggestions of hats I need to fill in the gaps with any alternate or turn-back-the-clock cap that I haven't accounted for. I'm not a fan of spring training/BP hats, so I'm sticking to hats that were worn in regular season games. The short list of hats I'm missing includes the kelly-green halfway to st. pats hat and the Chicago American Giants hat that they wore in Detroit to honor the negro leagues in 2008. What else is out there that I'm forgetting? I also have this cap that I believe commemorates the 100 year anniversary of the American League (2001), but I don't think it's the hat the Sox wore on-field with the "Sunday Best" jerseys from that season. It uses the same American flag logo that was found on the jerseys, but I can't find a good picture of anyone wearing a hat from those games. It's one of my favorite Sox logos out there, so I'll wear it proudly, even if it wasn't an on-field cap, I'm just curious if anyone has any more knowledge on it. /nerdycollector

Adam Wainwright significant elbow injury
TheChrisSamsa replied to justBLAZE's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) It's official. Tommy John time. This is disappointing. Hate to see a guy so good go down to an injury. This changes the make-up of the NL central quite a bit. I was discussing this with a Cubs fan friend of mine before the news and I had expected to see Milwaukee, STL and the Reds battle it out, with much of my opinion based on clear strengths in starting pitching from all 3 teams. This takes STL out of the "pitching wins divisions" thought process. -
White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
TheChrisSamsa replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:29 AM) Since this is an offseason catch all thread and I fear starting new threads cause people sometimes get mad ... Can I get a roll call to pat ourselves on the back? How many of you used this Website regularly all offseason? How many days a week did you check it and did you post much? Roll call please? My answer: I checked it every day. I posted a fair amount. p.s. Do the mods take into consideration how much a person uses the site year round when making decisions in the heat of the season whether to suspend somebody a couple weeks for mouthing off? Or is everybody considered equal in that regard? I checked the site a few times a day, and posted more than I did during the season. I'm like a baseball addict, and this was my off-season fix. I hope to involve soxtalk a little more in my on-season fix too though. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) I agree. It's very surprising that he has a game schedule already. I just hope they are cautious with him, but if he's ready for the April 9th start, that would be great. That's when the Sox will need a 5th starter for the first time. I hope they give him that extra week, and if he gets hurt, he gets hurt. It'll either happen in a Sox uniform or a Charlotte uniform, so they might as well go for it. I couldn't agree with this more, hell, he could get hurt in a side session. If docs say he's ok, and Jake says he feels ok, put him on the mound... Just pull him early while he gets his strength up. 4 innings of a good Jake Peavy is better than 4 innings of bad AAAA scrubs.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Looks like I need to get The Show when it comes out next month. Looks like I need to get a PS3... I haven't had a gaming system since N64 but I've been itching for some virtual baseball gaming.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Will always give him credit...hit the biggest regular season home run in White Sox history (IMO). Without a doubt, the most exciting. JOEEEEE CREEEEEDEEEEEEEE YEEEEASSSSS! Joe, we'll always remember you on the southside.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) I'm a HUGE Jake Peavy fan. I will never get on KW for trading for him. He's a legitimate ace when healthy. I just have serious doubts on if will ever get the ace version of Peavy. He's an ace in his mindset, if his arm agrees even 50%, he's in good shape.
